Just a few things to note.
I chose the replacement speakers by first visiting Crutchfield.com. I'm not affiliated with them in any way, but they have a lot of great resources for determining what you need and what fits your car. In the end I wound up buying them on amazon after finding the right combination of cost and review status.
I'm still new at making these kinds of videos. Hopefully I can make them shorter and quicker in the future. Same goes for the audio and video equipment I use.

Thanks, I'm the one of ten people in the world that this would actually help, after I blew a speaker

This is an excellent tutorial! I’ve had two new speakers for several years but have been afraid to tackle the replacement process. I am now comfortable doing it myself, so wish me well.

Hi Professor Ozone, another big thumbs up for me, this was SUPER helpful. I upgraded my stock speakers to Focal component set this weekend. I added some Silent Coat sound deadening at the same time. The guide on removing the trim was a life saver. Nothing broken! I found another YT video that showed me the wire colours for polarity, so also no need to get the multimeter out :-)

That's great. It really makes me feel good when one of my videos is helpful. So many videos have helped me out. Glad you could do it easily. I have another channel called ANTIMATTER GARAGE, where I do other things to the Spyder. Take a look if you plan on doing other repairs.

Dont forget all of the Owners outside of the USA. Not an owner yet but this is pretty much the same on all Toyotas, even my Supra.

No problem. Gratz on the new purchase. If you are interested in learning more about the Spyder, I have a channel called antimattergarage where I am swapping a 2ZZ motor into my Spyder.

I just noticed that I totally did that wrong. Just stick the screw driver above the door lock and pry upwards, while pulling the bezel away. Repeat on the bottom and then slide it forward and out. Use the force Luke!

I kept my stock fronts speakers and tweeters and added bazooka tube 6 inch sub and put in the back compartment driver side. It made a huge difference. I have very little base on the speakers and let the sub do the low end. It's great when top is down.

Yeah, but I like as much trunk as I can get in this thing. I remember when these cars were new, people were using a special amplified sub that fit under the center console. Don't recall what they were.

@@ProfessorOzone I used a Clarion SRV303 powered sub, which is pretty small. It fits in the "trunk" behind the drivers seat and still leaves most of the space available for your golf clubs ;-). It doesn't blow you out of the car, but it fills in the bass nicely. That was a few years ago, so that exact model might not be available anymore.

Great tutorial, your installation is certainly more professional than another I watched. It has now been almost a year since you original posted, are you still pleased with the performance of the Rockford Fosgate P165 SI 6.5” component speaker system? Are the tweeters the same thickness as the OEM tweeters, did they fit okay with the door panel?
@ProfessorOzone

So the Rockford Fosgates are still functioning properly. Whether I'm satisfied. . . I think that's a matter of expectations. I guess I was kind of hoping for something that sounded better than stock, but truly they sound exactly the same. Could be the head unit too or the lack of an amp. So ultimately, I think they are fine, I probably just expected too much. The tweeters fit fine.

Just so you know Rockford is actually a great and well known car Audio brand . The difference with the fact that these speaker system are made for that front stage sound the reason why your mid bass may not put out that bass your looking for is because you have to change out the brackets out to after market ones and they would sound much more better. if you can't find it I I recommend to buy a small sheet of 3/8 abs plastic trace cut the bracket with a router and pre drill the wholes and sound dead the area where the speaker whole is and then put it all back together and should be rattle free and sound much more better .

Yes, they still sound like the stock speakers. Nothing broken or distorting or anything. I don't recall measuring the thickness of the tweeters, but they did fit in the original door space with no problems.

great Idea with filing the bracket with epoxy to screw into it later on, I think I'll do the same! Does it hold up well? As in does the epoxy gets loose after while by any chance? I'm going to do some sound deadening in the door as well while I'm at it. Thanks for the video
@ProfessorOzone

As far as I can tell the epoxy holds up really well. It was the engine that gave out. You can see that result on the youtube channel "antimatter garage."
