Mr. 8-Bit Doggo if you say so. I’m definitely not sold on their “system” with masculine and feminine variants/expressions of each function etc. But as with many ideas, there’s something to them. I’m cherry pickin'.😉 I think no one has yet successfully defined the functions as completely separate-and different ways of thinking without overlap. That’s a must to even talk about functions in a system. To do so I think one first has to define thinking in general and built upon that. And I don’t mean the word used to describe an intellectual process. I mean the raw thinking mechanism that’s in play whenever you (or the dog) consciously act e.g. trying to catch a ball coming at you. Yes, I agree with Eric at TwFP that thoughts are metaphysical actions, hence thinking requires energy. After describing how each type of thinking (attending to) works. The next step would be to try to explain how they link together. Since it’s very likely that multiple functions are used in what to us seems like one activity but when zoomed in on a timeline consist of multiple steps. Switching back and forth between functions I order to produce what we could call the result of a process within the system.

@@robbished Feeling: what to do, thinking: how to do it. Fi-Te: everybody decide for himself, what he wants. Then we all meet, and talk how to do it. We share different ways of doing things, everything has pros and cons, and we decide based on our precise Fi values(time, energy, fun, cost), how to do it. We standardize how we work (ISO is good example of Te standard). Te people are universalists. We first agree on something, and then we do it. Ti-Fe: everybody builds his own way of doing something(own way of repairing cars, baking cakes, offering services,...). And then we meet, and we share our problems, and we make friends with people, who do what we need. And then we help each other. We standardize, how we behave (social etiquette). Ti people are specialists. First we do things. and then we decide together with other people, whether it is valuable.

As an Fi dom growing up, I very much let other’s opinions get under my skin. I think the conflict was my understanding of me, didn’t line up with what others were saying and I had to wrestle with that. It was my choice to believe it or not. I just have always wanted the tribe to see me as how I saw me, and when it didn’t line up that was when I struggled. Now that I’m older I don’t let stuff get under my skin as often or as long, but my default program is me against the tribe as an IP.

I'm an INFP and I totally agree with your interpretation. This is pretty much exactly how I see Fi interacting with the world. Personally, I gave up on the world at a pretty young age so I barely worry about what others think lol, but for a lot of other Fi doms I know it's a constant struggle coming to terms with your not being able to see eye-to-eye with the rest of the world about anything. It's either you're wrong or everyone else is wrong, and both answers are incredibly depressing haha, so it makes sense why Fi doms would struggle with issues of depression and insecurity.

Anjel yes, I am an ISFP so I also think I worry more about the whole “SF” what is cool and popular even though I fight the whole bandwagon attitude! I am still wired with the Se! I think my Se vs your Ne is going to give a completely different flavor to our Fi.

Sheila w I can see that, I would assume your Se is like “Let’s gather all the awesome sensory experiences!” Meanwhile my Ne (I’m also INFP) is like “Let’s gather all the weird but meaningful abstract ideas and analogies!” Either way the tribe hates us, lol.

Golden yes my Se is like ohhh look at that, I wanna do that, I wanna try this, I wanna experience that, I wanna buy this, I wanna touch and smell everything in a store! just curious, it has been 2 years, so how did that workout for you? from a fellow Di myself, I know what are talking about so how did you reconcile your mindset with the world because as you probably know one need to cooperate and work together with its systems in order to survive that often can mean you have to be materialistic and to even compromise sometime of your own values just to have it your way letter down the line, to be free to be you you have to succeed in this world definition of success only then well you be free to be yourself and do what you want, hmmm as I'm writing this I realised the price for this is that by the time you reach that goal you have kissed so much ass that and comprised so much of your value you forget who you are and why those values mattered at all if you can just comprise them so easily in hippie words you lose your soul... which still leaves with the question how to best navigate life? ... best for you that is...any advice fellow Di?

The way he turned his head with the five nights at Freddie’s mask was so funny. I used to hide in closets and scare all my family members growing up. I am significantly younger than all my family members growing up, so they would find my face peering through coats as they put their coats in the closet. Although, age really has nothing to do with it, I’m still a kid at heart... I would wait for hours in random locations with masks. It was self entertainment even when they never found me ahaha I would laugh at how they might get scared to myself the whole time I waited ahaha

My dilemma as a child with the opinions of others was a fight between truth or insanity. I would have this dilemma as long ago as I remember of 'are they right??' and seeing that if they were right, then the world makes no sense- I questioned my ability to understand and perceive reality correctly. I get caught up in the struggle of whether others are right about me, but it was more 'is it true or not', and the things that they said that kept seeming to be untrue really rattled me. I thought they must be correct- I knew that about other things they were right when I was wrong, and to learn as a very young child how to partly trust and partly not trust someone is hard. It seems that I stopped being able to personally trust people (I can still weigh if what they say is true or not) because I hate to have my view of reality look wonky and illogical. I go at people defensive and skeptical.

Going through this a LOT, especially over the past few months. I believe I’m Si/Ti. It’s been a struggle to find a balance between tribe and self while constantly being surrounded by people and rarely getting much of a break in between (at least not enough of one). I’ve been dealing with some insecurity regarding my Fe. I can utilize it in short increments, but it’s very draining for me if I’m in a position where I can’t frequently switch it off, such as certain work settings. It makes me feel like I’m being interpreted as a dumb puppy and a pushover (no offense, Fe is a lovely, intelligent and strategic function) and my Ti takes huge issue with this. That last statement is, I’m sure, coming from my insecurity in knowing that Fe is a weakness for me, and I’ve come to know that I do NOT want to be misinterpreted as weak or vulnerable. I’ve been trying to push myself to use more Fe on a daily basis, and to push through the discomfort. It’s been shaky. But I understand that this is a valuable thing to work on and take with me throughout my life, and something I cannot escape and hide from.

I'm confused... If this is savior Di, then what's this savior De? I've had depression for years, which I thought came from a failure of getting validation from others, a failure of De, failing to measure up to external measurements. Girls say they want a man that's handsome, rich, and all these things, things that I'm not. How can I find someone interested in me if I'm not those things? At the same time, I've often gone along with what say my group of friends want to do even if I personally didn't like it. I was often discouraged from expressing my own opinions, almost as if I wasn't allowed to have an opinion. So I thought and others thought that was De stuff. I mean if I can't contribute anything to the tribe then the best thing to do is remove myself, so I don't drag anyone down with my uselessness. Someone help me understand this.

It's one of the most controversial ones so I'm a bit hesitant to throw that out there, especially since so many people mistype themselves as one. Honestly it's really helped me understand why I do things the way I do and helped me understand my flaws. I've been able to express myself better with my girlfriend and has helped me understand her that much better. What about yourself?

@@Koffent Yeah, you should be hesitant, lol. Too many internet INFJs. But interestingly enough, the more I look around, the more I see types that appear to be INFJs. Maybe it's because they've mastered the art of blending in, maybe it's because they're drawn to my major (law), but they don't seem as rare as they used to. Maybe yes though, in comparison to the other types. I haven't taken any official test as yet either, but I also believe I'm an INFP. No secondary type. INFP makes the most sense. It perfectly describes my flaws and because of this, I'm on a hard though rewarding journey of self-discovery and personal growth.
