Sadly for me the ambient sound call quality suck on the XM4, I still Use the Crusher ANC for calls and Ambient sound, now the XM4s are the best sounding headphones I ever had, not Audiophile sound exactly but the EQ helps a ton, also the Bass is so good that it doesn't need to be all the way up, the XM4s taught me what good bass is.

I don't like the wf series one bit because of the mountains of technical issues but so far wh xm series has been the most reliable piece of technology I've owned. Great review. I have had these a couple months and really enjoy them. These are travel/commuting headphones and they are brilliant in that role. The sound is fun and engaging. Good audiophile headphones start at around this price so for all the features these have I think they are great value for money. I find that I use mine at home too rather than switch on an amp and plug in my wired cans. They are so much more convenient.

Hey Floss, in order to use high quality LDAC codec instead of AAC you have to go to your Bluetooth settings and select "high quality audio". Unfortunately you cannot set it in the app itself.

Late to the party but just got these as an early Christmas present from my in-laws. Holy crap they are good! Just enough of everything in the bass and mids. I‘ve had problems with over-earphones. There’s too much pressure on my temples. No problems with these, i just did a three hour hike with these and no sweat. Highly recommended

Floss, I was waiting for your review to make my final decisions on these and you got me over the line. My last question was if the multipoint works between iOS and Android (e.g. Android phone and iPad scenario) and you've answered that (albeit with an iPhone but same same). We'll done on an amazing review again - minus the singing of course. You either hate it or you truly despise it. I'm even beyond that bruh 😆

The pads are irreplaceable, as stated several times by Sony reps in Amazon's QnA sections. If you're a heavy user, that could be a dealbreaker as it was for me. They want you to throw away XM4 after a year or so and buy XM5 instead of replacing the pads. Tooks me usually 8-12 months to wear out replaceable pads on my QC35. Replaced them at least 2 times already.

They actually put thicker plastic on the point where it breaks the most, so it will pretty much no longer crack easily. It's weighs about the samedue to the chips used being less heavy(for example the bluetooth chip), but due to thicker plastic and stuff it's only a gram less heavy.

My old Skullcandy headphone, I used it everyday for more than a year to the point that it is getting worn down from so much use and I decided to get these Sony headphones, got it on sale in Amazon, $70 off.
