I belong to SC caste from Maharashtra. my grandfather was very poor and could not even afford to provide normal food and clothes to my father. we had no land or asset as such. Because of poor living standards and zero financial support my father could not pursue higher education and thus failed 12th std. he started doing labor work on daily wages for around 30rs daily. as my grandfather was ill and retired all the responsibilities had to be fulfilled by my father. with just 30rs of daily wage he somehow managed himself to get married and as well as marry off his 3 sisters. when he used to get done from work while coming back his financially stable lower middle caste and few upper caste friends use to spend money on alcohol and dance bar. but he saved every penny he could and later on became a civil contractor. since then he started earning well and started investing in lands and real estate. now he owns 3 lands and one flat all on his own. he put me and my 2 brothers into good schools and did not use the benefit of reservation as we were financially good. he always said we are not taking reservation just so the one who really needs it can take the benefit of it. Also, i forgot to mention during his childhood he had to beg to get food for his family and faced a lot of discrimination from upper caste people.

Everything was alright but u sounded very diplomatic in ur opinion. When a candidate toils hard for 2 yrs at such a tender age for such difficult comptetive examinations like jee and see other candidates in his own peer group securing better seats than him inspite of having a low score, how does he feel is simply unimaginable. And in these exams even difference of 1 mark changes your rank by thousands. The better solution should be to provide free coaching and financial assistance to the needy ones and then let them fight their own battle. Why killing talent in name of reservation??

@@sumittayade9390 that doesn't work bro... Caste system is here for 2000 yrs. Caste certificates were first issued roughly 70 yrs ago. It's issued for a purpose and that's reservation. If you remove that you are removing the equality of opportunity for millions of underprivileged and lower caste Indians. This prevents them from social and financial mobility and keeps them in the state they were for 2000 yrs. Now even the so called upper caste people have reservation called Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). So all sections of the society are benefitted . Inorder to stop discrimination we need to start this from school, we need to educate the students to treat everyone with dignity and respect. If we make the right steps we can eradication caste within the next 200 yrs.

But the real problem is that most of the benefits of reservation are availed by the rich or upper middle class SC-ST who live in cities not by lower middle class or poor SC - ST... For eg - my friend who is a SC his father and mother both are having Class 1 government job i. e 4-5lakh rs per month and has 3 houses in Delhi itself he went to the best school in Delhi and there is no way one can tell if he is poor ... I am an SC. Have heard stories from my father that how my father was forced to sit at very back of class in school and he didn't even had slippers and had to go bare feet in winters and summer. And many more incidents of discremination and humiliation. But he fought all the odds and managed to get himself a decent job in bank. He gave us a decent life but also he worked hard to uplift rest of his brothers and sisters. He worked hard to pay off all the debts his family had. He taught us to always remember where we belong so that we are always down to earth and feel responsibility for others of our community who still didn't got chance to change their lives.

We live in 2km away from Kolkata. Here we have separate localities for low caste & others. I belongs to SC caste, and i took benefit of reservation in my study, only because of very poor condition of my family as my father was died in my childhood and my mother was housewife only. This reservation gives me chance to do btech, and now I am doing a job in private company, with some good salary, my social standard has been increased. So according to me and my upper caste frnds, reservation is good in my case, as I was really deserved. But at the same time, my one of classmate belongs to SC caste wasted the seat after dropping the degree in between after lots of re-appears and also wasted the whole stipend money on luxury life,received from government that was the refund of total fees of college. At that case me as well my upper caste frnds thinks that he doesn't deserved reservation due to his well family rich condition. So i think govt should give reservation only to the weaker section SC STs, even after proper enquiry from their neighborhood and after checking their household condition & salary etc. As I am now well settled, I personally feel that i should not use the benefit of reservation for my daughter when she well start studying. And also I try to give her freedom to find her life-partner herself, in any caste when she will be well educated.

I'm Upper Caste and i totally agree about you reaping benefits of reservation was justified bcz of your family situations but the problem steps in when people who never have faced castism or in fact lived a lavish life than a large number of Upper caste people ( my classmate in class 10th was a ST girl and so fr she was so rich and kind that she was the one feeding us in cateens ) . The majority of SC/ST holding top ranks and position in Govt exams were already well off in their life and this reservation was a cheery on cake for them. Numbers don't lie btw. 1) % of Bhramin population in India : 26%. 2) % of Bhramin population in middle class/working class : 65%. 3) 97% of the jobs in India come under unorganised sector. Out of the 3% of jobs in the organised sector ; 60% of them are government jobs for which there is 50% reservation (which is basically applicable for 74% of India's population. However those OBC's above the creamy layer have to register themselves under general category. Yes this is misused..that can be addressed through reforms). For such a small number why the disproportionate outrage? 4) % OF BHRAMINS in teaching positions of higer education : 65%. 5) % OF BHRAMIN students in higher education : 63%. Are reforms necessary? Yes. But is reservation/affirmative action wrong? Absolutely not. It's social justice. Just that some uppercaste/Bhramin folks still don't realise how privelaged they are just because of their birth. For all the atrocities that has been committed in the past ; frankly the uppercastes must be thankful that they haven't been victims/survivors of anti-bhramin pogroms.

The reservation system in education should only be based upon the income of the individual's household, my friend's father earns less than 1 LPA and he comes under EWS category he got similar marks/percentile in JEE as our peer group at school but still he won't get a good branch in colleges like DTU/NSUT, while me myself an OBC-NCL would get an average branch in those colleges like EE or ME and our other friend whose an SC would get a good branch like MCE or ECE in those colleges itself, and we also are well in our financial condition. It really breaks me and my friend's heart! he's still very very happy for us and we all are very good friends despite this shit system, he said he will take a drop if he doesn't get into those colleges this year 😔 and we also are not heroic enough to leave those seats as our parents won't agree on it. So as an OBC myself, im sorry to all my general category bhai behn

What ive learned from the video and comments is that 1. Reservation should be eradicated. But the government should provide free education and opportunities according to the economic status of the people instead of Caste. 2. The thoughts of being superior than other human should be erased from the upper caste mindsets , its get deeper when people starts to do honour killings, in the name of caste ,creed , everyone should be treated equa lly there are still people put there, who wont sip a water at a Lower caste house. 3. Instead of blaming for seats or reservations quotas, demand government to open more educational institutions, and provide more job opportunities. he didn't know how probability works. also, a student who has marks 86% is definitely better than a student who has 60% marks. Maybe he gets improved in the future but not at the time so that person is more suitable than engineering seats. There was a survey in an IIT college (can't remember the name read in newspaper 2014 or 2015 not sure) that student has attended with reservations system they have poor performance than that student who has not reservations system.

Sir, Ideology of reservation is to eradicate insane Caste discrimination in Indian society to bring equality in the society, to establish right to live with pride, to bring economic equality, to bring social synergy and oneness in society etc., so that India's can develop. Unfortunately this purpose is served very little in India. Those who have benefited are called as creamy layer is totally wrong. In reality, the economic power can be seen to some extent only after second generation only. 1st generation benefited only for survival roti, kapada our makan where in 25 years have gone. Next 25 to 30 years have shown improvement for 2nd generation and there economic power is improved better for 50% of the people. Even today all Sc Sts are living with fear insecurity feeling due to existing rampant caste discrimination every section of the society. However, this SC ST creamy layers economically has to be analysed and compared with the proportional economical power of people of other societies. Unfortunately, no comparision. SC ST' Economic power is much much behind than the upper caste people in the society. They are still discriminated by caste in office, in villages, in social groups everywhere. Even today % of Sc Sts entrepreneurs if considered, they are not even 0.5% how pathetic. Where as other upper caste it is 98% surge. Hence, Sc St so called creamy layers, economic sustenance and social dignity has to be compared with proportionate improvement with others in the society. This shows clearly, reservation need to be continued till untouchability and social inequality is removed for dalits. To eradicate untouchability practiced since 1000s of year shall need atleast several 100s of years to eradicate totally. It is possible only with enforcement of law to change yhere mindset. Till then reservation policy to be continued with good intention.

Root cause is casteism. "Every action has an equal and opposite reaction". Once there was a time when there were no access of education,clean water, higher job to such people. I belong to the general category while my friend belongs to obc his dad earns more than my dad and gave him everything he wants, his dad also studied in a good school. Recently we both placed in colleges I got a Bcom prog at Sri Guru Gobind Singh college of commerce and he got BCom Hons in Hansraj college best college out there. he scored 704 out of 800 with a 5200 rank approx on the other side I scored 749 out of 800 and 1967rank. I really worked hard for this exam and also canceled my trip with my family in order to get top college. My friend who with a lower score than mine got into a far better college than me. But my country has chosen a student with 88% over 94%. the caste-based system is everywhere from govt jobs to engineering colleges and only general students suffer. in the end, why would anyone want to study in a country where their caste is above then knowledge, hard work, sacrifices, and marks THEY SAY IF YOU ARE BORN BRAHMINS YOU DID PUNIYA IN YOUR PAST BUT TODAY I DON'T THINK SO. BRAHMIN TAG KICKED ME FROM GETTING MY DREM COLLEGE THIS NEEDS TO BE change.
