I was diagnosed about 2 months ago. When I had the initial eye test I would have passed the driving qualification. 3 weeks later when I saw the specialist, I would have failed. I have had one treatment (injection in the eye) and my vision has improved so much I am back to passing a driving qualification. I am optimistic.

I've been diagnosed 3 weeks ago and the eye injection hurt a bit but I keep my faith in My GOD and JESUS CHRIST, Now I have love and emotional support from my family, but make no mistake, this scares the heck out of me, I've been in Combat as a Medic and tours half around the world, I'm not a tough guy and as I said this scares the heck out of me, I've been in the medical field for 39 years so I totally understand what's going on with my Right eye. I hope my Left eye stays health enough for the rest of my life and everything I'm doing to my Right eye slows DME down, thank you all for sharing your stories and I pray for you as well. Thank You Sir/Ma'am. THE SARGE

Shots are truly horrible. Sometimes the doctor's assistant will not numb the eye properly and you will feel the needle go into your eye which is just as unpleasant as it sounds. You also run the risk of having your retina detach from the shots. This happened to a friend of mine who is now completely blind in the eye that they gave the injection to. And get this...it was the wrong eye. Many of these retina specialists treat their patients like they are in an assembly line. They overbook patients and make mistakes because of their greed and fatigue. The medicine can also cause a stroke or a heart attack.
