Great work. I let Ice o Matic tech support burn me last week. I was not familiar with that machine and took his word. Good reminder for me to understand the system and trust my gut.

Normally the X valve would be wrapped up good I works probably initially think it has lost its charge You got to the Vance very quick Did you at first think it was low on charge? You never know who you’re going to get on the phone You could have unplugged the water pump and if the tube going into the evaporator don’t frost up then you definitely have a bad valve Good job!

if you knew what the problem was why did you call tech support? how much gas did you pull out vs put back in? did you pressure test or just soap test your welds? looked just low to me... also your head pressure and txv operation concepts are a little off.

@@nicholastrottier4895 I like to confirm with tech support, and get part numbers. Also had a question for him about recovering the refrigerant, because with these systems it's a four point recovery. I did not have to add any refrigerant to the system as it had the correct charge. Can you please explain what you mean about the head pressure regulator and expansion valve concepts? I'm sure that I didn't explain everything perfect, and am always learning more, or at least trying.

@@denrayrI know right. Not a super tech but putting the right info out there is important. Some ppl use these videos as gospel.

@@ReubenSahlstrom I'm sorry I didn't mean to criticize to heavy. I realize my comment came across that way. The charge question was a legit curiosity. Same with the tech support question. On the front of your concepts, the HPR valve doesn't flow refrigerant , it actually holds back refrigerant to flood the condenser and raise head pressure in the cooler weather. It also acts as a hot gas bypass to provide enough pressure to the liquid receiver to "push" adequate liquid supply to the txv. On the tx front, I'd have to watch your video again for the exact words you used but it doesn't regulate flow as much as it controls superheat. The end result is flow management but its main job is to monitor and compare superheat to evap pressure and maintain it. Again didn't mean to criticize but I think it's important if you're going to put the info out there to ppl who are using your video educationally it's important to provide the correct info.

@@nicholastrottier4895 I am not so easily offended, and so appreciate any helpful information in the comments I receive. We often call the expansion valve a regulating device, as it does regulate the flow of refrigerant. You are correct that it uses superheat measurements to accomplish this task, but nothing said there was inaccurate. I hope people don't just watch this single video to learn everything they need to know about refrigeration. Also, the head pressure regulator does the same thing by regulating the flow through the condenser, trying to maintain whatever set pressure and keep refrigerant moving through. Just different ways of explaining the same thing. Thanks!
