The beauty of the Taj is 1. its symmetry 2. Largest "onion dome" of its time (soon surpassed in eastern europe). Its largely debated (in Russia) where the onion domes were first constructed. By miniature paintings it's obviously in Russia (the debate now is whether they onion domes were made of wood or stone. An interesting aside: Non of the Hindu temples have onion domes or double ceiling. Its speculated (mathematically) that the dome size could increase dramatically due to the inner ceiling acting as a cantilever.

Do you really think that Mughals who have didn't even knew how to build their own home started building monuments like Taj mahal or Red Fort. All are Indian architecture. And Mughals became puppets of Dhuranni Dyanasty in the Afghanistan, and later Maratha, Maratha hardly rules India, because of constant fights with Mughals and then it was Maratha that Britist defeated to capture Indian fully.

Somewhere I read that there was a foreign author who claimed that taj mahal was a temple and he provided some logics behind it. Like the shape of the moon and lotus design inside the palace as lotus is used in Hindu worship and rose is preferred by islam..there were several other points he/she mentioned..but congress govt under Indira Gandhi banned it

You missed an important fact about Taj Mahal. When britishers came, they actually stole all the precious gems and diamonds embedded on the walls and doors of taj mahal. After some time when taj mahal started to gain some popularity in the west, under pressure they actually returned a part of those stolen gems and put them back into place. Not all gems were returned (maybe they would have already sold the most precious stones from that building or kept them intentionally). I read that they even destroyed the guarden located in the frount side of taj mahal. Sometimes i wonder how this marvelous structure would have actually looked like when it was in it's "original" glory.
