My father was born brought up until the age of 6 in Dhanushkodi. He has fond but short memories of his life there. Anthoniar kovil, post office and playgrounds. My father and grandma were saved on that fateful day as they had left for Madurai a day earlier for xmas vacations. However, my dad lost his elder brother on the train; the boy was 15 and returning home after his final xmas exams. After the cyclone, my grandpa who was a sailor, returned to their railway quarters with his surviving colleagues to find whatever was left in neck-deep water, lost almost everything except for a few certificates and had to rebuild their life from zero @ trichy. Thanks for the footage.

I visited this place in December ,1997. It was a full moon night. When we reached there, it was almost dark. The surrounding was amazing, beyond any description. Moonlight seemed to mix with the gentle waves of the Sea. It was an amazing and wonderful experience. We saw everything that are shown in this video , but that time we saw some Tamil refugees who came directly from Jafna. One more thing, in Dhanushkodi, we saw the one and only temple of Bivishana, the brother of Raavana. Thanks for this excellent video.

Rameswaram island was not connected by electrical lines in those days.People in Dhanaskodi were living without electric supply.Petromax lights were used in Dhanushkodi railway station.Those lights were also not used during moon light days.
