IL-2 Battle of Moscow, Ju52: Securing the bridge

Non-historical mission by Jade_Monkey:
Our goal is to sneak behind enemy lines and secure the bridge with nine Fallschirmjäger gruppen. Take off from Sekretov airfield, join the other two transport flights,
and head south along the Chir river. The drop should take place in the esplanade East of the river between the bridge and the town of Kalach.
After the drop head North towards the newly captured airfield of Berezovsky to refuel. Two Bf-109 Rotten will provide cover during this mission.

The ones that don't land in the trees on the other side of the river. Not a good idea to split up an already small unit. Would have been better for each wave of transports to follow others to put men and weapons together. Useless to have a man in one place and weapons/ammo/comrads half mile away. Jump run should only be 2,000 ft and full throttle to minimize troop exposure to hostile fire. That chute needs 250 ft to deploy. Jumper has a few seconds to use reserve in event of main malfunction. IL2 BoX is a wonderful sim and the graphics are superb.

@@agordon20024 I dont think the Germans fallshirmjagers ever used reserve parachutes during ww2. (Early fallshirmjagers packed their own chutes) Also 2000 ft is too high for an actual combat jump. Even training jumps are conducted at almost half that altitude.

Tante Ju...loving the para's jumping at (7:04)....thanks for posting!....Didn't realise that the Germans used Allied parachutes....thought the Germans dangled /were suspended from the chute in a complete different way ..seems to be the Allied way of holding and controlling a chute.....just saying?????? Devil in the detail!....otherwise great video nonetheless!!!!!!!!!

Yes Fallschirm used single point harnesses which gave them no control. They could have used the same parachutes as Luftwaffe aircrew which had double point harnesses.
