One correction: it's true that Rend only calculates damage off of the main hand, but we are using WHIRLWIND to proc rend, which oscillates between the weapons. For that reason we need to take the +10% damage roll on the offhand. I have updated the D3planner link!

As a side note to area damage. I have also noticed a lag spike while using in large groups. I don't think d3 like to do the math on area dmg.

My regular whirlwind barb has been running T16 rifts on a regular basis under 5 minutes a rift. But, this new build with S19 upgrades looks even better and funner. Thx for all you hard work Raxx, your videos brought me back to the game …. stopped during original release and just came back shortly before S18. Now, except for the Necro I have a build for each class that can do T16 rifts. Neco is up to T13 with ease now, though :)

i've been running a few tests of my own and even without having optimized rolls on my gear, there is so much CDR on this build that i deceided to change things up for my style a bit, i removed Echoing Fury altogether, Cubed Ambo's Pride and equipped the bul-kathos blade set, doing so not only gave me instant full fury but maintained the speed boost i gave up from Echoing Fury. it seems to work just as well as your setup Rax, just a little bit differently in that i dont have to try and pump up fury at the start of the rift i can spam all i abilities instantly and jump right into the fray

Fruther testing has shown that you actually shouldn't: Casted Rend is only from main hand, but Rend from Ambo's actually alternates weapons because WW alternates weapons, and it takes its damage modifiers from the current WW tick.

As a barb player I couldn't be happier that Barb is back in vogue in S19. Question to you, will you also do a video around the new Remorseless effect that affects HoTA damage output? I tried it and it really beefed up my HoTA barb. I went from being able to do 89 GR (Hardcore) to 95 GR. I wonder what your thoughts are on the subject. Cheers for the great video!

Love this build. Even without augments I am slaying T16. One change I made was to swap obsideon for Rachel's Ring of larceny. Get an additional 60% move spd when fearing an enemy. Flies through the rifts.

Yeah, WW is absolutely rocks! I tried on PTR too. Extremly strong. Very paragon sensitive at push. And this is the only chalange.... that is what my problem with WW. Beside this I hope it won't be nerfed, nice to have this build. But it would make me more happy if other builds would get the buffs too....

why not use F&R + hellfire amulet ? Wouldn't that be more damage (125% vs 100% of squirt) + a damaging gem instead of that shield one in the ring +an added passive for even more damage and that way you don't have to worry about the squirt dropping off at any point

Krasimir Donkov without band of might and obzod the quality of life goes down significantly. Beyond taeguk and trapped (which you can already take in this build), there aren’t any great damaging gems to take beyond that. For T16 our damage is good where it is.

One suggestion, if you're already using Avarice why not use Boon of the Hoarder instead of Wreath? Boon gives 30% for 3 seconds vs. Wreath giving 25% for 3 seconds. Plus it enhances your efficiency by ensuring that you're always max stacks. It's also possible that Wreath won't always proc when you're literally one shotting packs. No need for the Goldwrap obviously, but I do this on my DH and I haven't had to waste time doing a vault in AGES. I think it's better for this scenario personally, specifically the regular rifts of course.

Definitely could, you can also just drop taeguk and wear both, but I wanted this guide to be good for beginners who won't have godly damage so honestly the best would be trapped + taeguk until the gear comes along

Sunwuko Wave of Light will be godly next season. It's already godly now, and it's getting a 30% buff from getting the 3 extra stacks of sweeping wind. If you wanna stay monk that's 100% the build I'd play. I have a guide on my channel if you wanna check it out. It's the best speed build in the game and its only getting stronger

I'm always surprised at why people recommend the BK blades. It's true they are very good for beginners, but they aren't great weapons. They give you fury generation (not needed b/c of the wind shear rune), they give you movement speed (which is great, but you can get half of it from echoing fury and wear ambos to cube messerschmidts, and messerschmidts is 5 million times better then 20% movement speed), and the attack speed is worthless. Why in the world would anyone use the BK weapons? baffling to me

I prefer to play with Ancients and together as one and battle cray with swords to ploughshares and with bul-khato's set+Captain's crimson's set and i have 60% cd reduction. But i play HC mode and i use to play with ignor pain but is better with the ancients because keeps the mobs bussy takes some agro away. And ground stomp with Wreching smesh to stun and pull the elite and trash. For the rings i use obsidian ring because gives recorces reduction 8% crit and atack speed and i get from bonus set dmg reduction also ,ring of royal grandeur and in cube i use the band of might ring,lementation, Ambo's pride.

Just discovered a bug with Innas and Molten Gizzard. Gizzard shield only scales off of its own life per second and your paragon. With 180k life per second, my shield was only 160k. It should be 360k.

Hi Rax. Thanks again for your videos, they really help. After watching you play Barbarian, finally, I started to play it in season 20. It is my first time playing with a strength-based character since D1. The issue is, I am stuck at 118 with whirlwind rend, my paragon is approximately 1030, three caldesans at 100. However, at playstation using ancient spear is really hard so I changed it to war cry veteran's warning. I saw the players who finished upper gr's play with focus/restraint changing IB % damage to area damage. When I tried it it was an epic failure with hard cast rend :) Killing trash is not that hard when I gather them but elites take a lot of time, without ancient spear it is also really hard to drag elites. Unfortunately, I play solo. So help me please :) Do I need to increase my paragon? Is increasing area damage and using focus&restraint the only way? Thanks again, I really liked playing Barbarian by the way.

Hello my friend. First of all, GR118 solo already is pretty damn high. Paragon levels make a huge difference, along with stacking area damage to manually rend. To get the highest clears, its a tactic you'll have to master

good guide man ! Just a quick question : i didn't understand the part about crit. You say that rend can't crit but it's still important to take... Can you clarify it a bit more, i can't figure out why crit is still important.

Sure. Your crit hit damage and crit hit chance together give rend a multiplier which makes it deal increased damage. The skill itself can't crit, but stacking those 2 stats raise the multiplier which raises your damage. It's pretty looney tunes, same way that it only calculates damage off of the main hand, but that's how it works

Ok, so you have zodiac and Messerschmidt's. And you are stacking CD with those two items? What if you did a ring of royal grandeur, removed the belt and pants you have, put captain crimsons instead and keep the messerschmidt's? that way stacking CD becomes a lot stronger and you will probably have more DPS / survival. I would also probably toss squirts, and avarice. Put obsidian in for avarice and your choice for amulet. For greater GR pushing I would replace Obsidian with unity. As for weapons, an option would be to slot Ambo's Pride and use the highest damage role two handed you have to maximize rend damage. Just my two cents

Hi cross, the mechanic still applies. Area damage only works when you manually apply rend, and not when it’s applied with ambos pride. You need to manually rend with AD for a high solo barn clear, but not at all in speed farming :)

Sure, the BK weapons are going to give you more resource generation (not needed) and more movement speed. This version is going to give you more damage and more cooldown. In my opinion, this set up is much better :)

Good question Robert, I don't know exactly, but I can tell you its not much. For example we don't have the equipment slots in this build to take skull grasp for the 400% WW damage, and it would hurt to take the WW % skill rolls as well.

Squirts is very hard to keep up unless you have a support giving you a shield. I'd go with flavor or some other ammy if you don't have a monk shielding you

Hi Sean, when I hold down whirlwind I spin, but if I release it I don't spin. I've never seen it continue spinning if I'm understanding your question correctly. Have you tried whirlwinding on both the mouse and keyboard buttons? that might help

You can find primal ancients at any GR or torment level, all you have to do first is clear a GR70 solo. Once you’ve done that, you unlock primal ancients to drop anywhere

For the MH weapon, any consideration to Doombringer? Doesn't give the frenzy bonus and slower attacks, but rolls physical damage.

Yes, doombringer is another great option instead of echoing fury, but echoing gives you increased movement speed which is nice for speed runs

Might be good for a GR push build, although out of all the vids I’ve seen so far no one has used F+R.. I don’t think it’s ideal to lose the CDR from Obsidian ring of the Zodiac because you want full uptime on Wrath of the Beserker, but this being a speed farm build you really just don’t need any extra damage. T16 becomes a walk in the park in no time so most aspects of a T16 speed/key farming build rely on movement speed and clearing the rift as fast as possible over additional damage because you should be just obliterating everything anyway. I think T16 = GR 75, and once you’re fully geared up even with suboptimal rolls thats like almost no resistance, you just blitz through the rift

Crit dmg and Crit Chance give you a multiplier, which Rend uses to buff its dmg. Echoing fury stack give you attackspeed AND movement speed.

Rend uses the average damage, meaning that you will ALWAYS deal the same amount of damage with rend. Unlike most attacks that has a range of for example 50 to 100 damage (plus a chance to crit). You gain movement speed from echoing fury, because it can fear and you can use a ring that gives movement speed for feared enemies. Doesn't look like he is using it here tho

Rend is if you need the rune to be activated from whirlwind (higher level content). Since we already obliterate everything, we don't need it for speed farming T16
