I have a job in retail and I gotta say, this is one of the more realistic Dhar Mann videos (besides the huge cringe and bad plot). I encounter people like this mom and her kid all too often, and if I don’t tell them what they want to hear, they go off on me. Also, what August said about “ the back” is on point. People don’t understand that whatever we have in stock is put out in the store. Just the other day, this lady was pretty much trying to force me into the back room to check for a certain shirt in XL. I told her we didn’t have one, but of course she didn’t believe me. Eventually I just went into the back for 40 seconds just to humor her since she was causing a scene. She still didn’t believe me and wanted to look for herself in the back room, which was when my supervisor stepped in. For me to go through that all the time and then have Dhar Mann (who has probably never worked an actual job a day in his life) display us as the bad guys just made me sick. I feel bad for all of the other people who work these jobs, go through this kind of stuff, deal with these kinds of people, and then have Dharr Mann make them seem like rude employees for knowing that there is nothing for a customer in the back without checking. He needs to Mann up and try an actual job himself. Like he always says, “before you judge someone, try being in their shoes”.

I don't know how it is in clothes stores, but i once was looking for a book in a book store and I couldn't find it. I then asked if maybe they could order it for me and they said that they can, but when they tried to order it they saw that their databank said they still have it. They then checked their storage and they had the book. It sometimes can happen that someone took the last on display and they didn't have the time to replace it.

Honestly, as someone who works as a cashier, sometimes customers will be saying “excuse me, Miss?” And I’ll be further away from them doing chores, but I won’t know that they’re talking to me bc the customers wouldn’t know my name, so I can definitely say the mother should’ve just walked up to the cashier and ask her about the hoodie rather than obnoxiously yell, “EXCUSE ME?!” But I can say that the cashier shouldn’t be on her phone, unless she’s helping a customer with an order on it or something. So… I don’t think there’s really a good guy or a bad guy in this one lol

I recently had got into college and was directionless about my future. The sad part is this is accurate. I work at a pet store and literally just today some guy yelled at me, the cashier, and the manager because we were all just standing around and not helping him. For further context and to make this further ridiculous: he wanted boots for his dog and we told him where they were. He went, looked, and asked if we had more. When we told him that was it for the season he yelled at us all.

They would get angry if I told them, without checking, that we were definitely out of the item, because they just assumed I was being lazy. If an employee tells you "If it's not out, we don't have it" it means one of two things 99% of the time. Either 1) this particular employee filled that particular item from the stockroom personally and used the last of the back stock to do so or 2) they recently checked for that item and it's not in the back stock logs. If you tell them to go check the back, you're just giving them a free break. They will go in the back, be on their phone for a bit then come back and tell you AGAIN that they don't have it.

I can tell you, 9 years of grocery retail. I KNOW what's in the back, especially when I'm the one who stocks the shelves all day. 10/10 times when someone DEMANDS to look in the back. I will put that fun smile on my face and hang out in backstock for a few minutes then return to tell them the same thing. 😘😂

I’ve worked retail… and this is just a taste of how some employees actually feel… but my favorite part is when the mom asked him a question of his merch he says to her, the boy, and then starts talking to the camera.. and I think it’s funny that he has the most hated character as the cashier selling his merch for him telling the only customers in the store that she doesn’t want to help them, but will so they can have your money is not a good look. 😬 haha

In retail i've literally had people whistle at me like I'm their hunting dog 200yards away. When I'm in fact 10ft away. Pro tip if you want a employee to tell everyone over the radio to refuse to assist you that's how you do it. Big box stores don't care about your sale when you act like that. You create a toxic environment for other shopper's. We hope you "never shop here again!".

I work in the warehouse department of a Best Buy, and will get asked if we "have something in the back." Other than a select few super expensive items, if it's not on the floor then we don't have it. Most major stores now have digital tags that if you see a little red X on, that means that we're out of that specific product at our location. I think it should be a little bigger or more obvious if we have none but there is a way to tell.
