You shouldnt have to clean the threads when buying a coxreel, i would know..my came with missing powdercoat spots and powdercoat inside the threads..Its like for half of them made they forget to put the plug in the female npt inlet so shit doesnt get inside..for a $350 reel, ridiculous. They are not OG quality at all nor are they the quality everyone wants to gloat about. Reelcraft, summit, titan, hannay, etc..are all far better than cox, hell even my mtm is more solid than the coxreel.

I’ve had all of those. Cox is the best. I’m willing to deal with the quirks and problems and work through them.
