If your have done the capstone for torment but are not ready for torment helltides. You can collect your cinders on nightmare find the mystery chest leave game load up in torment and open the chest real fast. Go back to nightmare farm and find the next chest....i did this for 1 day and got about 50% of my ancestral gear which helped me stay in torment.

You forgot a big tip. On the ground we have various cache items all over the world and they usually contain items/gold/potions. Well if you see one with a RED glow around it in Helltide, it means that the cache contains cinders! So always loot the ones that glow red in helltide, you may get 2-3 or sometimes 6 cinders. Also, they do drop the "Forgotten Souls" and "Fiend Rose" but it is rare.

It's worth mentioning that Fiend Rose also spawns as a harvestable only during Helltide. You actually rode past about 3 of them in the video. So not only does it drop from chests and monsters, but also you can get it straight from the vine.

Pro tip: find a dungeon or cellar outside an event, do the event go into the dungeon and wait 5 seconds, zone back out and you will be back at a world zone where the event is instantly back up. You can also do this with towns with events right outside. Good luck farming peeps

Another tip. Some events can be farmed for TONS of cinders if you don't rush to complete them. Monsters will keep running at you the entire time. Just keep killing until about 15 sec left in the event, then complete as usual.

So how it works is , there’s multiple potential spots for mysterious chests . There’s officially 2 per helltide , 1 in each helltide zone . HOWEVER, mysterious chests reset their spawn locations at every hour . So if the event starts at 2:30 pm , you can spend 30 minutes getting 350 cinders and open the 2 helltide chests , but then the chests respawn at 3 pm and you’ll have another 2 spawn . It IS possible to unlock 4 mysterious chests in 1 helltide event. It’s easier when the events start at the half hour .

Helltide on west coast of kehjustan has 3 mystery chests and usually you get lucky with a chest reset in the middle of it so you can get 6 mystery chests in 1 helltide.

I found out about the mystery chest a couple of days ago, I am only level 63 so far and I can clear enough to open at least 2 mystery chest per helltide, You also get a lot of materials just gathering veins etc, the glowing stuff normally drops stuff.

Using your guide, its even better now in 1.1.1. Mob density/cinders allowed me to open 3 mystery chests and my inventory is filled with probabilities of those high rolling thiol-it aspects. Missing in this guide as noted below...Do NOT forsake chests or red glowing pustules, sometimes they drop more cinders than a 50 mob group. Refreshing this post because this guy is awesome :P

Secret tip for farming cinders: If you find 2+ shamans in a spot, dont kill them; they will continously spawn adds that drop cinders. You can farm cinders fast in one spot, and the more shamans the better ... well, at least until a clueless yoyo comes and kills the shamans.

Small added tip is that Helltides and whisper gift mission can spawn in the same zones, so should definitely head there when that doubles up. Also I don’t recommend fighting the helltide assassin if you are lower level an alone. It will take 10 minutes and the drop isn’t worth that kind of time.

The best way to complete the helltides mystery chests is definitely to go to the side that has four events and just keep riding between them. Don’t wait for them to spawn, just keep moving between the four only stopping for elites on the way for xp. Collect 350 cinders, open up two chests, then start collecting for the other two asap.

No one is collecting 175 cinders in under 5 min, maybe 8, but not 5. At least not solo. Maybe in a group, but solo you’re dreaming. My best is 22 per min playing twist rogue solo. Events are a huge part of obtaining cinders AND xp, although it’s actually worth clearing all the mobs in between them instead of skipping them like said previously. You’re almost always clearing them with other people which is a huge xp boost on top of the already added xp. Also it’s worth looking for red highlighted tortured souls that drop cinders. Helltides rotate every hour and fifteen minutes, chest spawns always move at the top of the hour. That means if the helltide starts at the top of the hour, there will be no respawn. Most have two zones with one chest per zone, meaning four possible chests to open, while some have three zones for a total of six to open. Clearing as many events as you can, killing all the mobs in between, and opening up everything that drop cinders is definitely the way.

I've seen KZbin videos of people showing that you can go to an event in the Helltide, complete the event, teleport to town, teleport right back and the event will be up again because teleporting changes the 'instance' that you're in. I haven't tested this myself though so do what you want with that info.

I love Helltides 😍 I love playing Minion Necromancer but switched because I can't get past 1 single Fire Elite in a 21 Nightmare dungeon Yesterday I accompanied someone to a Legion event and he had a 32 ND open (that would be my highest so far), I was looking for my best gear and upgrading my rings (I forgot I could do this up to lvl 68 :D) and I tried it with LV 72 and in the end I succeeded and got a unique ring as a reward. I hoped Mendeln so i would play my minions again, but it was mother's embrace Then I tried 1 Helltide the game crashed 2 times and 1 connection error (PS5) but I continued with events where I got enough for 3 175 chests (one at a time too dangerous with so many crashes) i was able to just open 2, time ran out... But when I wanted to sell the rest betweenthe 2 chests, I found it and had no idea where Mendeln's Ring :D and later Razorblade :D I checked it out later (thanks, PS5 replay) and found the two in the event chests at Helltide Now I will play minoins again 🥰

2 days ago when I farmed hell tides I struggled on nightmare level 4. I saw a video that said farm on nightmare level 3 go back to kyovichad after you get all your cinders and after you find the mystery chest and change to hell tide 4. Then go back and use the senders for the chests. I actually died doing this the first time and lost half of my cinders. I believe I went back to kyovashad changed it back to hell tide 3 and farmed again. At that time I also did not know where the mystery chest was and I found it while in hell tide 3 but not open it until I went back in helltide 4.

Helltide is my fav thing to do atm, but currently I can only hold 710 obols and I max those out from 0 every time. There's another site that has a timer that counts down until the chests reset, I started using the site you use because it's cleaner and doesn't have huge ads that randomly play audio. Lol. One thing I also like to do during helltide is every cellar I see, I've had 2 that had 3x treasure trolls in them, and about 5 of them dropped uniques from the mobs inside, and I've yet to find a single unique elsewhere in helltide.

Kejistan has 3 chests of mystery per the hour, for a total of 6 possible mystery chests during some helltides Scoglen used to when this vid came out but I think they changed it to 2 last patch, as I've only found 2/4 there lately.. but Kejistan definitely still has 3 and is now the only one that does. I much prefer the helltide that starts halfway through the hour, so you have 30 minutes per set of 2 chests, or 3 in Kejistan, I nearly always get all 6 in Kejistan when its the half hour/half hour timer. But that's probably a preference thing. Personally I wouldn't even count the resources as a secret, let alone a dirty secret. your resource tab tells you where to grind them, for example, and its mentioned one other place as well but I cant remember right now.. But you also forgot to mention the actual dirty secret that I imagine will be patched when blizzard is made aware... farm helltide in world T3 and turn them in in world T4, for a gigantic power boost if you are still 50s-60s, but this does require having T4 opened.. Im not sure how low level a solo can easily do it now post patch, you could try to find someone in town to do it for you as well Edit: Also if you do take advantage of this method, many of the drops from T4 will be too high level for you to use for awhile, my friend found that out after we rushed his campaign lol

MYSTERY CHEST: Not sure if he mentioned in the video, but I've noticed that the Mystery chest moves during Helltide. I've come across mystery chests multiple times, fighting around it, and I would put a pin on it just to come back when I had enough cinders. But only for it to be gone. And I've noticed that it happens after 30min of Helltide. SO I think after half of the Helltide time has been active, the Mystery chest moves locations.

You can do them _before_ you finish your campaign. You won't get any event info on the map or whatever, so you have to look up on the website where/when they are and hunt down the area.

I'm level 50 and still haven't finished the campaign (too much youtube, not enough gaming). No alerts, no indicators for location, but if you're there you can do it.

You get way more cinders with more people on screen than alone. When in a party you can get cinders of mobs killed offscreen by party members too. But just stick together otherwise so you aren't wasting cinders during events. The goal isn't to finish events quickly but to get cinders quickly. You can cycle 2 close events. The game keeps putting you in new instances when you cross the borders of regions and some will have the event active. Also probably why I get lag spikes 😤

the craziest thing i dropped in a helltide was my 65 necro who got ripped to shreds while i was in the loading screen entering the zone via portal... i heard him dying and the first thing i saw after the loading screen was my Ghost defending my Gravestone....

Sounds like you found the secret “Original Diablo Experience” Easter egg. 😂 Back then we’d get into the habit of playing solo as a multiplayer game. That way if you hit the “portal load boss” you could phone a friend to dial in to your machine and help out.

I’ve gotten a couple good upgrades from the mystery chest but still looking for the ice boots, temerity, and ancestral unique helmet. I have the sacred unique helmet just need the ancestral version. Lvl 72 necro

Not sure if anyone already pointed this out in the comments, but if you dismantle an upgraded item you get a refund of the materials for the upgrade cost (rather then selling it and letting them go to waste). 👍
