My mom never used to lecture me about "back in my day" but she did actually struggle with what she had to be given that it's possible I take for granted these days but in my own personal opinion it's kind of good hearing about that stuff because it makes you appreciate what you have now back when someone like your family (your mom dad uncle grandpa grandma etc) had to get by with something else. Of course I disagree with the lectures given and I believe that that's what most parents should talk about with their kids instead of the ole lecture "back in my day" thing. Because evidently, it won't work on today's kids.
