Soo I watched the whole video just to make sure you didn't cover it first. I made a boo boo.. with my larzuk quest.. I was lvling a 40 bumper for a grush and I wanted a 4os polearm(can't do cows because I cant do baal) sooo I went to proper mlvl area to get an ilvl for 4os max through q.. and got impatient I found a low quality scythe and upped it with the cube recipe to normal quality... I didn't know it resets the ilvl to 1.... I got 3os lol 😆 😂 🤣 lesson learned

Yes for some reason upping an item with the cube resets it to lvl 1. Not really sure why that is but it's a pretty well known fact. Guess I shoulda mentioned it. I will pin you to the top so others can see.

Absolutely it took a while to sift through the testosterone filled screamers - but once I found this guys - I unsubbed pretty much all of them.. I think it’s to do with the age of d2 the original… GGM seems to be around my age - I’m 36.. I can really relate to him.. and I think lots of people that played d2 on release are around our ages… we play the game for our enjoyment not so we can have the perfect meta.. Hot tip on finding a polearm suitable for making Insight (Ral + Tir + Tal + Sol) for your level-27 Act 2 mercenary. With most polearms, Larzuk won't give you the four sockets you need for this rune word - most polearms found in Normal quests will only get three sockets, and NM and Hell polearms will get five or six sockets. What you need is a polearm dropped by a level 26-40 monster, which makes Normal Secret Cow Level an ideal place to search. (Act 4 Normal is also a good place to search, but Act 5 can drop polearms that are too high level). Take one of these Normal Cow Level polearms back to Larzuk on any difficulty, and he'll punch exactly four sockets in it.

And here is another tip, I painfully found out for the cost of a SOL rune, even though I do play patch >= 10 and do know a spear from a polearm: That rune word happens to require that ladder game type thingy, too, if you want it to work!😢😅

One thing that really helps and has a fairly cheap rune word item is Act 2 Mercs get them an INSIGHT polearm..thats a big help.

Larzuk gives the max number of sockets for the ilvl that the item was found in. Example: Crystal sword found in normal cows will always get 4 open sockets from Larzuk (spirit base). This is an essential piece of information for any low level caster.

I had an idea to increase the usability of not-so-used bases by adding a % of an attribute to them. Like say a glorious axe would have damage undead, colossus blade would have 5% stun chance, etc. Just to incentivize the usage of items, not just picking one for attack speed.

Hi GGM, absolutely love your vids. I had this OLD idea from first time I played D2 and that was to make a Guided Arrow build. Is that viable at all? I have no overview of items and builds. Just started D2R again and watching your vids while doing so.

Guided arrow was recently buffed, and because it doesn't require Attack rating to hit the target it can be an interesting ability. The main downside of guided arrow is that it only hits one target at time. It is usually paired up with other multi hit abilities to accommodate that weakness.

Ive tried googling this, but does heavy armor have any psychical damage reduction as a balance to the R/W penalty? looking over the bases they look so unbalanced..Archon plate vs Heavy armor is basically the same stats. These videos are truly a godsend to enjoy the game better btw

Since you discussed bows for mercs would you say there is a reason to stick with the rogue over a desert merc? I have never seen anyone but myself use the rogue but now I am getting into nightmare and the issue of which merc do I choose coming up as the desert merc in nightmare has some really powerful auras. I like the ranged attack on my merc and the aoe so idk what to do.

so which merc you pick is going to come down very specifically to which character you are playing. they all have very specific bonuses strengths and weaknesses. The auras on the act 2 merc can be powerful but for certain classes and certain builds they are relatively useless. The ACT 1 merc since 2.4 can be extremely powerful with the right equipment. She really needs a bow with pierce to shine let me know what character and build you are and I will try to give you a better idea.

@@durag6196 summon druid would benefit from the auras yes, most likely the might aura act 2 Merc. an act 3 fire Merc would have a good effect to with max enchant so all your minions get enchanted with extra fire damage and more attack rating.

(spirit), 15ed/15dura 3os Scarab Husk (enigma), eth flail 4os (hoto), eth war scepter 5os (cta), 15ed eth thresher 4os, 15ed eth cryptic axe 4os, 15ed eth mancatcher 4os, all break even for infinity and insight, 15ed eth sacred armor 4os (fort). These are the best bases IMO.

Socketed a Crown Shield and laughed - for my first Normal run. No regrets. Still have that Spirit. Now finding 2 socket OS Elite Pally Shield for hell was hell (Dropped a Kurast eventually but damn) Ditto I need a way to drop good 4/5/6 sockets desirable for bases (and 3 sockets for some) but... my FoH is NOT made for cows.

On new characters yes, on the same character no. 3 socket quests per character, 1 per difficulty setting. Which is why I generally recommend saving them for something important. You can also just level up a new character specifically for the socket quest.

On d2r or Diablo 2 LOD? On D2 LOD you can unkill a hardcore character by using hero editor which I have downloadable. And Diablo 2 resurrected no there's no way you can unkill a character as far as I know. You could however use hero Editor to recreate the character and then import him into Diablo 2 Resurrected

@@lenintupa so the editor does not work on d2r but it will work on Diablo 2 LOD save files. How you do it is you edit a Diablo to Lord of destruction save file which I have in the pack if you download it. Then when you copy the D2 LOD file into the Diablo 2 resurrected save directory it will automatically convert it when you launch the game. Keep in mind once it's converted it doesn't convert back and you won't be able to edit it anymore

No magic find doesn't work that way. Magic find effects the quality of what drops not the item that drops. If you kill a monster and it drops a dagger it will always be a dagger even if you have 10000% magic find. What magic find does is determine the quality of the dagger. I.E. unique, set, rare, magic. Runes are unaffected by magic find at all so if an El rune drops with 0% mf it's an El rune. If an El rune drops with 10000% magic find its still an El rune

The only question I have, do I have to be in the right difficulty level for the socket quest or can I for instance say a giant etherial thresher - giving it to a low level character that just finished the "normal" difficulty socket quest or do I have to be in "hell" difficulty? The reason why I ask I do not wanna waste the quest, because I need a 6 socket etherial gian thresher. Thanks

What I needed to know about item bases is the best way to farm archon plates. This video did not cover it, so I guess the title was misleading.

You can't deliberately farm most bases. There are a few tricks to up your chances but for the most part it's just too random. Armor racks and weapon racks are good farming spots for bases. As long as you're in an area where they drop your set. Magic find can negatively affect drop rate for white items so take magic find off.

@GGMentor since writing this comment, I have found other sources that have suggested some farming areas. Lower kurast can generate a few armor stands and He'll cows is a good place to farm as well since they drop a lot of white items.

@@prof.mrsirdr1896 problem with LK is it's too low level for some of the better bases. But its ok for some of the lower level ones. As an example Archon Plate is a TC 84 item which means it won't drop in LK from armor racks. LK is a much lower level area at level 80.

At 30:08 the reason you're helmet went from lvl 15 to 27 requirement. Is because the SOL rune needed to make the recipe. Sol is 27 to use So Rune word weapons will default to the highest requirements of its parts
