Diablo 3 is single-handedly the most cheated video game on consoles. so many lazy pieces of shit play those games and then make rationalization is for why they do it. This is a cool glitch, the cheating in this game ruined it.

Sounds like you’re in season mode. Only works on non-seasonal characters.

I believe pro controllers can be used for this. The method must involve removing and re-attaching the joy-cons. Just be careful that you don't want to accidentally trigger the registration of the pro controllers when the joy cons are attached to the console. As for switch lite, it should work because like a regular switch that is not docked, the switch lite only operates as a hand held console so there should not be any issue with these two.

The switch lites joycons dont detach, im gonna see if connecting the pro controller counts as detaching them. Ill experiment with some worthless gear and see how it goes

It's in the description, but I failed to include that in the presentation. Transfer gold from P1 to P2, have P2 exit so that it saves on quit, have P2 rejoin and transfer gold back to P1 but do not exit the inventory menu with P2, put joy-cons back in to the console that has to be in handheld mode, this forces the console to be single player only so P2 exits without saving, take joy-cons out and have P2 join back in, all of the gold that is in P1 should be the same in P2 because P2 did not save while leaving. This method is the exponential cloning of gold in the game

Doesn't work anymore. At least it doesn't on my switch. When you reattach the controllers on the item screen for p2 it gets stuck on the item screen for p2 and doesn't ever recognize that the character isn't in the game anymore. In order to fix this, you have to detach the controllers again to control as p2. Also confirmed this does not work for Seasons. Every item dropped in seasons is immediately and automatically bound to a player a la round robin, and it doesn't matter who picks it up, it will appear in the correct player's inventory. So when you drop an item by yourself it shows the item's name above it, then when you add a second character to the game the item's name takes the prefix "P1:" to indicate that only Player 1 can receive it.

I had the same issue but for the hell of it, hit the Switch home button then went back into the game. Upon removing and re-inserting the left joycon, it worked. From there on it usually keeps working. When it doesn't, a simple "Home" + left joycon detach works. 5 months later you might not care anymore. Leaving this mostly for other folks. EDIT: "Home" isn't needed. Just de/re-attach the left joycon if it gets stuck in the menu.
