I been saying this for awhile. So many young Christians are obsessed with courtship and marriage, they act like it is the total sum of the Christian experience.

Wow! This was so awesome, helpful, informative, and restoring all at the same time. I am 31and have decided to wait for God's timing and plan for my life concerning marriage and that road has not been easy at all. This video brought me back to the prayer that the Lord would be my contentment above anything else. The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak...this video definitely strengthened the spirit. Thank you to everyone who was a part of making this video. It is truly appreciated and I pray that the Lord strengthens you all where you need it.

Glory to God for this whole video because I am a young single man, in the military, no kids and a lot of what i see is like Ezekiel's niece had said in summary "Broken marriages".. Honestly realizing who Christ is and that we are nothing on our own without him and in the military I see a lot of these relationships without a Christ center/foundation painful to see because there is so much emptiness and its like nothing but hate or animosity toward spouses always arguing. But its because of the Christless relationship. I see other men are aren't faithful and the first beautiful woman that walks past they're looking like a dog with a steak hanging in its face and even worse, adultery. But i also have to say that i also have idolized the whole "if she aint bad, she ain't worth it" thing with idolizing the perfect (looking woman) in the past but with giving my life to Christ i strive to seek God first and focus alot on my relationship with Christ. But I also do want to be with someone. I have read in Corinthians about Paul talking about how it is better for you to be single because then you are fixed on pleasing the Lord. Though he also says that if you choose to marry there isn't anything wrong with that. But i definitely have a better understanding from listening and hearing you all that there is a whole lot more to marriage than just what it looks like on the outside. There is sacrifice and really understanding and knowing who you are in CHRIST FIRST and then knowing who you are as a married couple. I really like a lot from what Kiyanna had said about letting God's desires be our desires. So... lately for the past couple of months I have thought about the type of woman i would want and its that Proverbs 31 woman, a Godly woman, a woman with a Christ heart. I understand if it might be setting the bar high because we are not perfect. But I would want a woman who loves God as much as I do and seeks Him first. I have also been doing a lot of praying just honestly being patient and just trusting God in when He see's i'm ready for wife. Also really seeing all people as Jesus see's us. Looking at the inside and not the out. I would like advice on what helped you all, brothers and sisters in Christ, keep that focus on God and making sure Christ is at the center before while you all were single.

This is the first time I am seeing this program and I have to say I am blessed by this episode. I had never heard of the relationship idol before but the more I listened I knew exactly what you were taking about. I would have to say that I have been victim to the relationship idol at one time or another. I have seen a couple ans have wanted to have something like it and then begin to wonder "why am I still single?" When I already know the answer. The promise I made to wait until God has sent the one he has picked for me and in the mean time work on myself to make sure I am the woman that man deserves. Thank you for this.

If submission is practiced to your spiritual head, it will not be so difficult to practice in marriage. Also remember the man must also submit to God. He is also suppose to treat his wife the way he would treat his own body Ephesians 5:22-33

Amen...also at that same chapter before those verses but at verse 21 SUBMITTING YOURSELVES ONE TO ANOTHER IN THE FEAR OF GOD...So it's not only a woman but the man also yet in the FEAR or Love of God because when both are submissive to God first, then you will to one another...Stay Blessed...

This is excellent! I'm single and am quite a bit older than these couples-oh, she's 35, so maybe I'm not quite a bit older, just a little than at least one couple - :-). I know marriage will happen for me, only b/c God said it. However, I know I will have to get used to a lot and learn to not seek my own comfort. At 40, that's a difficult thing to conceptualize, because I'm used to doing me - LOL. So, it's great to hear these young people talk about the "realness" of marriage. I spent so much time idolizing relationships when I was younger. I needed God to show me that marriage is to fulfill His will for me. That's when I was able to say "God, it would make me sad, but if I'm supposed to be single for the rest of my life, I will, I don't want marriage unless it will advance Your Kingdom." I meant that. We really do tend to idolize the companionship, the sex, the "somebody's got my back," instead of placing God RIGHT at the top. Thank you young couples! This is still good learning for me! God CONTINUE to bless you all!! :-)
@afrikagood9 жыл бұрын
+Melody Laster I'll be 35 at the end of this year. I have been going through this paradigm shift myself. That marriage is to fulfill His will and to glorify him. Not to idolize the companionship, the sex and having a teammate. Those are not bad things, however they are secondary to what marriage is primarily is! Thank You!
@melliemel329 жыл бұрын
Afrika Minus AMEN lady! I will be praying that you will be able to make that shift smoothly and then be content until God moves. You know what? We really must remember that at no matter what age it happens, it will be perfect when we wait on God. Praise God!! He's awesome!!! Thank you for sharing your story. Blessings!

I am just seeing this and I am truly blessed. Thank you. It is hard for my friends to understand that I am 33 and not concerned with marriage. Reality is a life without Jesus is a life without purpose, AND not everyone is meant to be married. While I do think of how things would look in a natural romantic relationship I have grown to understand that whatever God's will is for me is far better than what I could desire or gain for myself through myself.

Wow this is so encouraging. Right now ministry and God are the two most important things in my life. But after that is my boyfriend. We plan to get married soon, but we´re living together as of now. So, I constantly find myself struggling with the convictions of sex before marriage, and people of course say “you´re playing house”, but I know that this has encouraged me to tackle those convictions one at a time and do it in a way that shapes my relationship after God.

I know this video is not about race so I hesitated to open that can of worms but I am keenly aware of the hurt that many of my American sisters face when having the Strong black women title foisted on to them and being leaned heavily on in their community at the same time as facing double discrimination (sexism and racism) from wider society and after all that having men they are fighting and protesting for on the frontlines (and in my opinion they shouldn't be encouraging women to come and get hit by police with batons etc) in Baltimore and Ferguson turn round and wonder why the women that are not being correctly loved, protected and cared for are not as submissive and easygoing as other women. I am not American nor do I live there but I feel this is a hurtful issue for many given the dynamics over there.

I just prayed that the Lord would help me to keep my focus on Jesus so intensely that He would have to pry me away from what I’m focused on doing for Him & the Kingdom in order for me to see the man He created for me. As I was watching this amazing dialogue,I was thinking about the ramifications of sin. Sin has broken down the important unity of the family, so that we have single parent homes. It has disfigured the true beauty and purpose for sex, so people are getting the faux version of it outside the parameters of a marriage. In this generation Godly people are not getting married as young as they used to because of (many, many things) a huge shift in our culture all due to sin. God is faithful and He uses all for our good, but we live in a fallen world. Being single , 30 and desiring marriage I have struggled with all the ideas surrounding marriage (the advice, the conviction, etc) so I have so much more to say, but I'll leave it there!

May God bless ALL of you for this wonderful message. So many of us have been screaming this, but the world we live in does not accept this truth. This is God speaking to a lost world. Marriage is supposed to be blessed, and a blessing to those who choose it. Without God as the foundation, we set ourselves up for so much pain. Sexual chemistry, financial chemistry, like personalities, vanity and pride, who's cute, who's fine, who has their own business, etc, etc, has NOTHING to do with God's will and intent, if we leave Him out of it. Wow, what a great discussion on marriage and the dynamics of this marvelous union which brings two people together. Having been married for twenty years, I saw things during the discussion where I could have done things differently and I saw things were no matter what I did or did not do the relationship idol took hold of my marriage. I love the institution of marriage and would gladly do it again with the right person. However, the dynamics of finding a great partner has changed and I've begun to stop looking for her. I believe when I have developed myself further, the right mate will place herself in my space and sphere based on God's direction to her. Thank you all for encouraging even those of us who have become single again. God bless all marriages!!

If being in a relationship is WORK, HARD, one of you MUST DIE! Then WHY? Being with my husband is the most easiest thing I have ever do. If it is WORK and HARD, then maybe your with the wrong person. "WE" have been programmed to except PAIN! Everything to be right with the Lord seems to go always require you to surrender and hurt and to give up something. WHY?!!!!!!! SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE RELIGION WE ARE TAUGHT. KEEPS US ON OUR KNEES SUFFERING TO GET INTO HEAVEN WHE WE DIE! DEAD! WHILE OTHER NATIONS PASS US BY AND BECOME WEALTHY AND POWERFUL AND BUILD THEIR HEAVEN TO ENJOY NOW, HERE ON EARTH. I'm sorry but something just ain't Right!
