Is a life of fear and people-pleasing holding you back from truly living? Today’s guest shares how a lifetime of negative self-talk, people-pleasing, and dimming her light out of fear of being seen led her to neglect her body and its needs, ultimately resulting in a cancer diagnosis.
Today, on The Dhru Purohit Show, Dhru sits down with author and spiritual speaker Anita Moorjani to discuss Anita’s cancer diagnosis and the spiritual and emotional themes she believes led to her diagnosis and near-death experience. Anita shares how she carried a lifetime of fear, unworthiness, and people-pleasing tendencies that led to significant energy depletion. She also discusses the life lessons and mindset changes she learned while in a coma and how she is navigating her life after nearly dying.
Anita Moorjani is a renowned author and spiritual speaker known for her transformative journey beyond the brink of death. Anita battled end-stage cancer before experiencing a remarkable near-death experience (NDE) that shifted her perspective on life. Her bestselling memoir, “Dying to Be Me,” chronicles her profound journey and miraculous healing. Its popularity established her as the premier NDE expert. Her teachings empower others to embody their highest version and live vibrant, authentic lives.
In this episode, Dhru and Anita Moorjani dive into:
-The emotional and spiritual themes that Anita believes led to her cancer diagnosis
-Fear and people-pleasing as major energy depleters
-Anita’s childhood experiences and the feelings of unworthiness
-A diagnosis of cancer after a lifetime of neglecting herself
-Why a death timeline can be harmful to a mindset

I’ve had cancer twice, breast and ovarian. I would never want my doctors to hold back information. I’ve changed my whole world. I have finally become a carnivore. I am very active at my church. They were talking about giving me a volunteer job where I would essentially know/learn about people’s problem/issues. I let it be known that I could not do it. I told them that stress can cause cancer and I just could not take that chance. They looked at me like I was a bit crazy but I was adamant. I’m working with children at church and I absolutely love it.

I was thinking of helping people with depression despite going through it myself. I am no longer searching for that. I think it will suck the life out of me. I think I’ll go into health and wellness coaching. I’m praying for God to guide me. At a major crossroads. Limiting ties with people who always judge me and don’t treat me with respect. It’s lonely but I know I will meet more people like me in the near future. I also died for 2 minutes and came back to life. Healing from a condition for the past 10 years. It is frustrating but I trust my path. I want to help people to heal themselves. I will!

@@VeganBambi actually, we have been “fed” a bunch if lies. Do you know who developed the food pyramid? Scientists that work for the processed food industry. When scientists can say with a straight face that cereal is healthier than real meat, there is a problem. The rate of type 3 diabetes is ballooning because if all the grains people are eating. Even the fake meat is grains. It is now believed that alzheimer and dementia should be reclassified at type 3 diabetes. More and more people are developing arthritis at younger and younger rates. It’s the grains and all those supposedly healthy vegetables, but please don’t eat a meat based diet. Younger and younger people are having heart attacks, they are not eating a meat based diet, it’s grains and vegetables. So, go ahead, be a vegan.

I agree! My breast cancer appeared during a most stressful time in my life. Stress reduces the effectiveness of our immune system which, in my opinion, can let certain illnesses take hold. It may not be true for everyone who gets cancer, but I can definitely see how it happened in my case!

THANK YOU!!!! I just finished watching this video from start to finish… a whopping 2:08:52 later I am absolutely gobsmacked as to how absolutely incredible it was to hear what Anita experienced and how closely I could relate to much of what she said and experienced! Although I personally have never had an NDE, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that my father (who had late stage Lewy body dementia) did experience a NDE when he was unresponsive for three days and the medical staff at the hospital had already written him off and my sister and I were told that “it was his time”… long story short, my sister fought with the doctors to treat him for pneumonia as we believed he had aspirated… but were told that they didn’t think so, all without doing any scans of his lungs because he was unresponsive. My sister wasn’t about to give up… she pushed until they somehow found a way to do the scan… and as a result found a spot in his lungs on the scan. They put him on some powerful intravenous antibiotics and less than 12 hours later, our father came to and became responsive! There is SO much more to his story, but after he “came back” we learned from what he told us and put all of the pieces together… without any doubt in our minds, we knew he had seen both my mom and his sister… both who had passed many years ago! Hearing what Anita experienced makes SO much sense to me and I have found this video to be so incredibly powerful to me as I myself am navigating a challenging time in my own personal life! Thank you again for having this interview with Anita and for sharing it with the world through social media! I will be sharing this today on my FB page and encouraging everyone I know to watch it in its entirety! This was to me THE best 2 hours, 8 minutes and 52 seconds that I have “invested” in my life! Gratefully yours! Monika 🥰🙏😇💕👍

Loved this interview with Anita and Dhru. I saw Anita in London and Bristol several years ago at her events. I learnt a lot from this interview which served as a reminder to love myself. I live and moved away from my home town to regroup. I had a life between lives hynotherapy session which was amazing. I had a prebirth experience where I felt love and joy and a peacefulness. I felt concious and felt myself as an essence. I need to keep drawing back to moments of joy and peace. I practise a lot of mindfulness to get to the inner knowing.

Maybe a silly question and it is about my age: i´m 76 years old, grateful and happy for the life I live, professionally still active, love what I do, struggling with the maintenance of our old wooden house and "english country garden" i.e a wonderful, demanding garden with many wild corners....My fear is not the ageing in itself, it is of getting ill, horrible diseasies, loosing my mind and all the rest of it. I’ve always tried to do the things I decide to do very well and it’s often a frustrating, long, detailed process. This personality trait caused my beloved Chase Dabney and my bffs to accuse me of “not loving” myself enough for me to continue being around them. Then it was beat into me so deeply that I ABSOLUTELY MUST “love myself” before I can love or be loved by anyone or anything else. So much that no matter how much I care about anyone or everything, I don’t feel love. I don’t care about having a long life. 4 decades has been plenty. I hope my lack of self love would put me in the grave soon. Because I’m tired of this stupid species.

It's sad that Anita felt horrible about the rude messages she received. Dhru was right when he said people like that are going through something. Many people who write rude comments seek attention or feel emptiness inside of themselves. Some of their comments are fictional but they are so empty inside and lonely that they make things up for anyone to give them attention or they want everyone to be miserable like them so they spew negative energy. I've learned not to feel bad about myself because of whatever negativity is sent my way but to feel sorry for the ignorance of others since they have not seen true love and positivity in their lives.
