I had DFSP. When I was around 8 or 9 I went in about a small bump on my left shoulder blade. The doctor thought it was just scar tissue (I had fallen in a creek and hit my back years before). I went back years later, and again they said it was nothing but scar tissue (I did mention it seemed to be growing). Finally when I was around 16 we went in again to the new province we moved to. Had it checked and the doctor had a biopsy done. That is when they brought me in. I ended up having two surgeries to make sure it was all gone. I lost the feeling in my left shoulder (to touch), but I have all movement. I'm not a doctor, and can't explain all that happened, but I'm thankful for the one that finally looked into it a bit more. It so easy to look past DfSP, as it's slow growing and just looks like a scar.

I'm sorry to hear what you went through. Unfortunately, I've heard similar stories many times, as DFSP often mimics scar, cyst, or other benign things clinically. I'm glad to hear you are doing well now! Best wishes to you for continued good health.

Thank you for your lifelong dedication to this cancer. I have watched and enjoyed your Ted talk and follow you on the FB group. I am a 15 year survivor of DFSP on my scalp. I had great treatment at UIC hospital with a wide excision, skin graft, tissue expanders and several surgeries. It is a distant memory now, but I still make sure to check for recurrences since I know how devastating this cancer is.

I was just diagnosed with DFSP yesterday. I had some discolouration on my breast which didn't bother me but a few weeks later turned into a lump. My doctor initially thought it was a cyst in the breast and we both agreed to have it removed, thankfully it was removed. Waiting on surgery to get the cancer removed 👍

Sir, does DF always appear as a single nodule, does it appear as a single nodule in DFSP, or is it always observed as several formations side by side? Is the appearance of a single nodule discriminative in diagnosis?

@@JMGardnerMD actually, last time i asked the wrong question , what i wanted to know is how to diff bet dermato fibroma DF and DFSP , but after watching ur video again and again what i concluded now is cellularity is high in DFSP but acanthosis, collagen bunldle entrapment , atypia are less in DFSP , but these features r variable, so the most important ffeature is infiltration of subcutis and fat in a honeycomb pattern in case of DFSP , is there any thing i missed again? plz correct me is i am wrong , thk u
