Noodler's has awesome inks, no question, but Diamine is a very respectable brand as well! Their newer colors especially have been really great, good shading and saturation with nice flow. I'm a fan, too!

diamine is much cheaper than most other ink brands in the UK because they are based here. Two 80ml bottles for about 11 pounds is about the same as most other inks of a single 50ml bottle.

I completely agree with you Aragorn, blotters are great. I do have and use one, but I didn't include it in this video because not a lot of people have blotters. A lot of folks are using the inks at work or places where blotters aren't practical. I do think the whole use of a blotter needs more exposure, so I'll look to include that in my future videos.

@dimitriosvulgaris I love Majestic Blue! About the Habana...in this review it was 90g. The 'old' Habanas were 90g white paper, and the new ones are now 85g off-white paper.

@fabrimedeiros, that's what I've found to be true. The only other one that comes close to Penman Sapphire is PR Electric DC Blue, but Majestic Blue is closer.

Hi there, and thanks for this thorough review of the ink. One thing that struck me about the drying time/saturation of the ink: You seem to like fountain pens, and using them a lot, haven't you even got an ink blotter??? *scratches head* To me that's a must have when using fountain and/or any kind of nib pens; I can strongly recommend it, especially when using a fountain pen on glossy paper, or hard paper. That way you don't have to wait for the ink to dry completely - very practical. ;-)

Blotting may take away a lot of shading / sheening qualities in ink

@iSaiRAS123 PR Electric DC Blue is very, very similar to Majestic Blue. Here in the US, Majestic Blue is more expensive than PR, so I usually recommend Electric DC Blue as a lower-cost alternative to Majestic Blue, but the opposite would be the case for you! When you ask about ink for school work, what exactly are you looking for? Are you looking for fast dry time, low feathering, bold colors....be a little more specific and I can point you in the right direction.

This is some great stuff. love this ink. I claim to be a big fan of Noodler's ink but there are about 20 bottles of diamine on my shelf so...

Would you recommend it as schoolwork ink?? As I am considering a ink for schoolwork or homework ink, currently I am using the Parker Quick Blue but I am not satisfied with that, as a Parker fan I think the pens are great but the modern ink is not the good as I think.
@Gouletpens13 жыл бұрын
@fb8568 I would recommend this ink to anyone, it's gorgeous! For schoolwork though, the biggest drawback would be the long try time and potential for smearing. School papers tend to get passed around and handled a lot, which might not be ideal with this ink. You might be better off going with an ink less prone to smearing.

The Goulet Pen Company l am. I inked up my Vanishing Point with a broad nib with it. I was going to first use it in another fountain pen but it wound up in my VP and I was floored. I will definitely be buying more.

@TheInkNouveau Yes , Diamine is quite cheap compared to PR in UK but probably cause its made here however still a lot more expensive than waterman, Parker etc. that. Also quite hard to get hold of without using online webs. About schoolwork, I am looking for a nice unique shade of blue which is not too expensive and has decent drying times. PR attracted me cause I never saw that big a range of Blue shades which i liked! If there are any recommendations please message me as I am a HUGE fan!

bought this from goulet, and i adore this ink... this ink made me use only 1 pen for the entire week. too bad about the smearing problem. i hope someday someone managed to invent another dark blue with sheen like majestic blue but with less smearing problem.

Not quite the same color, but Noodler's Q'Ternity (www.gouletpens.com/IS-N19070/p/IS-N19070) is a fast-drying blue ink that shouldn't smear after a few seconds. - Colin

@@austinmalone5197 im interested to know whether its the same color diamine re-bottled or different colors made by diamine made for akkerman..... i do love the akkerman bottles, but for cost of shipping to the US isn't very worth it unless im buying 6 bottles. also the new bottles cost the same as the big ones, but much lower volume as the ones before. any info you have would be helpful.

@TheInkNouveau Is the PR Electric DC Blue any different? Was thinking of buying a bottle but extremely rare and expensive here in England. And what inks would you recommend for school work?
@1tonyk9 жыл бұрын
Brian I'm looking for a really good blue-black ink that has some sheen and kind of "pops" off the page and has a little life. How do you think this compares to Iroshizuku shin-Kai or Diamine B/B or Midnight? Most of the b/b I've tried are very dry and washed-out looking.
@bingle24848 жыл бұрын
is there an alternative for this suitable for cheaper papers (i.e. student use)
@Gouletpens8 жыл бұрын
Pilot Iroshizuku inks are pretty well-behaved on the cheaper paper, so maybe Asa-Gao (www.gouletpens.com/is-pn69203/p/IS-PN69203) could work? - Colin

2010 Goulet:"I only carry 80 ml bottles of Diamine and none in the available 30ml" 2020: Only carries 10 colors in 80ml and all the rest in 30ml. times do change lol. I am sure that sales and cost per bottle (more people buying 2-3 30ml vs 1 80ml). seems you still carry the "best selling" diamine in 80 ml if i had to guess.
@Gouletpens4 жыл бұрын
That's true. Once we started carrying the 30ml, it outsold the 80ml and had better stock availability, so we standardized. The 30ml have a lot less issues with breakages (especially in the winter with freezing), but yes, we do still have 80ml in the most popular colors! -Rachel

@@Gouletpens thanks for the reply. Makes sense. If it sells it sells. Not as economical but does allow me to have more colors. But majestic blue I'll always get in 80ml if I can!!! :-)
