I've been binging this series and I had some card ideas for you, but also a problem you seem to have overlooked: Hunger. The first Decked Out was huge and players could run out of sprint fairly easily. You saw people eating a golden carrot at the last minute to mitigate that sometimes. If not adding food droppers into the dungeon, or even a custom food, you may consider allowing people to take food with them into the game or adding in some food related cards like the ones below. That said, here's the card ideas. Starting Item Cards (most of these are probably ethereal) ~Vexbane: Provides a golden sword with just enough enchantment to one-shot a vex. The low durability is a feature, it will not last forever. ~Rusty Guard: Provides a pre-damaged shield, possibly with a custom banner texture. A ravager should destroy it in three hits or less. ~Stalwart Aegis: An undamaged shield. This one should be rare, and it should come with clank. ~Vial of Lethargy: Provide a splash potion of slowness. A careful throw lets you outrun a ravager. A careless one ends the run. ~Vial of Suffering: Provide a splash potion of weakness. Another way to survive a ravager by blunting their attacks. ~Cornucopia: Provides a bunch of different food items, so they don't stack. (the dungeon is huge, hunger is going to be a factor) ~A Very Merry Unbirthday: Provides a cake. Lots of food... if you can stop to use it. ~Second Chance: Provides a totem of undying. Given how quickly the things in the game can kill you unarmored, this might not be as powerful as you think. ~Stay Back!: Provides a Punch II bow, and several arrows tipped with potion of regeneration. This way a player can knock back a ravager, but can't kill them. ~Questionable Taste: Provides a bowl of suspicious stew. There are ways to select the potion effects these come with, so you can decide which ones are in the randomized pool. ~Mycellum Insistence: Provides a few bowls of mushroom stew.

I do like these ideas, only thing I'm worried about is the fact is how Tango would restock these items constantly would he not? I'm not saying that it's not a bad idea but considering Decked Out is a game of survival, there should be a limited amount per say right?
@EtherealAuthor Жыл бұрын
@@M4SKED2001 Of course. I'm not saying he would have to use all the ideas, merely providing all of the ideas I have so he may use as many as he likes. Even if that number is zero. I mean, I'm not building Decked Out, what use do I have for them?
@jordanwood4687 Жыл бұрын
Tango has talked a bit in streams about some of these. He has said he doesn’t want to give gear items to the player because that is a huge amount of work to prep and maintain for him the dungeon master. Especially anything pre damaged. Hunger he has considered but I don’t think he has decided what solution he wants for that, waiting for play tests to see how big the need is. Also some of the items like potions you are suggesting are great ideas. Tango hasn’t gone into detail yet but I think some of these items may take the form of shop items rather than cards. This is all really awesome ideas!

Tango, consider adding a Buy effect on the cards like Dominion, that you start with 1 Buy with your Frost Embers at the end of the game, but if you got any Buy effects, you'll have additional buys at the end. Make the cost of these cards that have this effect pretty costly, so you have to invest in them. Having them not Permanent Cards, but rather like any other effect, makes it a risk and reward, that the effect doesnt advantage them at all at their predicament in the dungeon, and they'd rather get a more suitable effect like Sneak or Jump Boost, but it will obviously help them at the end of their run. If the keys are an issue, perhaps time the doors to automatically open after five or six minutes? That way, you can either wait for the doors to open, or hunt down the key to open the doors sooner. You make it a tradeoff of waiting and more time passing, vs generating clank and possibly opening the doors faster. Also, if there's a timer to open you don't have to worry about the keys not being dropped/hunting through the same chests repeatedly looking for the key.

Just a quick mention. Could always just have the "Steps" be unlocks for the next... You can't put the 'Deck' into Step 2 because there is a block in the way, it gets cleared when you select the difficulty. You can't get into the Minecart without putting the 'Deck' into play because there is a Portcullus in the way, which raises when they do put the 'Deck' in... I feel that would only be needed if there is some real BrainDead accidents of doing it backwards or something of course.

There is one concern with the currently shown Key system (besides the randomness or potentially never acquiring a key). If, as you said, the keys for each level only open the doors of said level, should you enter a level by bypassing the door( eg. one-way TnT drop from level 1 to lv 3) you SoftLock yourself as there is no way back up again. It would probably be a good idea to either: - guarantee a key on a certain location (as you already mention) + keys opening both the doors to the next level and to the previous (if applicable, would however add a lot of redstone-lines) - adding a hidden or difficult to open passage to the next/previous level that does not require keys. I recall you had one inside a closet on lv 1 to lv 2, and the TnT drop from lv 1 to lv 3, more of these should probably also be added for 2-3, 3-4 and/or 2-4 This concern might have already come up somewhere but i felt like mentioning it once more.

Have you thought about using zombies as a way to distribute the loot? Like, instead of having the keys spread out through the map, release a zombie that is holding the key that they have to kill. Not only will it improve their odds of finding it (sound ques via zombie) but it'll also add randomization of where the key might be (zombies wander / track something). Not sure of the viability, but it's a way to solve a few problems with the new loot system.

Idea- for either level 3 or 4 you could have a room representing each of the hermits bases and they could all be being corrupted by deep dark

Potential exploit of your difficulty system if I'm reading the redstone right. If you tie it to the shulker being placed, then could spam the difficulty buttons to get a whole bunch of compasses to spawn. Better to tie it to a detector rail once they're already on the ride.

You have to keep in mind that this game will only be able to be played by Hermits. Malicious exploitation of the game is not a factor.

The pistons that trigger a dropper will only be extended for a brief moment, so that's not really an issue unless the person is both malicious and has superhuman timing.

Man, hearing the heartbeat made me so excited! It makes the Dungeon feel alive. This is so exciting!

Yeah, time for ravagers! So excited for the next episode already. Also: great ideas with the changes, it already feels so well thought through, it's really impressive. Can't wait for the testing with Zed in the livestreams :)

26:24 the glitchy flickering of Tango's character as he flies in front of the fortress and the Warden face momentarily peeks through feels like foreshadowing lmao

I’m glad you’re focusing on DO, because I also want to see it finished soon, but we’ll be waiting patiently for the next Create video!

Tango I'm utterly baffled by the big brain behind the game of Decked Out. Not only have you designed a dungeon of horror, but you've fundamentally challenged future players of the game with risk vs reward. You've managed to create a concept AND execute the arduous amounts of work for it. I have no idea how you even come up with the red-stone systems for this game let alone keep track of them, but it's amazing. Thank you for inspiring viewers such as myself with ideas I didn't even realise could become reality. Your work is absolutely beautiful, many thanks and much praise to you, the Hermits are going to love it. Best wishes on your journey to finishing this massive project ❤

I've been hearing more and more about the end of the season and I'm concerned that there won't be much time playing Decked Out 2, I'm happy that you're working on it a lot and I am so pumped for it but I also want Decked Out 2 to last at least a couple of months, I'll be binging all the hermit's videos, to the peril of my study life 😂😂

Because of things said after S8 (wanting to take longer breaks, but no more short seasons) I had a prediction for when the season would end, and Tango kind of verified it in this video. Season 9 will likely last through the summer (a little less than 6 more months) and the Hermits will take a break in September because their views tend to dip at the beginning of the school year. If Tango completes this by the end of April that would leave the Hermits 4 months to play DO2.
@KingArthurDent Жыл бұрын
@@liamengram6326 You may be right, but to be honest I really doubt it'll be done by the end of April. Tango is doing a heroic effort with all the work he's putting in, but remember that it's only level 1 that's close to finished, level 2 is mostly built but needs a ton of redstone still, and levels 3 and 4 are not yet more than a twinkle in his eye.

If you find the time, a "secret room" at the bottom or third floor that's a replica of the fairy fountain that plays the track and maybe gives a special reward might be awesome. Another subtle hat tip to the og dungeon crawlers.

Might I suggest when getting other Hermits to do rooms/areas - block off exits from that room so they don't get used to the rest of the dungeon. Then make a drop in and fly out chute into that room/area. You might get more interest from hermits that wouldn't normally want to spoil the game for themselves.

This has got to be the single most impressive thing I have ever seen in Minecraft. This is straight up computer engineering, making a whole 'live action' videogame in Minecraft. This is right up there with the guy who made Pokemon Red in Minecraft! Tango, I've been watching this slowly get more and more complex over the months, and I have to say, MAD respect!

Hey Tango, great episode and loving everything about Decked out 2. - Key Idea How about a place where you could buy a key or passage for coins every level, so it that will guarantee the player a key or the gate to be open if they explore every part of that level. (the amount it cost could be near the bottom line what is dispensed every level) This way keys could stay rare and also encourage exploring the dungeon. Keeping with the difficulty being a low level with out certain cards and handicapping just running through early levels cause you might wanna save your coins up towards the next level or even future runs if you aren't lucky with a key. An if you mainly aren't using coins for players to purchase but crowns; you should have it at the end of the game the player must convert their coins via a exchange machine for crowns but any leftover coins they keep; so they could early on save those towards quick unlocks for level 1 and 2 after a 5+ games early on if lucky. But also have a shop outside the dungeon where you can buy coins for crowns at a insane rate so late level players can still really dump majority of their resources for a speed run of the first few early level after (5~) the same amount of runs. It could also be hinted through a sign, 'if no key, burn your riches and you will be free" implying you could throw in a unknown about of gold into a fire with a dispenser underneath (or a pit or lava) but the location is hidden in riddles around the dungeon. You could learn the amount by slowly putting it in 1 by 1 or just dropping in the full amount but there should be feedback and a delay so the player has to waste time there if trying to learn. Also if the riddle is beyond them they could brute force it by burning coins everywhere. Also also think letting the level continue to drop coins might make the currency common place with later cards and having loot spawn when they enter the level it makes it so the players needs to explore new rooms for loot instead of waiting and running back and forth in a few safe rooms collecting up. Think keeping keys rare would be best cause it would feel that much better when you are gifted with one by the dungeon. Another extra step instead of a just opening the gate after paying; on later levels it could dispense a key somewhere on the level that's in a hard to get location or treacherous . Keep up the good work!

For the treasure, you could even alter it so some places the Key is more common to drop, and other places Coins are more common to drop. That could help the "what happens if I cannot get a Key quickly?"
