Quick Tip- turn off the speak to chat if connecting to office calls on laptop say with ms teams, can't hear the other person every time you speak. Also the connection had a lot of stutter even after setting the reduced sound quality via app setting for stable connection. But an app update that came in 2 weeks later made it much better. Calls on phone are great, listening to music on multiple devices and switching calls is cool. But for office stuff I still need to use wire because it's simply much more audible and reliable.

This is a great video. My 2 cents after a couple of weeks of using the XM4: - what you say about the speak to chat is spot on, I happened to pause the music many time just by sneezing - it's a shame that LDAC is not available for windows and you can't access most settings there either (e.g. nose cancellation level). I bought it for home office use with a laptop and had to find an android tablet just to access the settings. - it's great that it turns off when you don't use it except you can't set the time limit for inactivation and the default is too soon for me - I liked the noise cancellation best right after unboxing. Then I did the optimization just like you (and Sony) recommended and the result is not as good (too much white noise). If you buy one and like it how it is, do not touch the optimizer!
@Ahmed-su3xm3 жыл бұрын
Idk if you've ever gotten the answer, for whoever reads this, all you have to do is turn off ambient sound control and the white noise ANC will be gone and you'll have the total silent noise cancellation type. If you leave ambient sound control on in the app, then you will have the white noise in the background. Hope this helped!

Yes. Using developer options to force LDAC is a great tip. But keep in mind, once you change the data rate to 900, you need to mess with the other settings like bitrate and sample rate before it actually will kick in. Like just change each setting once each, and then change back to 24/96. You should hear the music cut out, and start cutting out once 900 kicks in BUT don't worry, once you shut your phone screen off the connection gets A LOT better Hell mine I was even able to walk into another room and it only cut out for a millisecond. When it was in my pocket it was stable the whole time unless I walked to another room . Sometimes changing environment can affect it but it usually corrects itself quickly You really need hi res audio files or Amazon music app with UHD to take advantage of LDAC 900, otherwise the ldac 600 is totally fine, so is 300. Eitherway it's much better than adaptX

I can't thank you enough for this video! I learned way more from watching this than reading the official Sony manual. I've never used a pair of noise cancelling headphones before so this was my first pair. I already knew about most of the features but after reading the "manual" that came with them I only sort of understood how to use about half of them. The noise cancelling features weren't even mentioned apart from 4 obscure QR codes, which lead to videos that told me the functions excisted but not how to fully use them. ("Press this button to do this!" Eh, ok... that button does like 5 different things, how long should I press it?) I need precise directions damnit, Sony! :P So in light of that, this video gave me some very direct and to the point instructions that was incredibly helpful for me! Thank you again!

I already own one and it's black. Thanks to you guys, I decide to buy it after watching your previous review compared SONY wh-1000XM4 with XM3, NC 700 and Surface. In the beginning, I feel the speak to chat feature a little bit annoying. Because I have to disable it by using SONY headphones apps every times when I use it for conversation in Zoom meeting. But now, I glad can disable it manually. Thanks for your important tips there. The audio quality quite balance in treble and bass. But for audiophile, you can boost it by adjusting the equalizer in headphone apps manually. And Just FYI, for the microphone...I found it not so clearly but still good and acceptable. To overcome this issue, I buy aftermarket 3.5 mm audio cable with in-line microphone for just $ 20 and solve it. I think all wireless Headphones have issue with their built in mic when using it for conversation scheme, since the mic position too far from our mouth. So, I think the problem is not the quality of built in mic, including XM4. Overall I really satisfy with my SONY XM4. Trustworthy brand, best ANC performance, premium and simple good looking, sound quality, comfort in my head and ears, and last but not least, the price is outstanding reasonable compared to its competitors.

@@DHRME yes the Bose mute, 3 user chosen ANC/passthrough levels and voice assistant button control is far superior on the Bose to the Sony and I miss it but I can’t get past the music sound sadly, I wish I did like it 🥺

Great tips. Thanks a lot. I just bought the XM4 recently and I'm not sure which equalizer configuration is best for random music. Do you have some suggestions? Please. Thank you so much for the

I personally prefer the excited eq as it brightens up all aspects of listening, deepens the bass and brings out the highs. But I found the best thing to do was listen to say a 1 minute track or sample of music in different genres on different eq settings and mess around a bit with the personalisation, it can all be reset easily if you're not happy with it.

i have a question, do i need a DAC for using this with a macbook / ipad ? and does the bundled 3.5mm wire supports 32bit/384khz output?

This is a very helpful video i must say!! Cant wait to get mine in tomorrow! Its nice to know some tips and tricks that way i can adjust them to my liking more quickly. One question though since these will be my first "pro" headphones that have their own app and dedicated EQ, since my phone has "Dolby atmos" sound and i use its custom EQ, do i have to turn off one EQ to use the other? I dont want to cause any type of distortion by having the bass in both EQ's on by accident.
