IMPORTANT :thought we could reroll a greater affix into another stat but it would keep its greater affix status, that was no longer the case when i changed a greater affix attack speed into crit chance, it was no longer a greater affix

Excellent video, appreciate it!Couple questions: 1. Can the masterwork big bonus (lvl 4/8/12) hit one of the tempered affixes? 2. Can you enchant over a tempered affix? Would it then be replaced by a "regular" affix, or a different "tempered specific" affix 3. Does tempering roll a value range within an affix, or is it always a set value? Apologies if I missed any of these in the video. Thanks!

1. Yes, that's what we are looking for 2. No 3. Value range (you can have the desired affix but with bad value, so you may want or not to reroll it if your item isn't special(ex: 3 Greater affix))

Enchanting after masterworking actually works. I accidentally did it live the other day in Season 4. I swapped the 25% bonus stat and got a nice high roll from the enchanter and got the most for my money I think.

Need to change max cost on enchantments. Spent over 50-60m rerolling a stat on amulet and have yet to hit Hellbent Commander; would settle for a +1 at this point. Definitely agree temper items before spending cash on enchantments; odds of getting 2 tempers you want aren't necessarily very high bricked several items w 1-2 greater affixes

The trick is to not try to enchant into skill modifiers. Just farm more items until you hit that as one of the affixes. The chance to roll on a specific skill modifier is so low.

My very first item I got in the eternal realm was a 2H with three greater affixes from the obel vendor. Call me crazy, but I rerolled one of the stats (cold resistance, since all my resistances are maxed out). I ended up getting a 58% damage instead.

Actually very sad, and i think a big mistake they did with tempering.. Imagine if you get a 2 or 3 star greater affix item,. and you enchant it, and get lucky with one of the affixses that was bad. It is now a BIS item. Then,. if its an item that has 6-9 possible tempering results,. the chance to get that right one, on 5 rolls, is.. bad. So that item, if you dont get the right tempering result, is now destroyed. Yes, you can keep it, and ppssibly it can be good for another build. But they should have added a , keep the old affix, like its always been with enchanting. Or a very costly way to reset tempering. I have noe idea why non of the big content creators and blizzard partners have not focused on this. It will be a major let down for most players. Meaning,. the averidge joe, that does not have hords of followers that trow gear on them.

if you get such an item early in your progress, you could just sell it for trillions of gold, to a rich guy / streamer i guess 😅 (ofc before you enchanted it) it probably is like uber endgame, when you start thinking about such stuff

Correct me if im wrong but if masterworking one of the top 3 stats is vital for your build wouldnt it be better to masterwork it first before tempering so your not adding to more possible rolls for the masterwork to hit

Hey man. Short answer yes. But your items will not change. Only your new items will have the changes to them. Your old items in your seasonal inventory will be frozen if you don’t remove them and break them down or equip them. That is not a problem however because the new loot will be much better and easier to understand AND manage. The game will feel very different and a much more enjoyable loot system. I just came back to this game and started up a new character, but I''ve never really been interested in playing seasons and re-rolling a new character for each new season.....I just want to develop the one that I'm playing and get it as high as I can, so glad to see these changes will still apply to non-season characters....

NO. you always start a new season with a new level 1 character. So it does not aply to your character, as you have to make a new to play the new season. Offcourse, the old season 3 character is transfred to the eternal realm. the non season realm and THERE, and only there, will theese changes apply to it. But there is no reason what so ever to revisit and olc character on eternal.

S4 is much better game than ever before. However tempering is ridiculous. Rng to enchant the thing you need then another rng to set how good the enchant is. It’s just crazy. Was so happy getting perfect rolls on affix’s just to brick it in 5 seconds. In my opinion we should get to choose the exact desired effect and let rng decide the strength of it with a value range. Also I feel like I keep getting the same thing over and over and over. So I don’t even think each enchant has equal roll percentage. For a game that wants casuals to play seasons it makes no sense to make tempering so impossible. No casual wants to put in 1000’s of hours to get the perfect item then never play that character again when a new season starts.

Yes, but a lot of things cannot be traded. Blizzard never had a problem with farmers. They had problems with people buying the farm having end game gear instantly and not playing after 15 mins. Now with master work / tempering they still gotta play a while to make it bis.

So upgrading doesn’t work the same way as before, I guess? I mean, before this update, you would make sure you had the right piece of gear, with 3 affixes you needed and a fourth to reroll. Only after that would you upgrade your gear, because if you upgraded first and then rerolled, the rerolled affix wouldn’t get the bonus values added from the upgrading process. Did that change?

you just need 2/3 of the affixes to be good (ideally 3 Greater affix, but 1 Greater is probably realistic for most players)

No they only removed the fail chance for mastercrafting, so you dont have to sufer caus of failling the upgrading

I think you might be mixing up the bricking with failing at master working. In the PTR when you master worked an item the master working had a chance to fail. That failure has been removed for S4. You can still brick an item when tempering, but I think bricking is a bit dramatic. The item is still usable, it's just that it may not be an optimal or super desirable item. I think the bricking might add to the thrill of finding, tempering and master working items to get the ideal piece of gear.

as someone mentioned they removed the ability to fail on masterwork chance going from 4-12 (which didn't matter anyways if it failed it just meant you lose mats and get extra % chance to craft on the next one) tempering still is 7 rolls and then that is final

Uninstalled recently because of tempering. I’m dumbfounded how they made all of these amazing changes to make it easier and more fun to farm gear and change builds, yet they bottleneck all of that with a horrendous tempering system. Perma bricking god roll empowered gear that you will almost never get again because you get only 6 rolls for 2 independent tempering slots with a 1 in 4/5 rng where you can roll dogshit 4 times in a row. I guess they expect people to continue to take the brick on the chin instead of simply having a system where you can exhaust all of your mats requiring you to farm to continue temper rolls. How do they not expect people to quit if the reward of getting good gear in their grind for gear game is set behind a high chance of bricking the gear you grind for. 🤯
