The black demon lineage, who Diablo is the progenitor of, is known for their pursuit of anything they find interesting instead of strength, which is different from the other demon lineages which only value strength. Diablo is simply interested in the “truth” of the tensura world and believes that his only chance at finding that truth is by following Rimuru. Like diablo joining rimuru.diablo stopped trying to evolve because it seemed too easy and boring and when he saw not only the time mask end up in rimuru's hand but rimuru's fast evolution intrigued him. I like the small details like the demon hunter immediately understand how powerful Diablo is because he's casually saying Guy, and Tesstarosa's primordial name, while the saints (who are not well versed in demonology) didn't know it was a huge deal. For context : Demons aren't allowed to speak of other demons name that rank higher than them and since Primordial Demons are the highest rank of all demons, that means only fellow Primordials are allowed to address each other casually like this, everybody else have to address them as lords or something of similar stature.
