Joey and Caitlin are soulmates, and nothing, not even bad writing/exits on DTG will change that for me.

Chantale Audet do you think everybody who commit suicide is sick? Yeah there brains sick, mental illnesses are sick, they need help. hopefully we can further medicine and science to prevent this. And the 80s were a diffrent time like seriously only a decade and the 90s was all over that shit.
@Muirmaiden4 жыл бұрын
@@romespeana5378 Obviously he was depressed. But he clearly chose to do it at school to upset others. He sent Caitlin that note and flowers to make her feel guilty and to torment her. His suicide was part of him feeling hopeless, but part to make everyone else sorry. That's the part of him that was cruel and sick.

Joey's emotional maturity and Caitlin's vulnerability in these living room scenes make them stand out and apart from their peers. As a longtime fan of the Degrassi franchise, I also appreciate the double-edged sword scenario in this episode. Claude, to Joey was selfish and vindictive, whereas his suicide arouses a great deal of pain and sympathy in the rest of the student body.
@madamefluffy47883 жыл бұрын
Nah, Lucy thought Claude was a selfish jackass, too (she and Joey had the right of it - Claude was a selfish prick who used his suicide to hurt everyone around him - specifically Caitlyn).

I hate how people keep comparing Claude to Campbell. Claude killed himself mainly for selfish reasons, while campbell was very selfless

I don't know how helpful this might have been for any teens who were suicidal.Claude's suicide was more like an assault on the school and trying to hurt people and make them feel guilty-- not every suicide is motivated like that and it might make suicidal young people feel ashamed or guilty seeing a jerk like Claude represent them.

Making them feel ashamed/guilty is likely exactly what they were going for. Keep in mind the time period when this came out. We're still learning about the psychology behind suicides today. While we've come a long way and have figured out how to prevent several would be suicides; we had way less knowledge about it back in the early 90s when this was made. There wasn't even a suicide prevention hotline at the time. During this time; the way they thought to approach suicide was "tough love". One common parental approach to it at the time was to try to use reverse psychology and tell a suicidal teen "Well do a good job", even handing them a weapon for it, which we now know is one of the worst things you can say to a suicidal teen. They just had a different mindset at the time where it wasn't taken seriously as a legitimate mental condition that needed treatment. It was seen as a teen having a bad day who didn't really want to do it and if they went through with it; it was out of pure selfishness. Most people didn't realize at the time that a lot of suicidal teens are in the mindset that they are a burden to the world and won't be missed.
Joey is a sweetheart. When Caitlin broke up with him he didn't hook up with someone else. And he is a true friend, always there when someone needed him.

Claude’s suicide is not a great representation of what teenagers go through when experiencing depression and anxiety his death was more like an assault on his school he wanted everybody to feel guilty and cry about his death he wanted caitlin to feel guilty about not taking him back and he wanted the school to notice him it’s a shame for sure but his death was more like him trying to get back at the school

I always LOVE JOEY...he's a real sweetheart, though not perfect and a little bit of a trouble maker at times. BUT he's got a good heart ., he's a very stand up guy. BUT THIS Claude. OMG, another character ive always disliked. AND when someone kills themselves ITS very very sad, its unfathomable to imagine what what would drive someone to do that. Suicide is very complicated BUT no ONE should ever feel responsible (like in Caitlins case) for someone else committing the act of suicide. She was not responsible for his demise. He had serious issues, issues that were out of everyone's control EVEN his, because he choose suicide as his way out. its tragic but I DON"T like that GIRLS speech. Claude wasn't anyones friend, he didn't like anyone and felt that nobody liked him, he was an angry person...he needed help but didn't know how to get it and HE really messed things up with Caitlin, she was right not to want to talk to him and THAT should have been that. He was bothering her, trust me from someone who was bothered by a guy for 6 yrs...its awful.

Whoever has gotten this far, there’s two more episodes left that aren’t on here. The next video says it has links to “last dance” but that’s not the next one, it’s supposed to be “Three’s a Crowd”, and THEN “One Last Dance”. You’d have to just KZbin those elsewhere. There’s parts of the episode around and then when you’re done, not sure where to watch School’s Out. The one on this playlist used is blocked in my country.

I see why Aaron Spelling wanted to keep Joey and restart everything else. Joey's love and maturity is always overshadowed by his humor but he's a very motivated individual and noticed it comes from making others happy. Usually this can cause a burnout but it leads him to nothing but success. Gives me a whole other level of love and appreciation when it came to Craig

If Claude is a rather disliked person if not downright an despicable person, then why should everybody feel bad when he committed suicide? Shouldn't everyone feel ecstatic and overjoyed given the fact that he was nothing but a menace to society that the world could do without, and everyone should celebrate over his death as he won't bother anybody anymore? If Claude wanted to punish himself by killing himself, then so be it and everybody should be totally fine about that praise and commend his actions. Or perhaps.....maybe they felt bad because they wanted to kill Claude themselves? Ha Ha Ha!

What Joey said is soooo true! When I was in high school and contemplated suicide all I wanted was for people to feel sorry for me and help me and love me. I though constantly about how guilty people would feel and how they would miss me... Suicide is sooo selfish and it just goes to show you how immature and nieve you are in high school...
@takearriabrown76447 жыл бұрын
