I am going back to Dahlgren. I started it twice, but as an old man now, I feel sufficiently experienced to finish the book.

@@aaronaragon7838 I have many books that I’ve gotten anywhere from a dozen to six hundred pages into before abandoning, then restarted the book,l and abandoned again, only to finally finish some of them years later. I used to see harder reads as medicine that should be taken even when it wasn’t easy, but now I realize that I won’t be able to get the most out of a book until I’m in a season, internally and externally, to really absorb and receive it on a pleasurable level (excepting the usual percentage of “slogging” through difficult/dry/potentially offensive or confusing passages). That process used to frustrate and discourage me, but now more or less it gives me joy, wondering when the time will come that I can return to finish certain books and get more out of them than I may have done before.
