After the US pulled out some units of their troops in 2014, my family and I were threatened by the adversaries we fought against. My children couldn't attend school, and I couldn't find independent work. I stopped working with the US Army in 2015, and they helped us relocate to the US in 2019. I've been working as a janitor at the same school my children attend. Unfortunately, my children sometimes face bullying and ridicule because of my job, which deeply troubles me. Salsa dancing isn’t Mexican, it’s more Cuban and Puerto Rican influenced. Cinco de Mayo isn’t widely observed in Mexico, that’s an assumed stereotype. The big Independence Day in Mexico is 16 de Septiembre celebrating when Mexico gained independence from Spain in the 1810s.
