I met Canadian actor Christopher Plummer about 10 years ago while he was having dinner at the Ritz Carlton Hotel (Montreal). What a fantastic guy !!! I was with a group of friends and he invited us to join him at his table. We all began to sing "Edelweiss" when suddenly a waiter shows up and asks if we wanted to see a Menu? Mr. Plummer told him "No, let these fine people GUESS what your Hotel is serving tonight" :>)
@robinscott69634 жыл бұрын
What a great story!! I would love to have been there. I wonder how often people sing Edelweiss to him? Such a cool way for people to express their love of him. He was one of the first people I ever had a crush on after seeing the Sound of Music when I was about 8. I remember telling my mom that I was going to marry him someday. She said, “Then what will happen to Maria and all those children?” I think I cried.

Incredible I loved the original version with Ray Milland and Grace Kelly, but this remake,stands up very well. In the' olden days ' Women were conditioned to be wives and mothers. How Agatha Christie, a woman of that time, broke the mould, invented such plots, such intrique and such brilliance in her writing , with all of the social pressures which must have been persuading her to conform, is a tribute to her genius. I am reminded of the griping and whining of Meghan Markle, who complains about victimisation, but hasn't one whit of the talent of the great female actresses and poets and writers such as Mary Shelly and Jane Austin and the Brontes.. Florence Nightingale, Panckhurst and the black women who had the courage to ride at the front of the bus, and earn their place in white schools during the period of segregation in the USA. These are our heroines! These are our examples for our children !.. Not some whiney little social climber, married to Prince and living in luxury... .
While Agatha Christie was a very talented writer of mystery and suspense, she did not write Dial M. It was written by Frederick Knott.

@@Shangri-LaGrangeOf course you are absoloutely correct.. My mistake ....made all the more stupid because i have read all of Agatha and seen lots of Alfred. Still, my sentiments remain the same, and thank you .

Reply to babavee100: Wtf ?? Isn’t this a film review... ?? Such vitriol about Markle. So what ? She is a social climbing twat but who cares. All the tabloid frenzy about his marriage ... just whipping the great unwashed into a lather ... either pro or con the rather pretentious but resolutely B grade American actor and self-styled “influencer” ... more fool you for such emotional investment. Hopefully Harry and his bride will fade into obscurity now he has fucked off to Los Angeles as they offer nothing of value to the world beyond rendolent wallowing in a lifestyle of unearned privilege that seems to provoke the purient interest of someone like you ... one of the voracious readers who slavishly pores over and swallows the carefully curated PR spin released to online gossip sites and magazines... too bovine and gullible you don’t recognise the emptiness of the subject matter ... gazing from afar at the absolute cocoon of privilege and wealth these two inhabit. They are not worthy of your time and energy ...

Christopher Plummer was such a good, solid actor. Tall and handsome 😊 and perhaps a more compelling villian than Ray Milland.

What I like in the Hitchcock original, is that there is much more light. And the scene of enticing the murderer was way better, and Tony was not such a doormat. Having said that I admit Christopher Plummer had the range to play both the original cold-blooded murder plot designer and a pitiful doormat and anything in between.

Now that was an excellent murder mystery film. I watched Angie Dickinson on police woman back in the day I believe. Always had a major crush on her when I was younger.

I like these old films....it's more of battle of the wits instead of just seeing action...
