Dialing in as a Group on Zoom: The Experience Can Really Stink!

Lots of people are back working in their offices, and that's great!
There are still a lot of us working remotely. And that's great. too!
When we do #Zoom meetings with each other, I have a request.
Don't dial in as a group! What some people are doing is putting a camera on the conference table, and jamming a dozen people in one frame!
That's not an ideal for 3 reasons!
First, those of us who are dialing in can't see your body language or the expressions on your face. This really inhibits communication.
Second, people in groups tend to talk among each other instead of talking to the individuals who have Zoomed in! This makes it really hard to hear what's going on in the call!
And third, there's a lot of body language and table talk going on. The camera and mic can't pick this up. So those of us who are dialing in aren't catching those important nuances!
So instead of trying to do a group Zoom call -- Retreat! Find a quiet place, and dial in as a solo act.
That way, we can all see the expression on your face. We can hear what's being said. And it cuts down on table talk.
That's my opinion. If you're going to dial in, dial in individually.
