Ahsan Zulkarnain Niloy has the potential to become one of the greatest stalwarts of the Dagarvani Dhrupad tradition. The presentation is sublime, to say the least. I will mention just two salient points out of several that could be said about this rendition: 1. After a long time, I have heard a Bhoop that has never drifted towards Shuddh Kalyan. Those who know will realize what an astounding feat this is! Only the great masters have the capability to render such finesse. Niloy Sahab has effortlessly achieved this. 2. Bhoop is not known to be aligned to country tunes. It is an ancient Raag and staunchly embedded in strict classical tradition. Inside this fabric Ahsan Niloy has entwined elements of folk traditions and yet it seems to blend in seamlessly creating an atmosphere of magical realism and transporting the listener to the rivers and fields of Niloy's motherland - Bangladesh. This is an extraordinary achievement, to be honest, I have never heard anything like this from anyone, except maybe in some renditions of Pt. Ravi Shankar/Ustad Vilayat Khan, never from any vocal artist. May God bless you, Niloy Sahab..
