Amazing video, solved my problem a treat. Ended up using the end of a 5.5mm drill bit ground down to fit both the basket and drive gear perfectly. No more clutch noise! Thanks RB! ♥

Great video - thanks for explaining I was looking for a video for the later 09 divi - as mine needs looking at - its getting a bit sticky when changing gear or going into netural when the engine is warm, ive changed the oil/filter but no difference.
@RestorationBiker21 күн бұрын
Hi If it is a bit 'sticky' when engaging gears or neutral, then the problem is that the clutch isn't fully disengaging. This could be for a number of reasons. I would totally strip the clutch and fit new friction and plain plates, as you may have a warped plate. Check the whole set up when it is out and I am sure that you will cure the fault..

@@RestorationBiker thanks for your reply - I will take it apart and have a look its done a few miles now 75,000 but im reluctant to get rid of it as its so nice to ride / im not sure what I would replace it with. I might have to have a look for a spare one.

Cracking vid, im about to strip down the clutch on a 92 600s i bought a few years ago but just left standing in garage, done a few jobs lately ready to take for mot but found engaging 1st, nuetral and 2nd gear difficult, ive tied back the lever and left for a few days but need to do the rattle pin anyway so will inspect clutch and change if necessary. This vid will be a huge help cheers

Hi, Thanks for the comments. It sounds as if you have a couple of plates sticking together. A good strip down and clean of all the plates will probably get it working perfectly again.

Hi. Great video. Any idea if the FZS600 Fazer clutch rattle is the same problem?
@RestorationBiker11 ай бұрын
Hi Chris, thanks for the nice comments. I love the Fazer. I very nearly bought a new one when they first come out. I have owned a couple of them since but they were secondhand. Great bikes. I love the gold paint scheme. The clutch is different on the Fazer. They do suffer from a clutch 'rattle' Normally this can be improved by doing a proper carb balance, as the clutch rattles if the carbs are out. If that doesn't cure it, then you need to dis-assemble the clutch and check the condition of the clutch basket and the clutch plates (the ears of the plates especially) Make sure that there are no 'burrs' on the basket where the plates contact the basket. If you strip it and want any other help, feel free to contact me and I will help if I can.

Hi i have same noise with pin What you use for made pin ??? Thanks a lot. Welding wire can be 3mm?
@RestorationBiker Жыл бұрын
Hi, you can use anything for the replacement pin, it just has to be the right size. I have seen bolts cut and used, I used a roll pin. That allows you to knock it it and keeps it from rattling around
@booda2552 Жыл бұрын
I used a 3mm Alan key, cut and rounded it with a file then hammered it straight into the pin.

@RestorationBiker Жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it. I had a length of steel bar the right diameter for the pin. The only problem was I forgot to film me doing it, so I had to 'skip' over it. The bike runs superbly now with no more noise from the clutch basket.

good morning, does anyone have a video that explains how to disassemble the gearbox of the yamaha xj 600 s 1994?
@RestorationBiker24 күн бұрын
Hi, I have never had to strip a 600 diversion engine down that far. They are bullet proof engines. If you have a problem with your one it may be easier to replace the complete engine assy.
@giuseppebenelli880124 күн бұрын
@RestorationBiker thanks for the reply; in reality I don't know if the real problem is the gearbox, in reality I changed the chain, crown and sprocket, but I noticed that the bike jerks in second gear when I give gas, I can't understand what it is, everything is adjusted well

@@giuseppebenelli8801 Does it only happen in 2nd gear?
@giuseppebenelli880123 күн бұрын
@@RestorationBiker hi, yes today I checked with a mechanic, and he confirmed that it is the front engagement gear of the second gear... only him; given the cost, I'm thinking of doing this job with a friend, numbering all the parts, and making sure to put everything back in order

Hi, yes, I know what you have done. On the top where the clutch cable fits onto the arm. You need to remove the small arm that is held by a circlip, and then re-position it in the correct position.
