Hey man. With the fix to the Patterns of Justice, is SWK still better for tempest rush?

Lexyu was running this build on stream a few days ago and it seems attack speed does affect the flurry explosion. (He was pissed because he had just released his guide, telling people not to use AS). Someone in his stream posted a video testing that dmg increases with AS and I also tested it myself. According to d3planner it is a straight up dmg multiplier.

@@Raxxanterax In the video you have said that the explosion is guaranteed to crit. Isn't then a waste to get crit chance? Stack just the crit damage and blow up everything with big crits. Only way I don't see it is if the explosion damage for some reason was calculated from average damage meaning damage x crit chance x crit dmg

@@Raxxanterax Yea it is hard to fit in attack speed anyways. I've been running it with Seize the Initiative, but that's about all you want to get. Hexing pants are proving very useful.

Hi Rax. A bit late to be posting this in May 2020, but this guide has been very helpful. Almost every other guide on KZbin recommends using Mantle of Channelling + Sunwuko Shiny variant instead of Flavor of Time (other than Lexyu) Must say it works out rather great! Managed to clear GR 126 (P2360) today non-season on NA server after 5 weeks of playing my monk and not so super gear

Hey ! You don't need to put cyclone strike in your spell bar for it to be cast by the Won Khim Lau ! It will still be cast with no rune and you can use something else. I tend to put Serenity with the ascension rune to be safe just before the cold bonus on the CoE.

We put it on our bars so the won kim lau casts the soothing breeze rune which gives us massive heals

I confirmed that the effect on Cesar's Memento works without having the skill on the bar, so I branched out and tried Dashing Strike and Spirit Ally. Both seem preferable to the variant with Cyclone Strike, is there something I'm missing that tips the scales?

I prefer my PoJ build with Echoing Fury - no need to build more than 3 stacks of Sweeping & no problems with attack speed/spirit :) Sure, it prob does less damage, but even GR100 trash mobs just melt as they get sucked in from all over the screen! If I want a speed build for T16s I switch to Sage+VW & get +65% speed wirh the 13 stacks. And I've tried Sunwuko+PoJ 6+2 as well as In-Geom, wielding Balance, etc. PoJ is just nicer as you get 50% dmg mit off the bat + the 15K dmg to all skills as well. :) I also love using Kyoshiro's Soul for lower Sunwujo content as you kick off with Max stacks & never lose them, but that's just me.

So I started this build yesterday, and I am starving for spirit all the time. I keep epiphy or however you spell it up 100% of the time, I don't cast cyclone strike, I have rerolled pretty much all of my CDR to RCR in both of my weapons and my COE and even on my shoulders. i have the RCR Gem in helm. the only difference between my build and your build is I wear the LS shoulders and cube mantle of channeling and i'm using Sunwuko's necklace instead of Flavor of time. After watching your video, you barely ever left 100% spirit and you have WAY less RCR than I do on my gear. I know I'm doing something wrong, I just can't figure out what it is.

If you keep epiphany and sweeping wind up all the time, then you'd want to focus on RCR as you said. The only thing that I didn't hear you mention was making sure you had no attack speed. Do you have 0 attack speed everywhere, including removing it from your paragons? If all of that is true and you still cannot figure it out, stop by my stream tomorrow and say "hey raxx it's the guy from YT can't solve spirit problem", we'll look at your character together and solve the problem.

Hey marshy, here are a few tips: 1. Get enough cool down to always keep epiphany you. 2. Get as much resource cost reduction as possible. 3. Take all attack speed off of your gear, including in paragon points

Enjoyed the video, it has helped me have much success so far this season. I have a question about the timing of blinding flash. I release my stacks of flurry by hitting blinding flash with my left mouse button, which has the effect of stopping my tempest rush and exploding my stacks of flurry. Does that produce the same effect as hitting blinding flash first, then stopping the tempest rush? I wasn't sure if there needed to be a slight delay between blinding flash and releasing my stacks. My method seems to work just fine as I have done up to 124 GR (a personal best for me).

To be honest, I've never tried that, but I would err on the side of caution and blind right before you let go of TR. But it should be quite obvious if it works or not as there should be a significant damage difference between the two

I have blinding light on the 1 key because it seems to work much better there than on the mouse. I have cyclone strike on my left mouse key, but never intentionally click on it unless I'm opening something. I find that Tempest Rush works best on my right mouse button.

Hi Raxx, Love your videos and they have helped my game play so much. Though I play on PS4.I was wondering why you wouldn't use Kyoshiro's Soul for a belt? I find it keeps your stacks of sweeping wind maxed out and you never need to refresh it. Also, like someone else commented, Hexing pants fit nice too especially if you swap out Captains belt for the Kyoshiro's Soul belt.

The sweeping wind stacks are almost always up anyway, no harm to refresh it on the rare case that there are no monsters at the end of a floor :). Hexing pants are great, but I think captains is significantly more damage and damage reduction :)

What about the Patterns of Justice? Now that the tempest rush will be unbugged with the future patch, It has high sweeping wind and ciclone dmg, higher speed, radius and spirit generation, just has a little lower tempest dmg, wouldn't It be better?

Yes, technically it could. We really don't ever want random CCs on anything in D3. We only want CC when we mean to cast it :)

I am also curious if there is a TR build that could be based on run speed, not stacks, that will be decent for bounties, but I am guessing WoL is still much better for a monk. I think its a bit better for solo because it allows you to clump up everything right on your cold cycle. Yes zmonks are still top tier supports for Season 19, especially with the fix to squirts necklace

True, which is why we try to gather them up and then trigger the bomb right after we blind, so if the blind is on DR, it still hits them before they get out of it

I still don't understand why this build works, because according to the CC resistance mechanic it should not work. Important facts about CC from Wiki (diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Crowd_Control ): 1. Each successful Knockback or Pull adds flat 40% Hard CC resistance to a mob; 2. Hard Crowd Control effects (like Blind) have a threshold limit: when a monster’s resistance increases to the point that it lowers Hard CC duration below a specific threshold (0.65 seconds for normal monsters, Champions and minions and 0.85 seconds for Rares and Bosses), Hard CC will no longer have any effect on them. So, Since Won Khim Lau triggers knockback each second, mobs reach CC resistance cap of 95% very fast. Blinding Flash duration is 3 seconds, 95% CC res lowers it to 0.15 seconds which is far lower than a required threshold (0.65 or 0.85 seconds). Thus, Blind should not be applied and as a result, Cesar's Memento bonus should not work. But how it works?

Epiphany and Sweeping wind rune together with resource cost reduction. You technically don't need Cyclone Strike I've seen builds doing fine without it but if you do you get the healing effect of the soothing breeze rune for every hit of tempest rush. That's really useful and also heals allies.

I just tried this build on now patch 2.6.9. From the video, ur Spirit almost full thorough the gr, when I first play this build, my resource always drop almost half and out of spirit on some time. How do u maintain the spirit ?

No, if you need more than one lot of life on hit roll it on bracers. That way you can use a more useful modifier on the other weapon. 10% damage, area damage, CDR, or RCR.

@@wiktorwojsznis741 I don't think you can check the PTR records without downloading it. Checking the forums would probably be your best option. Checking the PTR Monk leaderboard would not tell you anything though, as the TR builds didn't exist yet. PoJ has multiple top 10 clears as well, but it is a bit weaker.

It is only a guaranteed crit if there are 3 or fewer enemies, great for rift guardian not so much for clearing the actual rift

If you put it on your bar, it auto casts the rune attached to it. So we put it on our bars with soothing breeze for the heal, but don't actually cast it

I'm having a difficulty surviving with this build. I have every item set with all stats rolls except area damage (only 2 items are ancient legendary). Also augmented topaz in my helm and can't survive gr65 with it. And my paragon lvl is 1000. Im to squishy. Dmg is fine tho. Any toughts? Thx

You can put on a unity and give one to your follower with a cannot die relic to cut your damage in half. Also putting resource cost reduction on your gear will help give you survivability with captain crimsons. You can also put some paragon points into vit. Try that

Hey, i really like this build but ... I run out of spirit in like 3 seconds. Epiphany always up, 60 % cdr, 29 % cost reduction , everything just like in the video.. why is that ? please help

Raxxanterax thanks for answering so fast. No everything is exactly The same. I tried putting resource cost reduction gem and rerolled some stats to get to 49% reduction and it started being kinda okay but dmg was insanely lower , could barely finish gr 98

@@MrSzamanon I had this issue too, but I ended up just putting on Chant of Resonance, which allowed me to not worry about it at all, and let me take more damage on my gear.

If you have epiphany numlocked it wont keep up with your spirit. Try manually using it.

Do you have enough CDR to keep your epiphany up all the time? Do you have a lot of RCR? Do you have 0 attack speed including 0 in your paragon points?

I was having the same problem: i dropped all attack speed from paragons, finally got zodiac equipped, and swapped exalted soul for momentum until i can get all the cdr and rcr i need. that has helped a lot.

Raxxanterax I’m wondering if it’s because I have blind on left click and TR on right on mouse. Will swap around but heard there are a few bugs with POJ that cause it to drop stacks. Not had a huge amount of time to run GR’s but Same build with POJ works well. Toying with mantle of channelling in place of soliloquy atm. Tried just dropping in the SWK I had after watching this and just can’t sustain stam. More work required to get around that

@@Raxxanterax pumping ephphinay helps a little and yes attack speed is good. just seems to drain a little too easy. I've found that casting sweeping wind helps a lot...frustrating to say the least

Been playing the default season set Tempest Rush and it's fine to GR100. Two questions when i switch to this Sunwoko build: 1) how does this Sunwuko build maintain spirit as shown? Mine runs down quickly; can't maintain it and just "run" as shown without running out. 2) With all primals and 150 augments on everything, and 4500 paragon, how does this help me with my little P1000 and all ancients build with no primals and no augments?

1. with epiphany up, and the swk stacks, and a bit of RCR, your spirit will never go down. 2. play the build with whatever you have. if you're paragon 1000 with ancients and no augments, you can still clear GR130 with it. but if you're paragon 1000 you should have already made several augment gems after your first 3 were leveled up
