John didn't talked about half of what made Outcast so good. One cool detail is that the NPCs were aware of their locais. If you went to a NPC to ask about another NPC, if the second NPC was close enough the first NPC could just point to his direction instead of talking where he could probably be. Other thing, "AI Agents" for the enemies. The enemies actually learned for their encounters with you. Funny, when I tried to play "smarter" it got harder. Also, there were deliveries of food and weapons to their garrisons, you could weaken them by attacking those deliveries. There was also a bit of acoustic effects in interiors.

It's a aa game with an aaa price tag, which doesn't perform all that well.. how is that underrated? It's a bad performing game with a way to high price.. they (the devs) actually overrated the game

This game is just another half-finished pure garbage, even if it's "fun". It needed like another year to be playable, because right now, It's barely in alpha state lol. I mean I just tried the demo, and this game stutters like crazy on PS5 and has brutal frame drops. Also the AI is non existant. Some enemies are just standing in a place and I can kill them from 1 cm, some start to chase me, but get stuck in small rocks, so I just climbed on a 50cm "tall" (XD) rock and could kill them without getting any damage.

@@ColdFear6666 1000 times better than climbing hoverboards in so called "AAA"-titles... Runs absolutely fine on my laptop, rtx3060,i7. Ps5 also works way better with latest patches

What PC was Alex using where the performance went up from 30 to 100+ fps? There are STILL huge fps drops from 90+ to mid 30 fps with crazy slowdown when the menu is pulled up.....even at 1080p on my 3060ti. The game needs some serious optimization on PC. The CPU/GPU utilisation is crazy with temps reaching almost 90.... while the fps is swinging wildly. Framepacing is also an issue....and the game just doesn't feel smooth.

Same problem here. I couldnt stomach it and refunded. Not many people are speaking about it which is confusing to me. 7900xtx with. 7800x3d and 32 gb 600mt ddr 5 ram

@@Apelgrandure With your specs, your PC should run circles around this game.....but looks like it's screwing badly even on your monster of a machine. Seriously fed up with this garbage optimization be it from AAA or AA studios. Don't tell me that the studio didn't know about this during play testing. What is even more surprising is that DF is just waving away the performance issues as if they have been solved...when the reality is far from that. Testing games on the top of the line systems and brute forcing past performance issues is in no way giving a true story when what the vast majority of players with modest systems are experiencing is something quite different. Not to mention the AAA price for what is obviously a AA game(nothing wrong with being a AA game..but the price is a MAJOR point being discussed on forums) The devs need to look into optimization ASAP else this game will soon be forgotten.

It's so frustrating to hear that you notice the issue and specifically notice the strange behavior in vrr yet didn't take the extra couple minutes to just give it a quick play with vrr on Xbox to get an initial impression. If the tearing is what you find odd why would you first look at the mode that is expected to have tearing anyway?

It is not a AAA game, but im hearing it us AAA priced. Strange decision. You could buy RE4 last year for $60. This would be an easier sell between $40-$60.

People need to stop blaming technology. Its lack of craftsmanship and budget! And devs not knowing their limitations. We have plenty huge open world games on the last gen consoles that run great. Hell even rdr 2 runs decent on a steam deck for christ sake.. and now we are being told that games like this cant perform because the consoles lack power?? Gtfo. Devs need to stop being over ambitious and keep their limitations in mind. You can literally see how much knowledge has left the industry the past decade.. now they all start to blame the tech.. the ps4 had great games! (With limitations in mind) know you have the ps5.. and you cant work with the limitations of a way more powerful console? Stop with the 4k and ray tracing! If its limits performance stop using it. But blaming tech because your games dont run😅 we have a word for that in most trades.. lack of craftsmanship

The forced push for 4k and RT when the tech is just not cheap enough is the reason why I have lost any interest in "modern AAA" games. Past games with prebaked lights did a good enough job without the massive requirements that RT warrants. No reason why these consoles(locked PC's basically) can't do solid 60fps on these games. Crytech did the same crap with Crysis where they pushed way past what normal customers could afford and then blamed piracy for the lost sales. This game has similarities with Biomutant....where the devs just followed the mass market open world generic nonsense instead of biting what they could chew.... especially considering that both the companies are small studios. Just do your own unique thing instead of copying the bland Ubisoft open world formula....and instead of chasing the latest and greatest special effects, just let the art style of the game shine through. Hope they patch the performance issues ASAP.

The technology the far enough to play games like this decent😅.. what we see the last couple years is devs who lack skills.. who don't know how to deal with limitations. If you don't have the knowledge or the budget to make a game like for example rdr 2.. you shouldn't try to make that game. Same goes for this.. if you don't have the knowledge and neither the budget.. don't do it. If this game was done by a proper studio and with a proper budget it would run perfectly. So let's stop blaming the technology.. it's lack of craftsmanship and devs who don't know their limitations
