As a target employee, you are probably not getting paid enough to have to deal with people like that.

Yes! Ever since the introduction of Pokemon cards back in the day, the heavier the pack, the more likely it contains a much rarer card due to them being holographic in some fashion. The holographic layer weighs more than normal print.

There’s no way a billion dollar company like target or Walmart is stopping someone from buying a bunch of the same products they want to make a sale in the end.

Maybe they should have just put a limit on how many they could purchase.

You should become a Pokémon card channel! They are A LOT more popular than funko pops right now.

The only place a cop stands in my Target is by the cards section. Looking at all the reselling stuff that happened at Target (Stanley Valentines cup, Taylor Swift books, etc.) I understand them trying to do something.
@RacingBedgood19 сағат бұрын
Weighing would absolutely come in handy for things like NFL/NBA memorabilia cards. A jersey patch will be thicker and weigh more than a standard. You would never really be able to know WHAT is in the pack, but you'd know it had SOMETHING in it.
@Nightwing8316 сағат бұрын
Target does not like reselling. I had a local shop that sold used media. Target “targeted” this guy by catching thieves and asking them what they were doing with the stuff then marked the merch and had them take it to this place. Then the police raided this business. Over a year later the guy had 2 locations and lost 1, over half of his inventory couldn’t be found and wasn’t able to recover.

Imagine walking into a target and actually seeing good figures or collectibles on the shelf.

That specific Target just did this as a way to "deter" the problem not really to police it! Ik this 1st hand... They don't care wtf you do as long as the merch is being paid for!! Pack weighing is for cards- it shows the hits as with foil cards! They weigh more... That policy makes no sense because you can't return cards! Cards are a 3rd party entity/company at Target... They're not even put out by Target employees! I did the card distro for years! Same with the books, magazines, greeting cards! It's all 3rd party! The cards aren't even put in as the Target inventory!! So realistically they don't know what they have in stock or what's not! What is put out is put out! 😵💫 So back to my main point- they can't do anything with this 🤣

Pokemon should do what other companies do and put fake cards in packs to make them weigh more

Nope you’re not crazy😂… the taylor book and vinyl were just sitting at the target I go too. Nobody cared for it 😂😂

I remember when Target would keep new release Funkos at the electronics counter with a worker handing them out. Maybe they need to keep items with major releases to a specific area with a team member handing them out, limiting the number per person. Now this may not be realistic based on employee numbers, etc. Many have created this atmosphere of aggressive purchasing and others are having to deal with those consequences. Not sure about the weighing of items and how you can stop people from doing that but the video of that asshat taking all those Pokemon cards with the display was just too much.

Someone who carries up an entire display to the register clearly gives zero Fs, and is most definitely radiating hostile vibes...no way would I ever approach crazy card guy and risk life or limb for a little over minimum wage 😂 No thanks

Weighing is big in sports cards. Usually the best hit, weighs the most - For example: the newest 2023-2024 Donruss Football - Heaviest card is worth a minimum of 250$ and upwards of 1000$ for the better ones

There are to many items that are blind box blind bag etc then when you try to complete them you keep getting what you don't want it needs to change by the other companies that produce the items like this to make more money for them selves

I think it has been the new one piece tcg set that releases. People have been waiting in store at target for restocks and instantly buying out everything they have. Card packs with foil cards etc... weigh more

Here my flat earth tin foil hat theory, Chris is a pro flippers cuz he want gastley to be flipped by flippers money over collectors I guess but that's business target wouldn't enforce it unless it a crazy situation cuz money over people they want to sell it to sell out

I don't see how weighing something could be against the rules. It's not illegal. You're not stealing something. You're putting something on a scale and putting it back if you don't want it. I don't buy cards but I buy blind boxes. If people can't weigh things they'll just secretly tear it open and then leave it in the aisles if they don't want it. I've seen it before.

Definitely a limited store thing and yes what happened before because it went viral and was sooo excessive played a part in this post. But to say anybody’s argument is unintelligent or stupid when we’re talking about systems in a very capitalistic society good luck with your own logic on these things as long as we live in a society where the system of capitalism is no holds bar realistically, it will always get worse. Also as much as I don’t like it anyone trying to limit and restrict things when the system in place, the higher you get the more freedoms you have. Anybody honestly intelligent and has educated themselves and understands the system knows that when you’re at the highest levels meaning million, billion, trillion dollar companies you literally lobby and hire government officials to make the rules in your favor so you can do exactly these type of things that the average person is vilified for. Look no further than Microsoft as an example. This stuff has been going on since the early years of this country but what Microsoft did in the 90s along with the phone companies has only gotten worse over the last 30 years… this post by target is definitely total PR marketing. It’s not real. So regardless of those of us who have morals and standards and think that this stuff is ridiculous and crazy the reality is in this country, the United States the people who control the systems this is par for the course times 10 .

If you’re weighing Pokémon packs you’re definitely trying to get a holo card. Which makes you in my eyes a douchebag and most likely not a collector.
@Gastlecast3 сағат бұрын
Couldn't a collector who wants a holo weigh cards though?
