17:23 there’s absolutely no excuse other than a grind/pay wall to not have more storage. You can’t force players to be in an online game and then say that you only get to have 128 bites of storage space because we don’t want to allow you to have more space in some random database than that. Until you grind the game for three years and “earn” your storage space

The funniest thing to me is I bet so many of these dudes who left those comments on Act Man's video are probably on D4 reddit right now rioting over the patch changes saying the game is doomed. How quick the tables turn lol. "Don't criticize my favorite game!" Blizzard releases patch 1.1 "THIS GAME IS DOOMED" Yeah bro, welcome to the club. We know. The game is entirely mediocre and half-baked, but it's hanging on by a thread because it's combat is the one redeeming quality it has. It just doesn't feel like a complete game at all, and that's what you get with Blizzard and a live service product.

it wont get fix or changed or "improved". "End game" should start at lvl 50, here were the probem lies, you suposed to beat the game at lvl 20 the most, when the power spike no longe rrelevant to the game, that leaves 25 ish level gaps of just void content. then we have that they hyper inflated the end game by putting all the relevant skills and passive behind giant pay walls... then add to that the item drops are finite and on loop with a "missing drop table" my inventoy was full of 9 legendaries of useless stuff. "earth and storm get a massive bonus" but the items affix was "+1 companion/ +2 shapeshifting/ +1vulnerable" i am basically stuck with my gear as it is, and will probably be stuck for it till i pushed lvl 70, cuz even thou it has "item power" for the skills i have been using and such there are no items yet for it. its like... there is a meta... and the only way to progress is to stat check the world... go figure, thats just any other rpg game... oh wait, this is an rpg, with hack and slash mechanics on it

Story is important. Even if you don't personally even know it, knowing that it is was objectively done well gives context to why you are playing in the first place. See shadowlands where everyone thought the story was whack and was monumental on why a lot of people jumped ship. They went to FF14 where the storytelling and world building seemed to have a lot more care given to it. I think D4 did have an interesting campaign even though I never want to do that Meshif wander through the desert thing ever again. It beats the boring endgame loop of dungeons that should be resized down to a third of their size because they are mostly vacuous empty spaces.

20:19 I guess I’m just confused about what does endgame is because as far as I can tell, there’s absolutely nothing to play the game four between levels at least 70 through 99. Like seriously, your build already came online, there’s no content that changes, you just get minor upgrades over and over all the same items that you already had, and then maybe you don’t get one shot by Uber Lilith before you three shot her. That’s not a fun or interesting end game. But at least when you put 500 hours into the game, you’re most likely going to get one of the Uber, uniques, right? Right? … Oh, yeah, only like one or two people in Korea or China get them out of millions of people putting hundreds of billions of hours into the game. But at least there’s a leaderboard so that you can care about leveling up to 100 and making those small games right? And at least the process isn’t completely and totally tedious, right? I mean there’s a New and fun stuff to do throughout and like there’s stuff to work towards that’s a New or feels like it’s progressing your character that you couldn’t do before… And there’s nothing that waste your time like 100 items worth of stash space when you need to devote about 20 of those to gems, right? … wow, sick endgame. Now to the contrary, the campaign experience is the main experience, and most people barely make it through if they even make it through the campaign. Which is why I’m confused why the experience is so bad on like a druid or barbarian 1 through 50

31:30 I will say that a bunch of the zones do have some kind of level requirement and there is incentive to go there as far as I understand it so long is the dungeons also share that requirement in that zone, because players may want very powerful codex aspects, unless those also persist from season to season…. Which I think would overall be better, but it’s always a tradeoff.

Then the game is very boring and repetitive when you start your journey into "endgame" by level 50 (oh half the total) but sadly it gets better again (and probably at its peak) way too late ... when most players (and seriously most people in their right mind, unless you're a core player) already abandoned the game or lost interest

i mean.. the act man didn't miss much of the game. "yes he missed the end game", and by end game you mean just mindless dungeons runs with a item power cap at lvl 70... got it. renowned is not endgame cuz it resets, side quest is not endgame since it doesn't even add to the world, all you are left is with a cycle of 3 months speed runs to lvl 100, repeating the main story over and over again on each cycle. also on the black smith debacle.... why not make one family tree of black smith, that later on ties to the main quest in an indirect way as in THE BLACK SMITH MADE THE ARMOR FOR THE HELL EVENT and so on and forth. there are ways to make side quest interesting, fresh and ties nicely to the main quest. recent example if memory serves me right, division content. thats an example of a competent arpg (yes i said arpg cuz you have to pick roles on that game as well, sue me). world activities are tied to the side quest and progretion of the map content and side quest and side stories are tied to the main sotry one way or the other; be it if to gather more supplies for a stronghold you just helped, gather intel to better help patrols of the map, fetch a few items before looters get to it. we can translate this to D4 as in; world events will grant you bonuses of better gear by a limited time and more peaceful paths to travel with an increas of loot drop on the ares the monster were pushed to, side quest like strongholds and fetch missions will expand the world lore and increas the area technology for example "you get 2 free affix re rolls on this area for this season" or "upgrades on this area are free after completing x amount of missions" or "Compleat side ques to unlock extra upgrade options through the whole world"

i dont think people were saying the early game bad, though we do need to accept that we cannot have an early game and late game that are both good. this is due to HOW WE PLAY more than how they make games, we want better gear sooner so that we wont out level it in 30mins and we also dont want level 11-15 to take as long as lvl 91-95 so....this just is the way it is, and i thought we all accepted this long ago. anyway what people were saying is that much of the stuff he was complaining about not liking isnt in the early game. you know, like diablo 2 mob immunity, resistance changes....things you didnt get to experience until you "beat" diablo 2. hes saying he "beat the game" after finishing the story. if this was a diablo 2 review made by a guy who never played nightmare and hell difficulties we wouldnt listen to anything he said and we he said "he beat the game" we would laugh in his face.

Why i think POE campaign is necessary because it starts the spark of your build and you gather gear and knowledge about build during campaign for when mapping starts. And you run trough it pretty quick if you want. D4 you play for how dam long and you need to collect all the shit along the way, it wont even compare.
@panzerswineflu Жыл бұрын
@@Eametsa that's why I say doing one character for league start in campaign is understandable. Once you make a little currency most people just buy hollow palm and twink levelling gear anyway rather than trying to keep upgrading found items along the way. In which case it doesn't really feel like a part of the game because it's not the build your going for, just the quickest way to get you there. I just leveled a scion without hollow palm and ditched the levelling gear part way through in 10 hours for 10 acts. Granted I quit in kalandra league and only started back two months ago and it was my third character through so a bit rusty, a bit of chat shenanigans and giving stuff to people coming from d4. A diablo game must have a story. If not, make a new ARPG. But it is better to use a famous name and franchise to sell a product. I agree with ActMan basically because same as he is, I am a Diablo fan and D4 was simply disappointing and boring. I played POE and I had lots of fun. Sadly had to stop because of real life stuff and eventually I felt I lost touch. But what I can tell you is that POE shows is a game with innovation, adding new mechanics... too much. I think the make base game everything that was in a season. And that's overwhelming. I think seasonal mechanics could be added to main game but with the propper adaptation. And as for the rest, maybe leave them as a mini game with some sort of rift, portal or time warp (e.g. they could leave some of the tables where you craft the malignant hearts and let you go and farm some. Maybe add a quest to explain "some time in the past... bla bla bla ... this happened ... bla bla bla ... there is a way to spot and find these..." do a short chain quest optional. Also, make quests ! mark to have different colour depending on whether they are story (campain or seasonal), renown, class, mechanics, optional (e.g. optional could be used for old systems as season passes)

My problem os that your graph 📊 states a proportion of what hardcore and casual players value. But the probmem is that D4 supposed end game starts after the story is done, less than 50% of your leveling is done ✔️ and there are no new mechanics. So... level 50/100 is really the end? When you can be done with the campain by level 35... you wonder for 15 extra levels (almost 50% of your leveling so far) ... and that's endgame? 💯 That's what makes D4 boring for me... a complete disproportionate distribution of complexity and challenge. Premature endgame pushed because lack of creativity. 😅 Paragon boards should be less powerful but start sooner... skills should have more variety. S1 was a botch.... and I kinda get why... because it was supposed to be with launch. That's why whatever is seasonal is rubish... gems 💎 are broken, resistance is not working... like it doesn't exist, no control in what our character improves when leveling up.... Complete freedom to try and play whatever we want using a boring and uncomfortable system that penalise you for trying different skills 😢 Want me to farm renown again? Yes, sure but at least give me new things... don't make me play again, the same, farm over and for the same rewards? Newsflash: add new quests, change some lines, give new rewards that are meant only for the season. Try out rune systems.. either like D2 attached to gear and with runewords or like D3 attached to spells... or maybe like tatoos attached to you. And if it doesn't work.. it was sason. Fix crafting, or give us the illusion we can forge our stats. Like maybe using a base with vulnerable would make it more likely to get vulnerable. Crafting instead of reforging ... at some point. Yet, S1 was a rushed beta version of a game sold and released still under development. S2? Well they already announced an expansion so I figure S2 will have some fixes, a theme stolen from shadowlands (lets better say taken). B

I'm assuming Actman is like me, play a shitload of rpgs for decades, with tons of stories, innovations, and ideas. Once you've dipped your toe into the rpg genre, and seen the best you can get, and the worst you can get, everything becomes mush or just not worth caring about. The cutscenes are a perfect point. The cutscenes in D4 bring the world to a halt, and lazily recap the shit YOU JUST DID. D2 used them to retell what you did in an artistic way, like with diablo dying, it did NOT look that good in game, but in a cutscene, it can look beautiful. D4 just seems to use them for exposition, and 2 times to actually tell a story or show something. Now look at something like Witcher 3 or Skyrim, the cutscenes are usually in game ones, which have YOUR character making decisions, and doin certain things to move it forward. The only time it cuts away in Witcher 3 is for a artistic recap combined with remarks from Gerald about his choice. In Skyrim, from start to finish, you NEVER get an actual cutscene, it's all in game stuff, not a for a moment does it cut away, you ARE the guy in the cutscene because the line is removed. When D4 tries to, for some reason, chose BOTH, it becomes hollow.

The people whos arguments he's straw-manning made a valid point about crying about certain aspects of the game which were caused in large part by his approach to the game. First, I disagree entirely with the opinion that everything leading up to the end game sucked. If anything it was some of my favorite gameplay and story in a game for a while outside of maybe a masterpiece like Elden Ring. I thought the campaign was great and believe a large part of gis complaints about it were petty things to bolster his rhetoric. Like vendors not having interesting enough stories, who cares? I definitely don't care about having Griswold level vendors that I'm just gonna sell junk to. There are plenty of interesting side quests with longer and interesting story lines that tie into previous games. Which are better voice acted and written than most precious Diablo iterations. So his comparisons to D2 quality are laughable to me and very obviously viewed through rose colored glasses. Even the example clips of "great story" in D2 he put in the video were pretty lame, and clearly very poorly voice acted to boot. I however do agree with some of those "fanboys" that this homeboy made the decision to make multiple complaints about difficulty while never getting out of Torment 1. That's just a super disingenuous complaint, and while I agree any approach to the game should be fun in its own right, I don't understand how you can make such disingenuous points when you haven't actually approached anything in the game in a challenging manner. You take the easiest approach, do everything you can to overpower the content, then complain about difficulty. Certain fights in the campaign could 100% have been far more punishing, but you can't be playing on baby boy difficulty and simultaneously complain about a game not being super challenging. Dude never even did a nightmare dungeon, which is obviously the more challenging content in-game. It's just drama bait at that point. In the end there are 100% big problems with D4 in the end-game, but I found a large part of his complaints were either about petty bugs which are already being addressed pretty regularly, or complaints about the story / open world aspects that simply do not align with my own main issues. At least until he got to the big complaints which everyone who actually played the end-game already agrees with. Which is why it's very obvious he just read most of the points he made off Reddit or Online articles and decided to cash in on an easy money video about. He literally never made it to a point in his own playthrough where many of the largest issues in the game should have actually become overbearing and detrimental to the overall gameplay experience. Plus his weighting on story seemed excessively skewed because I simply enjoyed the story, main side quests with tie-in lore, and cinematics an absolute ton. It really felt like a video detached from my own experiences in the game, and an exercise in tapping into drama baiting rhetoric.

Look a genuine question here, first did you not know he was in T2 as opposed to 1, otherwise known as the highest difficulty you can start at? Also if you have to experience literally 30-35 hours of low difficulty before you leave "baby mode" how is that not a valid complaint? How can you take the easiest approach and overpower the content when content scales to you and the harder difficulties are locked until after completion? Nightmare dungeons occur after you beat the campaign so even then you'd still have to dump 30-35 hours of baby mode before you get them?

I also did say I agreed some of the chapter bosses could have been a little more punishing, but that doesn't change anything about the dude not actually doing any of the difficult content in game and proceeding to complain it's not difficult enough as one of his most consistent complaints sprinkled through his video. Nor does it detract from my disagreement of literally most of his general complaints. Outside of the real problems which he couldn't have even experienced himself because he didn't even play long enough to really experience them, were all either relatively petty bugs which will inevitably be fixed, or were not in-line with my own experiences like with the story.

ah he just gave it all away when he tried to compare games to "media" and he used a tv show. combined with other stuff hes said like just beat baal and make a new character. this guy just wants to be told a story and he wants to hear "the end", that isnt even remotely what people want from games including d2 that he praises

I think its safe to say most ppl agree the 1 - 50 experience was pretty solid. - No need for anyone to reach this hard, just to defend the game. If someone is turned off getting to the softcap; then there is always just 'finishing what you started', but few people are this stubborn about a game. He's leaning on composition, not just one element like story. - and he's dead right, after level 50 the composite elements of this game go out the window. Its not his fault, not your fault. Blizzard decided to do this. - You have MMO's challenged by tryung to keep all the composite elements of a game going, throughout a players journey. Even PoE works at this. - but Blizzard thinks they actually have an audience from 50 - 100 while cutting as much work out as possible? Lol, you're wrong. Theres no audience for that. Go play an MMO and actually have plenty of reasons to push. Get it?

Lvl 84 rabies shred druid. I actually dig the patch, things feel different but in a good way to me. I feel like if you looked at a build online and power leveled a meta build....that's not fun. People wanna take the fun stuff out of a game and then complain. I love the nerfs, get rekt meta builds. Yes there are issues, I'm sure they'll be ironed out.

I'm not saying D4 is good and it doesn't deserve all the hate. But this guy is an "Act" literally. That comment in the beginning was 100% on point. "Sponsored video on a trending topic." You really think he cares if the game is "good" or not... Heck no, this is feeding the algorithm with a good writing and editing team that knows more about what's going on than the "act man"

The irony when his video is about the major mobile gaming company called blizzard, who have literally deleted a consumers paid for game in the past.

i mean i get the endgame comments even though the act man is right too, but he's wrong when saying what requires media you to spend 30hrs to review, well you should experience what you review, or do you watch the first hour of the lord of the rings and then say it's bring and only plays in lush green farmlands and hobbits are boring.
