Diablo 2 - Singleplayer Sorceress Torch Farming!

MrLlamaSC's Holy Grail Sorceress is a Diablo 2 LOD Singleplayer Sorceress whose goal is to collect every Unique and Set item in the game. He has been on this journey for almost a year now and is starting to work down to a very narrowed list. The primary skill for this run has been Blizzard but every now and then he respecs to something else.
He is currently using PLUGY mod which allows for the large stash + ladder items and events (such as dclone and ubers). Everything on this character is solo self found.

Is this specific to single player? I remember the encounter being a lot more difficult as I thought they spawned mobs as well. I never tried it on anything other than a smiter with twinked out gear.

If you put Kelpie Snare on your merc, the bosses can't do anything, if you don't need the Infinity, which is just damage, Kelpie means you can take your time a bit because it's the tankiest weapon you can have on your merc for boss fights.

FIRE SORC. I farm nihlathak with a chanter but i use firewall. My Sorc is poor too, but the trick is firewall doesn't have pathing, so it usually kills him before leaving a bunch of corpses for him to CE. Meteor works too but I got bored with it. get into his room and tele around. His minions are always cold enchanted and he is rarely fire enchanted, if he is: make ng and gogo. You don't need infinity to fast farm nihlathak. You need some basic fcr and resistance gear on a meteor or fire wall sorc and you need to stay a moving target in his chamber. Also it doesnt hurt to know how the map is generated.

Technically you can try doing the torch, don't save or overwrite a pre-ubers save file and try over again, is that right?

ladder uber tristram is much different from this. enemies spawning everywhere, and the bosses heal really fast

Boss heal speed is the same here. The major difference is the lack of minions spawning when you're near mephisto because that is done serverside and so in single player it doesn't happen

Bosses definitely heal faster in ladder uber tristram. With Ubers the way you have it I could beat it with my tri sorc caster hell i cam close to doing it in ladder uber trist but it was with godly gear.

@Daniel Bunting I was able to kill them with an Online Sorceress a few times. Key things you want are: Meteor + Fireball Spec, Infinity or Lower Resist Wand, and Marrowwalk boots. Monsters can’t heal if they’re constantly being damaged, so keep spamming Meteor, while you keep them still with the Bone Prison charges on Marrowwalk.

Javazon for Nith, boom, room is toast, safer if you have Nature's Peace or something, but not super needed, also a wave of arrows zon, no danger, just a few shots, walk in, grab loots but I only do these runs on p8 enchanted and boed (I play 8 accounts on realm).

Last I remember playing Diablo 2 (around 2008) you couldnt make certain Runewords like Enigma and Fortitude etc. on single player mode, you had to go on Battle.net Ladder multiplayer mode in order to acquire most of the GG people are used to. I didnt even know Single Player had Ubers and torches

Still in normal single player you cannot make lot of runeword, he's playing a modded single player that allow you to play with some ladder content and infinity storage. The mod is called D2SE, if you ever get back to this game get this mod for single player, so much more enjoyable for solo. I think the only thing missing is trash mob spawning in uber fight.

I believe you may need to move the game folder out of your C: drive or wherever and instead put it in your Games directory or somewhere else. It's a permissions issue you're getting where it is trying to write a file to the save folder in there now but it doesn't have permissions. Running it as admin may also solve this issue. Not 100% sure but something around there!

By chance does your account you use to login with not have admin access? Example being you are unable to install an application (and get a credential prompt when you try). Which case Llama is correct relating to permissions. Get admin (or run as admin and type in admin credentials) - or move the folder away from Program Files.

What’s the difference between single player and online? Can you still farm efficiently on single player?

SP is by yourself, so no trades or anything. Your maps remain static there, some runewords don't work, etc. This mod I'm playing brings in some of those things though (like allowing all ladder runewords, torch, anni, etc)

About 15,000 runs of lower kurast would get you the Bers and then cube 2 for Jah. I just made my Enigma from LK with a Jah drop in ancient tunnels. Back to lower kurast for an infinity.

I guess it is PlugY mod - it unlocks everything available in game even offline - like additional rune words, unlimited chest, uber quests etc. But it keeps all the mechanics unchanged - damage, monsters, skills, drop probability...

I'm at 20 torchs on single player... none of them rolled amazon nor Necro, even if I don't really mind for my necro it pisses me off that I can't find it for my amazon. I think I got like 6 for my assasin which I don't care that much. That RNG is tough sometimes, at least I get a good one for my Sorc, like a 18/19 I believe.

As an old diablo player, the video shows me that limiting respec to 3 times per quest is definitely sufficient. Infinite respec as a mod makes possible makes you no longer think about your own build.
