Thank you for the lesson, Blessing. My father's family is from Nigeria and I asked my dad to teach me Yorùbá when I was like 9, but he didn't teach me much of anything. I turn 13 in a few days and a about a month ago I thought it was about time I took the matter into my own hands and your videos have been helping me, so I'd like to say E se for that. :)

You did really well sis (*claps for you*) I am always happy when I see people trying to learn yoruba; but let me help you with some of the alphabets. Next time you could have used the following for examples; GB = Gbaguda (Cassava) or Gba (Take) H = Huru Huru (messy or some kind of messy situation) or Hausa (the northerners in Nigeria) J- Jagunjagun (warrior) K- Kiniun (Lion) L- Labalaba (Butterfly) M- Maalu (Cow/Cattle) N- Narun (Skin rashes) P- Pepeye (Duck) R- Rakunmi (Camel) S- Salubata (slippers) U- Uku uku (Uku is 3 in Hausa language, so Yorùbá borrowed it from them because we don't haven't word or thing that begins with U.) Wara (cheese or milk) or Wura (Gold) Y- Yanmu yanmu (mosquito) And finally, 'Doje' is a Flute not a guitar.

@naomibabeee
@naomibabeee 3 жыл бұрын
U is also used in Ìjesa dialect. Uge (Ìgè- a name) Ugba (Ìgbà- Time). Ugi (Ige -tree). Blessing was correct when she said we hardly use ‘U’ in everyday Yorùbá. However different dialects like Ìjèbú , ìjèsà etc. Hausa is a completely different language; although Nigerian , it is totally a different region the two languages do not mix. Great job Blessing 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾

There's so much to learn! I'm so thankful for your channel. You should have seen his reaction when I called him Olowo Ori Mi 🥰 He was like, "Oh you're bribing me now. What is it you want? I will give you anything you ask me." 😂 He loves that I'm trying to learn Yoruba. I would love it if you did some videos on traditional Yoruba culture, especially between husband and wife. Hi Kayode. As a girl that has a mother that has dated a yoruba and has yoruba friends I try to learn as much as I can. I just witnessed someone say they are yoruba but say that there is a z in youruba. me knowing the alphabet says that yoruba skips some of the english alphabet and ends with y. I know this is kinda late but what should I do.

Yes, you’re right, there is no z in the language, maybe you can politely ask them to give you some examples of words with z in it, there are none, or you can just pull up the alphabet on google and show them.

@@DiamanteBox Sorry to bother you again but the internet troll is back at it even after sending the alphabet and asking for examples. I have the link kzbin.info/www/bejne/npCaqGp8ftWdg7s. It would be appreciated if you check it out and assess the situation for yourself. It is not required but I would really appreciate it 😊

@@whyamiheretosuffer7238 I listened to the song and it's not in yoruba. And the yoruba language does not have a Z in it. I don't think the person knows what they are talking about. I't's best to just ignore them.

@@whyamiheretosuffer7238 yeah, even in yoruba language books they omit c and z because it doesn't exist.

most likely. the city of salvador in the brazilian state of bahia is very black and many associate not just as black but identify with their black roots. I should've said many identify with their African roots esp their naija roots

Can you give a bit more context. The way you’ve spelt it doesn’t look like a yoruba word
