While the ending of this story was positive, I'm not sure so many other families end up learning a lesson before their parent(s) depart this world. This really resonated with me as I struggle so much trying to understand why I have siblings who never make time to call their mom or visit her. She has lived in another country for 16 years and they have never made an effort to see her. It pains me every time I call my mom and she asks me about my siblings and she asks me to tell them to call her. The times I have visited my mom or even lived with her they rarely or never call me to video chat, as my 75 year old mother doesn't know how to use these types of features. I do hope other families gain some value from this video. I have sent videos similar to this message siblings in the past, but unfortunately they have not been able to resonate with them. In our busy lives, we should always make time for our parents and spend moments-normal and milestones with them. I can't imagine how it would feel to live with so much regret and guilt.

I couldn't fathom not seeing my Papa when he was healthy and when he was in the hospice. He was a beautiful, kind, loving man. I miss and love him. When it comes to my mother, it is completely the opposite...she is a cruel, abusive, manipulative, controlling person. both my siblings have cut her off for their emotional well being. I am however with her, taking care of her. She is terrifying when she gets into a demonic rage. I am seeing a doctor and therapist to help cope. I guess, until she dies or i die first, I will be looking after her. My poor father and step father endured 2 decades each married to this abusive woman. I cry at what they went through...both father and step father passed away, I believe from a broken heart, a life filled with abuse from her. They are now in peace and with God...I think I will die before her, because of her cruelty...I pray to help me cope....she enjoys abusing others...especially her children...

This one is so relatable, my older sister refused to come and see my mum when she got sick with cancer twice, and if we asked could we go and see them she was always ready with an excuse, I understand that it was a long way to come and she had 4 kids but other people manage it, she only showed up to my mums funeral, and promised to stay in touch but that was 18 years ago and I've only heard from her once

This reminds me of My uncle he went to Australia and never came back to meet my grand parents (apparently he got too rich and busy to meet his parents)moreover he also did not call becoz his wife wanted him to cut ties with his family. The day before my grandmother died she asked my mom to mail him but didn't respond and next day My Grandmother died and he couldn't attend the funeral.

Yes, once the time with our loved ones, family and friends is up, that’s it and there is no turning the clock back. Treat everyone with love and respect while you can because it’ll just only be regrets and sadness once the person is actually gone…and I do not just mean gone as in death…gone as in you no longer have contact with that person or that person moved elsewhere type of thing too. Please cherish everyone in your life and every opportunity you have with them…it’s the people that matter in life.

i know this video is trying to make a point about not knowing what you got till it's gone but i went through this entire video thinking that this mom was just an awful person and that was before i got to the end. it's kind of weird how the dad is the go between in all the conversations with the kids and he's the one who knows what's going on in their kids lives. kind of seems like she's pretty selfish and just wants to be the center of attention without really putting any kind of work in on her and her children's relationship. then i got to the ending and i kind of saw it coming but i didn't think it'd go that far. like the lack of consideration to how her children would feel and the possible consequences of her actions (like her kids never talking to her again) i guess i'm just saying she was the worst and don't be like her

I have to agree! I know it’s important to cherish your parents but parents need to be more understanding if their kids can’t come to events because of their own lives. Parents won’t always be the main priority for the kids but it doesn’t mean they don’t love them, it means they have their own lives

Finally someone gets it. It is incredibly unrealistic how nice they were after finding out their mother tricked them. I get that You should spend as much time with your family as possible. But this was not the best way to get that message across. What the mother did was cruel even if those kids needed a wake up call. Wake up call in the form of the Dad scolding them for not keeping their promises to attend these events for their mom would’ve been enough. They did not need to go to the extreme of faking the mothers death.
@alisonsouter8788
@alisonsouter8788 11 ай бұрын
Plus parents need to be understanding that their kids are grown up and now they have their own lives. Plus someone pointed out that maybe something happened between the mom and the kids that made them not want to visit. I find my grandmother too controlling and hard to like, that’s why I don’t visit or call her very often.
@stephaniemcmillan2290
@stephaniemcmillan2290 Ай бұрын
@@alisonsouter8788 I do agree that this was too extreme way of a wake up call, making time for your parents and keeping your promises is really important. I’m watching this while I’m sitting in my college dorm and this makes me realize how much I miss my mom when I’m at school, even though I can still see her when I come back. Going to the gym at my school makes me realize how much better I liked going with my dad. Cause he helps me understand the exercises and even though it’s early, it helped me start my day. But I’m glad to see them when I come home. As a teenager I got annoyed with them. As an adult I understand my parents more. I’ve even told my mom I’m sorry for how I acted as a teenager but she understood and said it was ok.

Choices have consequences & when you make the wrong one; you will regret it for the rest of your life. Love, cherish & make time for them; they sure made time for you. “If you have a loved one that is with you today, be sure to not only spend good quality time with that person and remember to let that person know how much you love and appreciate them. And that is why when that casket opens and I see my mother for the final time, I may shed some tears, but I will also carry a good conscience in my heart and soul because it is better to carry that than to carry loads of guilt and regret that will haunt someone for the rest of their life.” That was the eulogy I gave at my mother’s funeral 5 years ago. ❤️

This one hit me hard. I still have my parents, they are 79 and 80. I talk to them every day and see at least 2 or 3 times a week. I have 3 adult children whom I rarely see, even though one is my neighbor. They are so busy with jobs and navigating their ways to being very successful. I miss them so much. Thank you for opening the flood gate for my tears. They really needed cleaned out.

“We need to cherish every moment every moment that we have with our loved ones, because tomorrow might never come.” That was so heart touching. I will always appreciate my loved ones, every single loved one that I have, because we may miss them one day. 💜🙏🏼✨

I have mixed feelings. I literally have social anxiety disorder, so I feel so much more relief being alone. I act this way to most people outside of doing what’s required. A part of me wonders if one day I’ll snap out of it and regret it. But as of right now, I don’t.

This is so messed up. Regardless of how alone you feel, you can’t prank someone saying you or anyone else they care about, is dead. She even organized a funeral! That’s not ok. You should stop commenting how good this message is, bcs if you ever do this to someone im pretty sure they’ll never talk to you again.

"We need to cherish every moment with our loved ones because tomorrow might never come." "You never truly appreciate something until it's gone." Very inspiring messages/lessons! These can taught us that we need to spend as much time with your family as possible because one day, they'll never be around anymore; while we're growing up, we also need to realize that our parents are getting old. So we can't take our time we have with them for granted!
