Most of the Degrassi kids are so keener they'd never recognize the smell. And those who DID recognize it would be people who smoked it and knew to keep their mouths shut and mind their own business. Other than drug sniffing dogs, recognizing the smell of weed typically means you're respectful of the smelly person.

Of course it didn't work, because those things weren't her fault in the first place, but, it made her feel like she was doing something to fix it.
