The BEST atmopsphere EVER. This music is so calm, but so mysterious and somehow anxious. Sometimes I just launch Diablo, stay in the Village and just read / think or do whatever else while listening to this music looped.

LOL! So true! I've played D3 way more than D1, but D1's music and atmosphere still haunts me. :) D1, I played on PS1 decades ago, but still remember the music including the dungeons.

It was enthralling and enchanting. The darkness of it was spooky at times. The story was captivating and I felt like I was truly a part of it. I will never again get the feelings diablo 1 gave me but I get a little bit every time I hear this song.

This music always gave me the creeps... I was around 6-8 years old when this came out and I always watched my older brother play it. Whenever he started the game and those first few notes rang it just made me want to leave and go hide in a corner with the lights on. They really created a masterpeice of isolation with this single tune.

The guy who composed this track still works for Blizzard. He does a lot of music from WoW. Not sure if it's tech limitations or not, but the music he makes now is a step above.

yep :) I had it and I remember playing it with my dad way back in time, it actually ran pretty well on the ps1 if I recall right (the controls I mean) ! I kinda always liked Diablo 1 over Diablo 2, although 2 is awesome too. 3 looks really really neat and can't wait to get it !

I especially remember the Tristram Theme Music. I always thought it was a bit spanish touched from the instrumental Guitar in it. Sucked me right into the Atmosphere of the Game soo cool.

This takes me back. I remember getting this on the PS1 and the first "boss" was the chubby devil looking thing I think The Butcher was his name. We would go behind cell bars and unleash arrows on him for like 30 minutes until he finally died. All while we were shouting our lungs out hoping we wouldn't die. *sigh* goodtimes..

It was all new back then. Diablo is like the Beatles, they were the start of it all. As the years went by record companies and producers realized how much money they could make and it was no longer about expression and art. Its about selling a product. You can still find the real music, and you can still find the real games. But its few and far between nowadays.

Yeah part one was ported to the Playstation 1. It's pretty underrated. It didn't get the attention on console that it deserved.

If done properly with todays technology, and able to make D3 as balanced and deep as D1. I wouldn't be above listening to tristram in Diablo 3. I fear however the generation that enjoyed D1 as it were had limited exposure to too many other games of the time, and were not numbed to the shock and awe value of the adventure mixed with a unique music score and a creative and new way to game. Thanks for the memories, but now that i too am numb i have no great expectation of the future of gaming.

Oh yeah! I have not played Diablo in years, so I've forgotten what Pipin, Griswold, etc. all say. I do remember Diablo II moreso, and hopefully once I upgrade my computer I can play Diablo III, though I've heard mixed reviews of D3.

@Acidburn24 you sir have no idea what you are talking about. Blizzard very well knows which direction they have to go with D3 and they are perfectly aware of the fact that it is a horror-action-rpg. The demo from one of the blizzcons already has shown it. Also if you compare the newest screenshots with older ones, you'll see that the graphics are more grittier and that they built in the light radius afterall.
