Being able to reduce the damage output of Gloams/Black Souls before they 1 shot you from off the map, might be pretty useful honestly. I like these proposed changes.

You probably already know this, but Oblivion Knights always cast decrep when you're in melee range. Loving this series! There's still a lot that needs to be fixed in D2R.

Yea I agree, there is literally no reason to use Weaken, and I wasn't even aware of the way in which reduces physical damage. Wow that's so bad.

I'm really enjoying this series. I always have ideas about to improve the lesser used skills. I like most of your ideas better than my own. For this one, it could either be all damage reduced, or for the player, all damage taken is reduced by.

The way to fix the way the damage reduction is calculated is actually very easy. You just change the place where the damage reduction occurs in the damage calculation to the very end of the calculation (IE it reduces the total damage done by 33% so if you have base damage, times enhanced damage, times damage buffs and then apply curse of weakness (Bd) * (Ed) * (Db) - (CoW) if you plug numbers (10)*(1.50)*(1.5)-(1.33) then your damage of 10 becomes 15, which becomes 22.5, which is then divided by 1/3rd and you get -7.425 damage for a result of 15.075 damage rounded to simply 15 damage. As you can see, that actually removes the damage buff that entity had from whatever source. It may actually be too powerful if done that way, in which case you simply put weakens damage reduction at the very start of the calculation, reducing the Base Damage by 33%

I think it should reduce the targets physical damage by a flat ammount and also have a -% to elemental damage dealt, like level 1 could be -15 to targets phys damage and -33% to elemental. If level 20 weaken as a fat -300 flat phys damage it wouldn't matter how much % ED the monsters have if their base phy damage is dropped to nothing.

Weaken reducing magic damage could be great. Also, I'd say life decrep, keep a set radius, so it can be surgical.

So Weaken should apply a multiplier to the enemy's overall damage output, rather than a deduction? Seems like that could be a better approach. It might need to be scaled back so max level is eg 50 percent reduction or even less.

Personally I would add tick damage as well with total damage reduction just like static but lower like 10% heath to a limit but I'm willing to be talked out of it

Weaken is a Defensive Curse, I think Converting it into an offensive curse isn't in line with that the curse is for. Fixing the Curse to actually work properly I think is better overall, as it would actually live up to what it states as opposed to doing essentially nothing.

I like this idea! They could even just make it cancel monster health regen and give it a super-long duration.

The best use of it would be to delete it so necromancers have an extra point to spend somewhere else lol

Didn't know weaken curse is so broken then what 'bout those items that proc weaken curse on striking or getting struck, r they totally worthless?

How about making it an aoe stun or a slow.

Decrepify already is a slow, and it already does that better lol. Perhaps a new type of Defensive reduction could take place or something like -attack rating against the monster to make him miss more.

@@GGMentor Hmm I like the idea of def reduction but amp damage is usually always better. Just sucks that curses don't stack... maybe the synergy would be adding effects of others into further down curses to solve the stacking problem.
