Nice. A lot better than the simple kinetic sculpture found at Bellingham Station on Railroad Avenue, where I live. But Anthony Howe lives quite close to this town, on Orcas Island.

So beautiful. While I still feel anxiety just under my breastbone while watching this particular sculpture, it becomes bearable...somehow smooth and manageable just for the length of the video. It is but a dream to have such a sculpture, I could never afford one, but it is none-the-less a touch of peace for just a little bit and for that I thank you.

You could probably integrate some sort of turbine-style wiring into the joints, which would allow for the sculpture to generate electricity as it spins, making for an enlightening AND environmentally satisfying sculpture. Where there is motion, there is recoverable energy, and I'd vastly prefer to have stuff like this dotting the landscape instead of huge industrial-looking turbines.

+Johann Kulsic Unfortunately this type of sculpture is probably not as efficient at capturing energy from the wind as turbines.

Just because something spins does not mean it can be utilized to create electricity. Which is to say, creating electricity takes power and the effort to spin the alternator used to make electricity would too great for this to overcome and it would never move. These sculptures rely on smooth bearing to operate, so that even slight winds are enough to turn their massive and heavy structures. They are not designed to produce torque like a wind turbine is. For reference, modern wind turbines use the same design for their blades that airplane wings do in order to not only utilize the downward force of gravity, but also the upward force of differing air pressures to create power both on the downward as well as the upward stroke. If you put a little tiny motor on one of these you might be able to get enough energy to power a small led.

if the center point is an intersection, the branches must be shorter than the radius, or each have a different start angle, which can be taken from the subscript, or just count the number of times the for next loops are worked through

What powers the device?
@HOWEARTDOTNET

Psychic energy generated by hundreds of surrounding insects that have focused on the shininess of the stainless steel. Ants, beetles, but mostly bees are responsible. In 1843 Hubert Carmichael demonstrated this phenomenon when he balanced a spoon on a fork in the middle of a hay field on a hot August day in the English countryside. Not really, just kidding you after a long day in the shop welding and grinding. The wind powers the device.

I thought it was wind, but then I deviated towards electronics due to the misconception that for wind to work it will have to be perfect flow of wind and always in the same direction. I guess there are levers and cogs that are inside we can't see whose work is to make the structures spin simultaneously without breaking the flow. My cluttered mind always deviates from simplicity. Nice work Anthony. Very mesmerizing.
