Exactly...just made a similar comment on a different reaction vid to this song. They are the only kpop soloists I've seen who do R&B real justice without effort. You can't teach soul, you got it or you don't.

the MV director said that the substances are corn syrup and bath slime. and JAEHYUN himself confirmed that it's about narcissism.

the flower seems to be lily. but in Narcissus story in greek mythology, it should be daffodil. daffodil and lily look similar but actually different.

Its based on Narcissism actually and in video its shown after Roses he got heart broken to the point he lost himself and decided to do this because he thinks this way he can avoid the heartbreak Smoke is also indentify like the extremisn he become like biggest narcissist and the sun is an example like because its huge either he wanna see dwell in it so much so that he burns or either he become sun like enormous in other words like perfectionist who literally is self obsessed

My interpretation is that here he represents varios personas. - The private Jaehyun, the human being, that loves himself but is weary or scared of being watched, observed, followed? Maybe as you said, he doesn't want others to see how he loves himself that much (maybe in society self-confidence is okay but that amount of self-love is judged as arrongance, lack of modesty and sth to avoid?). - Then the Jaehyun sucked in by the sofa, i thought it was representing him becoming an idol and being sucked into the world of popularity. That is why he appears like in amiotic water (BORN a star), and appears up high on a roof (symbol of his new status), and all dressed up, hair+make up, and starts perfoeming. But it has the background of a city with factory chimnenies throwing toxic fumes and the sky is yellow and green (toxicity in that world of fame, and those colors represent jealousy, greed?). After performing we see his fave receiving warm light and he feels attracted by the warmth of a big Sun. Is that the effevt of love/human relationships that make you fall down/off from your idol status? or as you said is it a symbol of greed like the Icarus myth that tries to reach the sun, his wings get burmed and he falls and drowns? Then the Jaehyun that appears in the hotel, knocks on the door, wonders about why all the clothes and shoes in the corridor, tries to hear what goes on inside the room, but he easily gives up/doesn't care... he represents the Jaehyun that is an artist, as in comfortable with what he has become after years of crazyness in the idol world, and that is why he is represented with cool careless expressions and he is dancing like vibing and enjoying himself. After all he also will tape the camera that films the corridor. Is that what all of his personas have in common? Rejection of those following them around and spying on them, trying to know about their lifes and bring them down?

. . . . 1:12 - I believe these numbers are milestones in his life (and the fact that's 27 yrs old) 5:13 - reminds me of a story about 'Icarus' 6:03 - yes, mv is based on the story of 'narcissus', thus the 'drinking out of the lily', bath tub and mirror scenes 6:58 - yes, I thought the same - the washing of the hands etc. is because he has been tainted by the outside world 7:15 - it's as if he knows what's going on and is attempting to get him out of his narcissistic state. but, _"you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink"_ 10:22 - it's a black and white world where you're not expected to deviate from the role that's imposed on you (one aspect)

Edit: okay after listening in full to your interpretation, I guess I totally overlooked narcissism here. For some reason I thought we were in some old movie where he is covering up a murder lol. I loved this comeback to pieces. The R&B vibes in the album hits the brain just right! Cant wait to finish video in full for your interpretation as I feel like there is a story to it.
