those of us who didn't grow up speaking Yoruba are gonna be easily tripped up by words with similar/same spellings, but different meanings unless you really break it down and emphasize the difference in pronunciation for us: Teeth / Back and Work / Poverty are examples that have come up already in your lessons your lessons are great, but help us avoid asking for a dentist to fix our back, and going to the chiropractor to crack our teeth, lol

From what I know back is ehin, teeth is eyin and egg is eyin. I think cos yoruba is a tonal language u can essentially get away with misspelling words as they sound similar when speaking. And yes that's ehin for back not eyin

I just love these videos!! my husband is from nigeria and it is so nice to be able to talk (a little bit) to him in his own language! he does speak great english and teaches me Yoruba. I am also able to teach our baby yoruba too! shes getting it! she can say how are you, eyes, and first part of her middle name (Ebunoluwa)! shes 1 years old! thank you for these videos they are such great help!!

please please continue talking to your child in full Yoruba. there's a silly fallacy that many naija parents(who live in western world)make that say if u talk english and Yoruba to a child it'll confuse them. it's absolute RUBBISH. your child will pick up perfect english outside the house at school with friends and other family from tv etc. it's the Yoruba they need more exposure to for those who live outside naija.

Hi Ada, the Oyo dialect is the foundational dialect of yoruba and that is the broad dialect i am speaking in. Hope this helps.

i think she does it in error. for instance, some people pronounce "ask" as "aks" (supposedly, i'm one of them). sometimes, the brain transposes letters without the speaker realising it.
