I never played D3 until 5 years after it came out just because of how bad everyone said it was. Now I play it, (hell, I'm playing it as I'm listening to your rant) and having a blast. Maybe in 10 years I'll pick up a copy of D4 in the bargain bin at Walmart.

As someone who has years of program exp I will say two words about how you put more mobs on screen, object pooling. For stash tabs lazy loading, pagination and filtering, delta updates and server-side validation for security. Aka, a player account keeps their inventory record and so does the server. This data does not need to be exchanged between the player and server until the players inventory changes. To put it simply, I say I have a dollar in the bank and the banks ledger confirms this but only when i walk into the bank to check, add or remove. The notion that all players stash tabs are connected is hilariously stupid. Optimising speed while keeping people honest is not a new thing. And if you don't believe me look up diffie hellman key exchange, public key cryptography or even block changing. Spaghetti confirmed. Great vid Hawg!

Im looking forward to season 4 because i stopped playing the game 1 week after season 1 because it was just trash never could get into it. But after looking at the changes in season 4 the only reason im willing to even try it again is because it looks like its finally coming out of beta lol. Though i will not buy the expansion until that goes on sale at 50%+ off or something lol, because i have no doubt blizzard will f this up again.

The changes I see are not gonna keep people in the game. Item reworks that make itemization rarer while working on one item for 30 levels is not gonna be fun. The core of the game is too flawed.

@@hawg_tv I completely agree that as of right now their are some major flaws with the game but seeing how i haven't played the game in almost a year and seeing all the changes they have made it really does look like this is the way the game should have been at launch, and will be willing to try it for maybe a couple of weeks and then go back to poe and last epoch or even play some d3 as d3 is what got me in to the genre and also introduced me to poe.

They keep intentionally delaying content updates to spread out login metrics which is actually causing them to bleed players. I really hate drip fed time gated content in a seasonal game. They need to release the entire season of content at the start of the season if they want increased engagement

A previous iteration of Blizzard created this genre and was truly a pioneer. The current iteration of blizzard just copy and pastes things but somehow makes it worse. They do not have the ability to create anymore, they can only replicate things poorly.

Thinking season four will save diablo, I will give the achievements that this team has. Game Still no extra stash space, cannot name or organize stash tabs myself. Had to rework items in a loot game, did not know what to do with the core activity (hell tides), cannot increase monster density, could not make a leaderboard in time for launch, had only dungeons for an endgame, the smallest skill tree in the industry, has no loot filter, and regurgitate its flawed endgame from the previous game (rifts). Season four is the season, boys!

The sad thing is, for many, the game has been saved. For every 1 of you Hawg, there is 100,000 people who think everything about D4 is pretty good, it's insane but Blizzard will still continue to pump out strong returning retention metrics and no major "all hands" calls will ever need to be made to better optimize and improve the game beyond small band aid changes, because players just keep coming back. They don't want a good game, they want a game you come back to each season, open up the shop, buy some cosmetics and leave until next season.

I dont think D4 S4 is going to the savior everyone says it is. After playing the PTR I really don't see it being the great. 1 week of fun and then back to the same frustration with all of the bait and switch crap they put in it. Thing is if they can't figure out what is fun in Diablo after 28 years then this is CLEARLY not the team that should be working on it. Start with clearing out the leadership that approved and pushed out this mess! P.S. The S4 wasn't in the PTR probably because it is going to be something lazy(being the last season just like the fated raids in WoW as seems to be their trend lately) and are relying on all their BIG changes to carry them over to the xpac. Remember the Druid cosmetics that looked like duct tape, a lettuce leaf and deer antlers??? Still, we hope you like season 4 because we haven't tested it, so if you don't like it then it's the player's fault.
