this is the scariest Diablo period. The background music, the fact that you can't see everything and have to move forward to see what's ahead of you, even the graphic looks creepy.

I played Diablo for the first time on the PS1, and was absolutely terrified the entire time. D1 may be an action-RPG in modern parlance, but for me it was pure horror.

Diablo has that sensation that only games like dark souls can bring, I remember when they said they wanted to make diablo 2 more like what dark souls was.

The ambience in this game was and still is so frightening. The music with moaning and screaming, the blood splashing when killing the goatmen and the difference between levels making you feel that you are truly getting closer to Diablo, the Lord of Terror himself.

I played this game in 97 at 7 years old, this is the first time I have watched gameplay since then.. wow I am captivated just as much right now as I was back then.. well done blizzard

I played this game when I was 12 in '96. It was a totally different era of gaming. This game was incredible that time. I still find it incredible. Sometimes I still have nightmares where I walk around under ground level in darkness, and demons, beasts chase me. I have to hold dark moldy massive wooden doors which are pushed from the other side by strong horned 2 m tall beasts. I love this game's atmosphere. Thanks for the upload!

Here I am. 1:33am on a wednesday. Laying in bed unable to sleep when suddenly here I remind myself playing diablo one as a boy.. And unable to control myself, my body lurches out of bed and out of my room. Going to my desk and grabbing my phone. I trudge back to bed with cats following suit.

The bittersweet memories are flooding back, my sister and I were trying to play this game without aby basic knowledge of english language, ech time we did something right was a small victory. I remember sitting with a dictionary trying to even play this game.

The original Diablo game is by far the most horror genre in the franchise. I remember my parents had bought it for everyone. Back in the day, ESRB ratings were not always heeded. I started the game using my DOS and when I entered the cathedral, I was scared half to death. I was too young at merely eight years old. They won't ever make a Diablo game with such atmospheric horror again.
