Diablo 3 + Reaper of Souls Ambience Music (mixed by Douglas Howarth)

This one might come a little unexpected. :)
Just right after the game release, Diablo 3 music received a lot of negative feedback - for being dull, too ambient, without memorable form, but mostly - for not even trying to surpass the "legendary Matt Uelmen Diablo 2 masterpieces" we've listnened to for all those years.
The thing people tend to forget is, Diablo 3 was designed with much more replayability (and grind) in mind, and everything you hear in game can't possibly make you angry, bored, or anxious for the 1000th time you do your runs. This is why this certain approach was chosen - they blended music into background as much as they could, and composed it so you only hear specific harmonics and themes from time to time, to set the tone for your sloughtery journey.
This is the reason whole game has this feeling as if the music doesn't change much. And in a way you are right - all of the cues in different acts are mostly the same type of composition, with differences varying from place to place.
But there are pearls in all of this, which give Diablo 3 an amazing audio-sensory and musical character afterall. :)
This particular mix is in a way different than the others, mainly because it sets off with darker, more mysterious tones. It eventually shifts into calming resolution, thanks to the Sescheron amazing addition to the game's score. I highly recommend you give it a shot if you haven't already.

I never got to experience D1 or D2 so i can't compare, but D3 has been one of the most fun games I've ever played. Sure I take long breaks but I always come back and have just as much fun as I did launch day. The music is also pretty damn good!

D2 still is easy to acquire and pretty fun to play, even though it's slower than D3 and requires some planning when it comes to leveling up. I'd recommend you give it a try. ;)

Hyped for diablo 4 since I don't have diablo 3 ROS edition so I don't have act 5 etc. I played Diablo 2 special edition until my laptop broke. So I'm so unlucky huh. I loved necromancy in diablo 2, I hope there is a necromancer class in diablo 4 (i have ps3 version diablo 3).

I played D3 to start off with, then I got into D2 through Resurrected. I've always loved Diablo 3's soundtrack, ever since first hearing it. I can hardly think of a soundtrack that fits a game so well. It's immersive and it sends a shiver down my spine. Having said that, I really like Diablo 2's soundtrack as well, but it can get repetitive after all while. It's still amazing, and I found myself searching some of it on KZbin after first hearing it, but it does still get a little tedious if you've been playing for long stretches.

BOUGHT DIABLO 1 IN 1998, DIABLO 2 IN 2000. ITS NOW 2018. and im playing diablo 2 to this day. i also love D3 very dearly the two games cannot be compared. diablo 3 is a masterpiece and the fact us east battle net is still up for D2 speaks for itself on how well done that game is. 18 years later and i still prefer it over any first person shooter, overwatch came close ide say for a little bit but after i hit diamond and realized ill never hit master i quit shortly after. DIABLO = NO TEAM NO PROBLEM

+johnnyxp64 I would recommend taking screenshot when in fullscreen mode. The image is 1920x1080, just make sure you switch to Full HD. :) (can't sent you the image itself in this form because of video post production, my input graphic was quite different)

I checked my files (fortunatelly there are still on archive disc) and these are the two tracks I used (I persume those are original filenames): X1_Music_Act5_NaveRehnt1, X1_Music_Act5_NaveRehnt2. Cheers!
