I'm really excited about the potential of this truck. If it is anything like the DHK Zombie, it will be really cool. At 1/8th scale, it is slightly larger than the Zombie, but not by much. The internal layout is very different as it runs two batteries that on each side in the rear of the chassis with the motor, esc, and steering servo all pushed to the front. It appears to be laid out really well and is very clean. There are a ton screws holding this thing together with a lot of extra supports and braces. Looks ready to take a beating. Can't wait to get it out and bash it for you guys.

Quick notes: the DHK Zombie is 1/8th scale as well - just smaller. The Spur gear is plastic. I had said plastic in my first edit, but hitting it with my allen driver gave me the impression it was metal and visually I couldn't tell based on the shine. Cheap metal spur gears are available if you really want them.

Instead of "hoping" the esc didnt flop out into your steering linkage, i hope u zip tied it down. They all come up and its because they don't clean the chassis with an alcohol pad. If you clean it properly, and use 3m red double sided tape, you will need a prybar to get the thing off. Lol

Morning tony, great vid!, the truck looks a beast, yet another possibility of a new toy to add to my list!!lol!, i do like a nice orange and black paint job, i take it these trucks are quick?. Pity they are shipped with a crap batt charger, a good metal 4 button charger would be a good cheap'ish replacement, i like that they have a seperate reciever, easy to upgrade to a flysky or similar budge radio. Cant wait to see the vid when you give it a good thrashing!!lol!. Keep up the good work matey. All the best.

You had issues with the front and rear diff stripping out fast I've got the Maximus and my problem is that the screw that holds the pinion gear on loosens up and strips the diff and I'm only running a hundred amp esc from Kershaw designs basically a hobbywing

Hi Tony, I'veb been following your Chanel for a while, like your videos a lot. You just made a mistake, the dhk zombie is a 1/8th scale and not a 10th scale as you said on your video, otherwise, I agree with everything. Keep up the good work!

You are right...I just grabbed the Zombie and didn't re-up on my stats for it. Gets hard to remember for all of these rigs. Just a slightly smaller 1/8th scale. It also looks like my second-guessing the plastic spur gear was right either. I had shot that part 3 times because I said plastic, but when I hit it with my driver it sounded like metal. But it appears that it is plastic. I'm trying my best man. :) I should add to all my descriptions "Please Note: I try to be as accurate as possible with my information, but it may not always be right. I have the zombie 8e and it’s one of my favorite trucks.. it’s tuff and fast and once u take care of the loose screws problems it becomes a juggernaut!! Lol 😂 I run mines on 4s DHK makes pretty good trucks for the price

I have 6 Floureon lipos for 3 years and they all still charge up fully like the day they are new. the batteries you mentioned will work But, I would get a higher C rating of at least 30C. 35C would be be best for this. with a 25c rating the car would be running lean so to speak. it could not reach its full potential because 25C is slower current draw than say 35c. I have heard of having to low of a C rating cause your ESC to fail because it is starving. also get 3s

+Andrew Kauffmann at first I had said plastic but then looked again and hit Roth metal object. Thought it was metal. It may very well be plastic.

Upon 3rd inspection it does look plastic. My allen driver gives a false sound of it being metal.

only complaint i have and I own 2 DHKs... 1/8 Shogun and a Hunter SCT. is the phillip head screws suck bad. and the plastic they are scared into strips out to easy. next to spending $50 on stainless steel screws it still dont help when the plastics are all strripped out. Just horrible thing to have to deal with every time i work on it. i got stripped out heads stripped out holes. I mean I would have gladly paid another $20 or $25 to have hex screws. You just don't use phillips head screws in hobby grade cars. That being said how can I fix the stripped out plastic threads ?

Is there any reason why mine is so slow? I just got this truck and it won't go faster than max throttle trim.. I've calibrated the ESC but it's still so slow. Got the 4S battery setup with batteries fully charged. Don't know where I'm going wrong..

Hey! Man look again the Spur Gear is NOT Metal! I'm sure it was just a mistake ? As far I know in this price range Only the JLB Cheetah's 21101 & 11101 have a Metal Spur gears.

hi tony..i just got my maximus today and it seems it has a problem out of the box.the truck keeps running even if i dont squeeze the throttle.i put the throttle trim to full and dual rates also.kinda newbie here.

Throttle dual rates at full is fine...it will run at full speed for you. Throttle trim should be set around the middle. Basically start turning it up until the car starts to engage motor and back it off until it stops.

CCxRC yah i did try putting throttle trim at half and speed is getting slow..but when i try to put it on full and put the trigger to nuetral..it just keeps running.it'l only stop if i lower the throttle trim.

CCxRC ive recalibrated the esc and is working ok now.but when i tried to turn the transmitter off..the truck just revs.i dunno what to do anymore.do u think the esc is busted or something needs replacement?

rockhoundz john so it is working until you turn the transmitter off? I never turn my transmitter off with the car still on. It is the first thing on and the last thing off. It tells the car what to do.

Many times it is because you need to adjust the throttle trim on the controller. Turn it forward until the car barely starts to move, then back it off. Sometime you can see the light on the receiver showing when it is active. You want to back it up until the car doesn't think there is a little input on the control

Drako depends where you live and what you are willing to spend. Under $300 either of these are pretty great. I like that the Zombie only requires one battery. Overall very similar.

Hey man, I've got another question, would 2x 2s Floureon 6200 mah 40c batteries burn the ESC? It would be 80c in total vs 40c of stock batteries for a 120A ESC, so i'm worried i'll hurt it.

The batteries are run in series so it would be 4s 6200 mah 40c, so you are ok to do that

Tough call. But I usually say the Zombie because it only requires one battery to run it. So you can have 3 batteries and run for a while vs the Maximus that would require 6 batteries to run the same amount of time

Yes. It did come and its awesome. Took just shy of 3 weeks so not bad for traveling 12 thousand miles or so. Customs did their thing as it was repackaged in a white bag. All in all it was a great buy. I don't know if id order from them again though as it takes so long and I don't have any patience.

WOW, Gearbest Stuff Cost More than Banggood, AliExpress and even Amazon. The Maximus can be had for Around $400 from all three (without Coupons and for $350 w/Coupons) but sold for Over $500 on Gearbest????? So why support a Site that actually Screws Customers on Pricing? ... Tho I have to say, On WISH it can be for for over $1200, Hell even the $275-$360 from Banggood/Amazon/AliExpress (depending on which Version) JLB Cheetah can be found on WISH for $1200...

You have to look at when this video was published. At the time, they were cheaper and these vehicles cost less than any comparable vehicles on the market. The new 3s ARRMA lineup is what I would suggest now for low price brushless RTR.

I'm probably going to get a clear lexan body from JConcepts or Pro-line for it. I get my parts from Gearbest, AsiaTees, Aliexpress or Bangood. Depends on the part and price.

I like the Maximus. I always doubt waterproofing of receiver. The rest of the Maximus should be safe. I’d take out the receiver, open it and use conformal coating on the electronics board of the receiver. That or do the balloon trick to keep water out.
