Here's the irony: Inarius had deluded himself into thinking that he might somehow be able to return to the High Heavens if he killed Lilith, and humanity too if need be, but that was always a lie he told himself. This is the same High Heavens that gave him to Mephisto to be tortured for millennia, and even when all of the seven Evils were vanquished, never once attempted to rescue him. The High Heavens had written him off a long time ago, and nothing would ever change that.

In this case the lie that Inarius told himself ov'a and ov'a until he believed in his own (prophetic) lie. At any rate. I had a feeling Inaruis was going to get bested by Lilith as soon as she lured him into the caverns away from the battle field...basically bringing Inarius to her fighting element style...the element of stealth and surprise vs an all out open fight/hand to hand in a wide open battlefield. Nevertheless this scenario outcome is yet another diablo game depicting angels as acting like idiotic buffoons that are either easily bested and or corrupted by demonic forces.

@@dimaflorida9889 I feel the fight was less about bringing him to her kind of battlefield, and more about bringing him where she'd have his full attention. Because Lilith's specialty isn't stealth and surprise, it's psychological manipulation and corruption, something that only requires that the target listens to what you're saying. Inarius, whether he realized it or not, was already thoroughly corrupt, although that was from his own delusions than anything Lilith did. All Lilith had to do was lance that particular psychological boil to make him vulnerable, and all that took was getting stabbed in the gut and letting events play out the way they always would.

I love the dichotomy of how the Demons saw Inarius's death. Compared to the soldiers, and Clerics' perspective. One saw victory, while the other realized their damnation had been sealed. I imagine all those souls will end up becoming tormented statues like the ones Lilith was touching 😢

The prophecy was still fulfilled. It was not Inarius who had to pierce the heart of hatred, but Lilith. Think for yourself, what are the phrase "The Sanctuary is an abomination", and his actions in relation to Ratma? It is Inarius who has a heart full of hatred... Hatred for his creation, the sanctuary, for his children. Remember, they are still an angel and a demon, which means they do not affect the fate of the world. Only the Nephalem can do it (Itherael, the Archangel of Fate, D3 act 4). P.S. Mephisto himself hinted that Inarius and Lilith are not so different :)

That's not true at all. The High Heavens are a remnant of Anu, the creator god and source of good. They are inherently better than Hell, its why humanity is capable of kindness rather than just being demons. The point being made isn't that both sides are bad, but that Angels are not infallible.

Base context, it seems flat. Deep context, the Diablo Lore has centuries of him trying to balance the world, keep the peace, constant betrayal/failures, radical fear of discovery, only for all his fears to come true when Sanctuary is eventually discovered and everything he worked for basically evaporated. He’s not making a “Oh, well I guess that didn’t work” choice, he’s making a “Everything I’ve touched has just caused me pain, so I’ll just get rid of it and everything will be fine” insanely delusional decision because he refuses to accept that he’s forsaken for his choices.

Its actually fitting. Inarius is damned for his actions and lack of accountability. He then proceeded after getting out of prison, to reinforce his lack of accountability, thereby justifying his rejection from the Heavens in a first place. It never occured to him, what him getting out of hell in a first place, was a kind of trial.. to see if he is ready to take accountability or not. He doesn't, and proceeds to be selfish and self absorbed.. ultimately ending up exactly there he belongs.

What i found interesting about this was the different ideologies/religious beliefs combined cleverly. Lilith and Inarius speak of Sanctuary as a sentient being, and in the greek mythos Tatarus is both, a somewhere AND a someone. To be sent to the bouls/depths of Tartarus was to be fed to him. He is greek mythology's Hell and he, too, consumed the damned. He was a bastard creation and abomination. Well..less of a creation and more of an existence, as its not really clearly detailed why he was created or by whom. He was created after earth/Gaia but before time. The 3rd primordial being, the first beings and existences. The only writer/storyteller that gives him ancestry is Hygnius, as far as I'm aware. As, about 500 B.C., he was said to be the place and being created by Aether and Gaia. Also, the dead sea scrolls/dictations to Enoch that biblical scholars debate til this day, for whatever reason, say Eve wasn't the first woman created. Like Gaia in the greek mythos, Lilith is the first feminine creation. And they both conspired against their mate/partner/spouse. Gaia had more of a reason to than Lilith. However, they couldn't tell because they were so afraid of the dark. Enoch in scrolls say, congruently with many religions doctrines derived &/or centered around God/Christ, Adam realized he betrayed God and desperately and instantly tried to atone and rectify. First, by taking Eve's hand and running from God to hide. His new found knowledge is actual what messed him up. When he and Eve stopped to hide in/behind bushes and God found them and asked him why he didn't answer when he called him. Adam says they were afraid (dead ringer clue #1: as Adam knew every creation and was like a leader of it. He, not only, had never been afraid before, he had no knowledge of fear being an existing feeling. He knew nothing about fear.). Then when he was asked why he and Eve were hiding themselves, Adam says because they were naked (dead ringer #2: flesh was the only wardrobe Adam had ever known, so to now suddenly want to cover up is like a person with a coat putting another coat on.). The combination of the 2 answers Adam gave was how God knew Adam betrayed him. Enoch indicates the tree of knowledge was made by the third of heavenly hosts that betrayed God for the leaders of the archangels and a sect of heavenly hosts called the watchers, Lucifer(archangel leader) and Samyaza (the watchers leader). The silence and darkness of night was the beginning of the judgement Adam and Eve. Like Inarius in the game. Also, Inarius is more of an indication/nomenclature than a name. It refers to one that works harrd ceaselessly, conformed to patterns, schedules, orders, purpose, etc. But you can become frustrated while doing so. Especially if disruptions occurs. Also, Inarius and others in the game refer to heaven in plural implications. And the scrolls say that there substantially more than one heaven. 7 of them, in fact. And Samyaza and Lucifer didnt only betray God, they betrayed their subordinates, man, and animals. They tricked them utilizing their subordinates' loyalty and trust in them both. Ushering them into a pact and oath. Even the amount of them that realized it after and even during the war, can't ever be forgiven no matter what they did/do. They and their children, also called Nephilim, betrayed and cursed. Never to be forgiven. I mean there was a lot about this game that was complexed and elaborate to me. I have always found different ethnicties mythologies and religions/religious beliefs intriguing. So to see numerous ones in the story of the game series along with original creations and ideologies of the writers of the game was a entertaining journey

Now that's how you tell a damn story. This really shows Lilith's true nature and her heart and how it is broken. She lost everything it was taken from her and she wanted vengeance for it. Honestly I can't blame her for all that she does and when you really think about it she is humanity's greatest ally and because of her they and sanctuary exist. So in a lot of damn ways if I was in it I would be grateful to her despite how bad she is or can get because of what she created and the fact human beings exist because of her. She wanted the eternal conflict to end she wanted peace and happiness and a home where she could live free and have a family so in a lot ways out of everyone she has the most sense in my book. Say what you will about her but she is a true mother and deep down has a heart it's just broken. Glad it showed this because it shows who she is or at least who she could be and in a lot of ways I feel sorry for her because of all that she has lost and has suffered.

Sadly no, when an angel is reborn, it is a new individual with no previous memory, only that he replace the previous angel position. Tyrael is a special case because he willed himself from oblivion. On the other hand, when a demon get killed, it respawns in the pit of hell. Maybe there is something to do with the aspects and prime evils things (Tyrael is aspect of justice/ a concept-idea that made flesh and other primes rapresent sins and chaos/negative darker aspects because of that they can not be killed only if you can some how erase ideas and concepts from existence).

I truly believe that Archangels, especially Imperius and Inarius, should pay more and hire top-tier blacksmiths as well as investing for high-quality smithing tools!
