We had other plans, that were probably worthy of an Indie rom-com, but I fell at roller derby practice so you took me to the emergency room instead and as I was filling out forms, you said "so, what are you looking for?" I said, "maybe an x-ray, although I really don't think it's broken, it's probably just a really bad bruise, it's lucky it's my left arm." "uh no, what are you looking for with... this?" "OH... just the basics, a queer, polyconcempted, anti-oppressive, animal friendly, gluten free relentlessly complicated courting ritual, followed by some kind of... illogical commitment period... let's make it worth it. I wanna live in that moment just before a kiss, not awake yet, but not dreaming not all grown up, but no longer teething, let me be the laughter on your lips. let me skinny dip in your mouth in the moonlight, let me be a whisper before you fall asleep, I'll whisper 'you... are everything'. not really everything, but a lot of things, like soft, and warm, and super sexy, wanna wake up and play with me? you probably won't get a lot of sleep, if you're not careful, I could fall deep in like with you. I'll respect every one of your untouchable places 'cause I've got a shit ton of them, myself. for instance, don't touch my heart when it's thundering, you wouldn't swim in a lightning storm, would you? that was a test; you said yes, so you passed. yes, my body is a mine field on its bad days-- on those bad days when mirrors are monsters, make your eyes into a safe place for me to hide from my own self doubt. 'cause sometimes, I'm made of pussy willows. sometimes, I'm made of what mountains are made of when they laugh at the wind for trying to blow them down. but sometimes, i'm made of glass. I don't wanna say 'be careful,' though. I don't really need you to be careful, I just wanna say that I can't help it if I'm sharp when I shatter, so don't tell me it's silly that I'm afraid of the dark, just fuck me with all the lights on in the middle of the day, I'll show you my home run dance. It's not very cool. In fact, if you're looking for that side of me, don't hold your breath. don't hold your breath at all, I wanna be deep in your... lungs and stuff so... breathe."
